The Sand in the Glass (Sith Empire, Pengalan IV)

The Dark Lord Velok looked down on a desert planet. Aargonar had been one such, and he had learned more than a few lessons about desert warfare.

One of them, of course, was 'control the water.'

Pengalan had assorted moisture farms and farming communities, and a few good-sized towns at oases. The mines at Tur Lorkin were one of the major points of interest here.

"No kid gloves here," said Velok. "We need this planet firmly under control. Do what must be done."

An ominous shape trudged through the primordial blackness of space towards the dusty sphere in the distance, the planet of Pengalan IV to be specific. The ominous shape also had a name, it was the Invictus-class Star Destroyer, Infidus Diabolus II, flagship of the Grand Vizier of the Sith Empire, and it was on a mission of subjugation. From the darkened bridge a figure seemingly made from the shadows themselves watched the ship slowly move closer and closer to Pengalan IV on a throne the color of onyx, and made from a blackened stone material that when the figure sat upon it gave off the image of a medieval king looking down upon his subjects. "Such an insignificant planet... unknowing of the darkness that closed in around it." The figure's gaze turned towards an awaiting subordinate, "Report to the rest of the fleet that I am in position." The subordinate bowed deeply before the Grand Vizier and rushed off to do his bidding, and Kaine smiled beneath his golden mask as the figure retreated from the throne. "It's time to wage war..."

Velok commanded a similar, perhaps idendical ship. At his command, a truly ridiculous number of small dropships fountained out of the Star Destroyer's belly.

The cloud of specks awaited the word to descend on the oases and on the Tur Lorkin mines.

Jinn Sibot

Child of the Darkness
Jinn sat atop his ship in a hanger, playing with a long series of strings that he continuously twirled around his fingers into impressive Imperial symbols and figures slightly resembling creatures of the galaxy. He had been sent in slightly ahead of the invasion force to set up an attack on a nearby moister farming community that he and a squad of shadow troopers would take as soon as the battle started. The locals didn't know it but inside Jinn's ship was an assortment of E-web blasters and mortar parts that would serve as the defense of the Imperial positions around the moister farms.

The man had been here but a few hours and already the planet was driving him insane. There was not enough darkness here and what light was on the planet was mind numbingly annoying. He couldn't wait until the battle started...the fear of the local population and the anger and adrenaline of all the soldiers would be beyond amazing. "The sky is dark, I repeat, sky is dark." a quiet voice whispered into Jinn's skull through an earpiece that sat snugly in his ear. Jinn nodded his head slightly, still playing with his string. Without looking at them, Jinn focused on the hanger crew that was walking around the bay. With no warning the men were lifted into the air and their breathing became faint as their throats were crushed by Jinn's force powers.

"It is time...let's move out." Jinn called into an open hatch of his ship, to the squad of shadow troopers hidden inside. Soon this world would offer the darkness that Jinn craved...

"Provide fighter support for the dropships," ordered Kirk aboard his flagship.

The starfighters under his command would assist @[member="Velok"] and the other Imperial forces reach the planet relatively unharmed.

Sending a message to Velok, Kirk said, "The coordinates to the supposed Republic base has been sent to your ship, Lord Velok."

Zaiden strode forward, clad in his Demon Armor, "Master@[member="Velok"], whenever your ready to send me in, I'm at your disposal."

He cracked his neck, he needed a way to test his new lightsaber. What better than a domonion?

Scruffy Lookin’ Nerfherder
In orbit above the inhospitable desert planet, the Adjudicator prepared its turbolaser batteries. Fixing upon key sources of water held by the resistance, they began to open fire. Jets of green sped down through the atmosphere to strike at the planet's surface in fireballs of plasma that would take out entire district blocks.

En route toward the planet's surface, Seth watched his handiwork with regret. The planetary strikes would take innocent lives. Shorn knew this. However, he also understood the implications of a drawn out insurgency. Tens of thousands more would die in such a war of attrition. Seth sought to end the invasion swiftly and with permanent results. Resist the Empire, and you would be crushed underheel. There would be no where insurgents could hide. The Empire would salt the ground, poison the water, and raze entire cities to end such an uprising. Shorn was not prepared for those measures.

The destruction of the water sources meant two things. First, the inhabitants of the planet would be reliant on the Empire for their water supply, which would effectively gained their loyalty. Secondly, it forced the resistance forces on the planet to either die of thirst, or attack the Empire-controlled water sources in order to sustain their troops.

Sand sprayed beneath sublight engine wash as the command dropship landed. The Praetor moved forth followed by a detachment of the 82nd armored. Seth exchanged the robes of a Royal Guard for stormtrooper armor: crimson with black pauldrons. Saber tanks and AT-STs moved out into the desert world, intent on their target: Tur Lokin.

Another way to prevent a resistance from becoming an insurgency is by seizing all sources of monetary production. Mines included.

"Contact right side! Someone get some fire on that son of nerf herder!" the Shadow trooper shouted as blaster fire from the resistance fighters riddled their positions. Jinn and his squad of shadow troopers had be successful in their surprise attack, but there was an unnerving gap between the amount of men intelligence said the rebels had here and the actual amount. Jinn spun his saber in brilliant displays of control, the red saber creating a light show as it deflected the beams of energy back at their origin. The sith was already beginning to feel the rush of dark energies that were flowing off both the rebels and his own shadow trooper squad. Their anger, fear and passions were enhancing Jinn's own feelings, sending him deeper and deeper into an almost drug like high that would fuel him to kill many of these pathetic excuses for soldiers.

Jinn slowly advanced on the positions of the Rebels, the sounds of distance explosions notifying the Sith that the invasion had indeed begun. Using the force, Jinn threw a mass of energy a small house that the rebels were taking positions in. The side of the structure exploded into an elaborate confetti of wood and steel, exposing all of the rebels inside and killing some with splintered shrapnel. "Advance on the cowards my brothers!" Jinn called to his men. He did not hold the same passion for the men as other soldiers did for other soldiers, he merely saw them as brothers of the dark, men who would work to spread darkness and chaos throughout the galaxy. The troopers followed their orders, standing from their positions of cover in a firing line manner and advancing quickly on the house, their weapons not seizing to fire as they moved forward. The rebels tried to run backwards and escape the storm of frighteningly accurate fire, but they would only die tired as they were mowed down in rapid successions. One after the other the rebels fell, smoking holes gaping in their backs as they laid dead and motionless on the floor of the building. Jinn simply watched, bathing in the darkness, as his men moved forward and made entrance into the house through the massive hole in its Eastern wall. The sith looked around his surroundings, the moister community was large, small houses and some pit style homes were scattered around the desert plains. The troopers would need to clear them one by one to make sure no rebels were hiding in wait...that was something Jinn would not want to sit around for.

With a press of his communicator Jinn signaled the fleet, "Lord @[member="Velok"], I require additional troopers on my location to help clear the moister community." Jinn spoke calmly through his comm as he continued to observe the community. For a moment his eyes rested on the two fallen troopers that had been killed when the rebels first started firing. This was only the beginning, more deaths were sure to come as things began heating up.

"Captain Tora." Jinn called loudly to the leader of the shadow troopers inside the building, his breather making deep growls as he stood in the desert heat, his bare back glimmering from his sweat.

"Yes sir?" the trooper called back as he maneuvered his way through carnage and debris.

"I sense that there are more rebels hiding in wait, I have called for additional support. However, I want your men to begin setting up the mortar and E-Web emplacements. The community wasn't clear yet, but the Sith could feel that there was a plan to attack in the works by the rebels. Plus, why search the buildings when you could just make them explode?

Lucien approached the bridge of the sith destroyer tentatively this was to be his first battle in aid of the empire.he stepped into the bridge and approached master Velok and Zaiden he gave a short bow to the senior force users before saying "I'm at your service Dark lord Velok,How may i assist in this conquest" he shifted on his feet eager and nervous at the same time this was a far cry from his playboy life at home.

Zaiden nodded in respect to the young man's arrival. He bounced around nervously and it made Zaiden smirk, remembering his own first battle. It was a joy for him.

"Relax boy. Your blade will find blood soon enough."
