Junction The Price of Order | GE & THR | Corellia & Hosnian Prime

Dominique nodded. "I understand, Director. It would seem we may need to station a reserve group as we continue our efforts to reach worlds once part of the Alliance. In case the Empire--" in the middle of discussion a future strategy, it was difficult not to be interrupted as events spun wildly out of control on the bridge.

No word was offered. Doubtful one was needed. Aurelian was hardly being circumspect in his dealings and the bridge was far from a multi-level monstrosity full of clutter. The Chancellor crossed the distance with only a few light, but swift steps.

She got there after the man had 'calmed' down, but that didn't erase what had transpired. With a firm voice, but one that kept from carrying far from where they stood, Dominique stated, "King Veruna, I appreciate your position, but please restrain from assaulting our officers."

There was a pause as Dominique expected some kind of interruption as a response.

"Starting a shooting war will only trap her down on Corellia. We can evaluate our response once she's clear. And Your Majesty, if the Imperials try to stop her return to us, rest assured I won't stop at words to get her back." Dominique's shoulders remain squared and her chin slightly elevated as her golden eyes watched his body language.

It was only because she understood that she didn't give him the same verbal lashing he'd just given the Officer. They didn't know how badly she was wounded. They didn't know which person in particular earned their fate. As simple as 'kill them all' might be, it wouldn't address the root of their problem. Not unless Aurelian planned on bombarding the surface of Corellia and putting Sibylla's life in mortal jeopardy.

Hopefully, Aurelian would find it in himself to claw back some restraint. Dominique did not want to need to put him under restraint, but order had to be maintained on the bridge of a ship. Especially the flagship.

The explosions from the returned grenades struck the Troopers, but it seemingly increased their resolve. They pushed forward, starting to march in-step, and continued to fire. Blaster-fire now came in rapid rates, a steady blanket of fire on the helpless crowd of civilians-

But soon, the civilian targets were found wanting in number. The Troopers executed not just the agitators, but the ones fleeing. The Empire knew no mercy, knew no parley, knew no restraint. They were there only to control. Corellia had come under the Emperor's shadow. They were not to be trifled with. They were not to be negotiated with.

The Empire was all there would be.

The Stormtroopers pushed forward, closing the gap between them and the Jedi.

Sid produced his handgun- a slugthrower. Not a blaster. Not to be deflected like all the others. He pulled the hammer back- and aimed it right at Lily Decoria Lily Decoria . He fired. And fired. And fired again. He advanced with his men, the great many number of them still left. Slugthrower rounds blasted over the cacophony of blaster fire- and came screeching towards the Jedi already struggling with a barrier. He fired, and fired, emptying his magazine.

His comms unit in his ear was screeching at him to return to the shuttle bay.

His Sergeants were trying to hold him back before he pranced up to the bridge deck.

The squire boy (or whatever the Naval buffoons called their pimple-faced nerds guarding the bridge) was also commanding him to stop. For good measure, Atham gave the lad a good pump in the gonads before tossing him aside. The other Commandos stood near the bridge's entrance, making sure:

1. No one saw what Atham did to the poor lad,

2. No one else came into the bridge and interrupted their Commander's plea.

He stepped into the bridge, fully kitted out. A comms unit was attached to his ear, his beret- a sigil of the Elite, attached over his head, neatly. He stepped right up to Aurelian Veruna Aurelian Veruna , seemingly more keen to the situation than he let on.

"The Republic does not leave anyone behind. Allow me to cut through the blockade old bean, I can get my men through."

He looked the King of Naboo in the eyes. No question about it. The party boy was gone in his eyes, in his words. He looked over to Dominique Vexx Dominique Vexx , knowing damn well what he was doing in front of the Chancellor. He was very well throwing his entire life, his family's fortune, his standing and his chances at promotion away. But the words he said held conviction, held meaning, and held truth.

Even if Atham had to take the shuttle down to the planet alone to get them out!

"I'll bring her home, sir."

As Malcolm continued deflecting blaster fire and reversing the direction of grenades using the Force, he broadcast again over Republic and Jedi frequencies. "I repeat, this is Master Malcolm Ironmaster of the Silver Jedi Order, Imperial forces have opened fire on civilian protesters fleeing the scene and on Jedi defending the civilians." He reached out with the Force and lifted a manhole cover from the road between Lily and Sid, attempting to use it as a shield against the slugthrower.

Ayumi gave a nod to Dominique as the king seemed to be doing... oh damn. She looked at him and Dominique for a moment but remained there and stilled herself. The outfit she was wearing enclosing around her as the cloak at the shoulders slid down over her to cover her hands. SOmeone entered the bridge speaking as she raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything and kept her face neutral. This was a tense situation on its own and she was not certain of the better course of action.. the suggestion she would have is break the blockade but that is because if they were willing to go after the ones disagreeing in full view of another government... if they were willing to sanction and allow things like this visibly. Then it would be dangerous to leave anyone down there without a chance to escape. "Chancellor, I don't know who this person is but if they are willing to let this happen and be seen. If we leave it could be much much worse for anyone left down there."

The Force Wave that Lily launched against the stormtroopers had some effectiveness, dozens were forced onto their backs, knocked down and prevented from being able to continue firing upon the crowd. The grenades thrown back by the wave also blasted and disrupted the lines of stormtroopers. Lily couldn't feel pleased or satisfied with the draining effort in blasting the soldiers back since it wasn't enough, it didn't save everyone from these murderers.

When she noticed a soldier turn their attention on her, holding a slugthrower aimed at her. Lily knew there wasn't going to be enough time for her to create a protective barrier that would have prevented the harm impacting her body. Before she could react, a manhole covering was launched in the air and several rounds of the slugthrower collided with the cover. Her body reacted as well, dodging and shifting with inhuman reflexes and speed thanks to her Lightsaber's attuning to her.

There wasn't time to offer her thanks to Malcolm for having her back in the moment since there was still a lot going on. Her body hadn't even noticed some of the grazes from bullets passing by her. "We need to keep pulling the stormtroopers' attention away from the civilians." Lily shifted direction, curious to see if she could lure the soldier focusing on her from the fleeing crowd. It wasn't going to be a perfect plan and Lily was aiming to just be a frustration and not seeking to fight or kill any of the stormtroopers. She was all too aware that any violent acts she did could be twisted into blame on the Jedi for this. She had seen it all before.

All Lily did was focus on saving who she could and keeping herself alive. "We can't stay put, keep moving." Lily called out to Malcolm who was still attempting to call out for aid. Lily just didn't feel confident that anyone would be able to arrive in time to do anything. They had to just keep shifting focus away from the civilians. And Lily wasn't able to do any more big Force moves, she was having to conserve the rest of her energy to being able to move as fast as possible in case the lead soldier attempted to continue to fire at her.

"Keep moving!" Malcolm yelled to the fleeing protesters as he reached out with the Force and dragged nearby parked speeders between himself and the stormtroopers to form a barricade. "Don't stop until you reach safety!" He knew those speeders weren't going to last long, and he spared a thought for the owners whose property he was putting in the line of fire, but better property damage than loss of life. He reinforced the barricade with a Force barrier until the civilians were out of sight, then released the barrier and ran to his X-Wing.

The Stormtroopers rallied, but stopped when Sid gave the order to halt. The Jedi were retreating, the civilians laying dead and strewn about the engagement. One of his Sergeants approached. Sid removed his helmet, watching the Jedi retreat with what remained of the protestors.

"Call a medical transport. Get our wounded aboard. No triage. I want all of my men going home, Sergeant. Tell the aid stations that we have a mass casualty situation. They'll need fresh blood transfusions. Start getting men together with blood types." The Sergeant nodded, turning away to carry out the orders. Already, medical shuttles and medevac vehicles were appearing to ferry off the wounded and unfortunately dead Troopers. Sid grabbed the Sergeant by the arm, remembering something. "Get me a count of our dead. We need to report to command that the Jedi agitated these dissenters."

The Sergeant nodded, and hurried off. Sid waved over six Stormtroopers. He looked about the civilian casualties.

"Execute any survivors."

He said coldly, watching the Jedi run off into the distance. He had no real reason to pursue them, nor the desire to. They'd only lose more men, and two dead Jedi were not going to turn the tide in the war. The Jedi had already lost. They had pushed the Imperials, tested their resolve. And at their feet, lay more dead. The Jedi had proven nothing to the galaxy but that the Imperials were right. So cowardly, they had used the innocents as shields, as political tools to grandstand, to prove a point. They had caused the deaths of all these people for their own ends, and ran away when their usefulness had ended. If the Jedi had not been there, Sid theorized that they could've pushed the dissenters back, perhaps even deployed something non-lethal to disperse their unholy and rebellious actions.

And yet, here they were, once more, standing above the dead because of the Jedi.

Sid turned his head towards the dead at his feet, and felt pity.

There were so many that got away.

The lives saved were ones that would have been imprisoned, tortured or even killed by Empire for attempting to voice discontent with the way this Galactic Empire had attempted to take control over their world. There were no attempts to use non-lethals, Lily had seen that first hand and she knew that imperial broadcasters would attempt to show her or the protestors as agitators or aggressors. But Lily could only hope that people would see with their eyes that Lily did nothing until the imperial stormtroopers started lethally firing upon the crowd.

"They never even tried to just let the people run home. Death was their only course of action." Lily sighed to herself as she contemplated everything that happened. Did she enjoy leaving behind the massacre that occurred? No, but it wasn't a fight that she could win, it wasn't a fight that should have even happened in the first place. No protest should turn into a massacre.

Yet this one did and Lily had to accept that all she could do was all that she did do. "Need to give a full report to the High Republic on what happened here and hopefully this injustice will be made right." Lily chewed the inside of her cheek as she felt the weight of deep emotions on everything that happened and the heartbreak that came with feeling like it was not enough.

"Never again, they can never do this again." Lily sighed to herself.

Aurelian didn't look at Dominique at first. His hands stayed on the console, fingers locked hard enough to ache. He could still see Sibylla's blood when he blinked. It sat behind his eyes like a brand.

When Dominique spoke his title, he finally turned his head. Not fully. Just enough to acknowledge her. He lifted one hand, palm out. A concession. He understood exactly what she was saying. He hated it for being true.

Assaulting officers. Shooting war. Trapping her on Corellia. All clean logic. All the right words. He could hear the bridge breathing again around them, the careful silence of people pretending they hadn't just watched their king unravel.

Aurelian swallowed once, forcing the heat down into something colder. "You're right," he said, voice low. Not an apology, but close enough to count. "I know."

He didn't add anything else. Dominique could do the talking. She was good at it. She could walk the line without falling off. He couldn't, not right now. His gaze flicked to the comms station. Bastila's channel was still live. So was Loken's. So was the transport's telemetry. Sibylla was moving. Still alive. That was all that mattered.

Aurelian straightened and stepped back from the console. "Handle your business, Chancellor."

He didn't wait for a response. He turned and strode off the bridge, boots striking hard against the deck plating as he headed for the hangar. He needed to see her. To make sure she made it back onto his ship, under his eyes, with medics already waiting.

He could take the emotion out of it later. Right now, he was going to meet her at the ramp.

Cassian stayed a few paces behind them as they moved, keeping the rear like a locked door.

The corridor his people carved held, shields up, rifles angled down but ready, bodies forming a moving wall through smoke and debris. Cassian's eyes never stopped sweeping. The places where fire and fanaticism liked to hide and strike.

They reached the evac transport at a run, its ramp down, engines whining impatiently. Troopers snapped into position around it, creating a hard perimeter. Cassian slowed only when they carried Sibylla aboard. Then Cassian's voice cut through the noise, low and sincere. "Thank you, Bastila," he said, meeting the Jedi's gaze for a brief moment. "Take care of her."

The hatch sealed. The transport lifted, clearing the ground ahead with a wash of heat and dust, pulling Sibylla away from the heart of Kor Vella's burning madness. Cassian tracked it until it vanished into the smoke and the broken skyline.

Only then did he turn back.

The street still screamed. Fires still ate buildings. The Cult's chant still drifted like a sickness on the wind. Cassian looked to the troopers left with him, their faces hard behind their helmets, waiting for what came next.

"We still have work to do." he said, and started forward into the chaos.

Da'Razel's presence slipped back through the smoke like a blade withdrawn, and the cult's line wavered with it.

Aiden did not give them time to recover. He pushed forward, blue blade flashing in tight, efficient arcs, quickness and precision, not rage. He turned flamers aside with angled deflections, cut canisters from harnesses before they could be raised, and drove the front rank backward step by step.

Shiraya's Hope and the civilians surged behind cover as Mishel, Alina, and Abel held the edges. Aiden stayed at the front, a clean line of light in the choking haze, forcing the cultists away from the fleeing families.

Aiden advanced again, blade humming steady. He was not leaving Kor Vella until the civilians were safe.
