The Sasori Plushie Lawsuit

Today Warren Valik was in an odd place, a public hall in the ecumenopolis of Coruscant, with holocams ready to broadcast his face, his real face, to the galaxy at large.

"Are you ready Dr. Valik?" A rather attractive rutian reporter asked, and Valik nodded. It was time. Holocams began to roll, first on the rutian reported giving a quick summary, and then on the Kiffar himself.

"Ladies and Gentleman of the Republic and the Galaxy at large I am Warren Valik, and I am pleading with you all to listen to me to this injustice done to me and many of the galaxy at large by a Master of the Jedi Order. In the interest of full disclosure I will admit that I spent time working with the Sith Empire, but I never attacked Republic Citizens, have since cut my ties, and with the Sith-Republic Cease Fire I have every right to state my case. Since the Cease Fire I have learned that Sasori Research lead by the Jedi Master @[member="Matsu Ike"] have created a line of plushie dolls in my image, advertised using my name, and drawing a profit from it. I was never once consulted, nor compensated for this use, nor do I believe many of the other men and women who were used as plushie models were consulted or compensated. Therefore I will be representing myself as I sue Sasori Research, and I will gladly represent any men or women who wish to co-sue with me."

"Sasori draws no profit from their products, it is a charity that receives donations from the people, from the jedi and from Baktoid. It helps those in need, gives freely. As such it would fall under charitable immunity for non profit organizations. This product line does not fall outside the scope of their owrk, once it leaves what others do with it is their own action and Sasori sees no part of it. Their products are in house for the jedi and the plushies are known as clearly given away."

Suddenly a hologram of the malevolent Sith Lord, Kaine Zambrano, appears before the masses of the galaxy. In his left hand is one of the Kaine Zambrano plushies with 'epic cape action', and his face is curled with contempt. He holds the plushie up for all to see, and demonstrates the 'epic cape action' before speaking, "While I applaud Mister Valik's noble goal, I must bring up a grievance of my own in accordance with these 'plushies', more specifically one I have with mine. I must question the relevance of the 'epic cape action', for as you can clearly see that is not the most notable feature of myself." He holds up his right hand, which is covered by a heavy black gauntlet radiating with Dark Side energies. "Obviously the real notable feature is the Gauntlet, and I demand that Sasori change the 'Kaine Zambrano' plushie to include Gauntlet firing action." With that the Sith Lord finished his case, and awaited what the representatives from Sasori would say to his demands.

 

[Lord Ghoul]

Shorn watched from the holovid as the Republic's justice system attempted to dismiss the case. Shorn looked at the plushie. They got his face wrong. And the catchphrases? Please.

Pale eyes glowered at the holofeed.

"Attracting my attention was a bad, bad idea."

"You have got to be kidding me... I'm supposed to have made money off my name and likeness, but instead you went with a fething marriage contract? Are you insane?" The plant-woman growled in anger as she looked the Sasori representatives over. "I demand creative control of the features and/or designs of my plushies, as well as profits from their sale. All other co-plaintiffs in this lawsuit should have the same rights of control over their plushies also, not to mention profits from their sale."

This was agitating to say the least, and all the galaxy's figures had come after the persons in charge here.

Shado stepped forward, "Valik, how are you. I must bring myself into this as well. I am a rather adequately known business man, whom has past dealings with the Republic, as well near every major faction of the Galaxies. Where as I am a known profiteer, I must express my own lack of pleasure at my face and name making income without my consent. This is a legality that I plan to face." he said, eyeing the machine that would transmit his image on a piggy back along Valiks own connections.

Alli sighed, this was not what she needed. They were after all implemented before she took over the company but since it was her's now, well she needed to do something. Alli forced her broadcast, overwriting any network that her company could hack through. " Greetings everyone, Now you may of heard there are allegations of Sasori Research using your image for profit. You might think that, but you would be wrong. Sasori Research has never made a dime off of any of the plushies or anything else developed by them. The Plushies are purely a sign of flattery. Sasori Research is an Non-Profit Organization now operated by myself and Matsu Ike. Sasori Research hires Baktoid and other companies to make equipment the Jedi. In light of the recent allegations, I am suspending all production of the Plushies and will encourage anyone with an issue to consult my Lawyers. I wish you all a great day and apologize for those that might be offended by these Plushies and are welcome to request the halt of all use of your image. "
