Private The Phrik Consulate - Susfevi

Faith currently enroute to Susfevi -

The Outer Rim Territories - the planet Susfevi - a planet with a past. Many planets had a past what mattered now was today. This was now under the control of the Rimward Trade League, Faith was trying to learn more about them and what they represented.

The Eternal Empire was closeby, as well as Bespin. She had an old friend on Bespin who would offer a bed and a drink if she needed it. Faith had no idea what she would need after all of this travel. But she wanted to trade Alderaan goods help the economy of Alderaan, and build relationships that would help refugees across the galaxy find safety.

She hoped her talks with Mya Jesel Mya Jesel would provide clarity on status and what would be allowed here in the Outer Rim.

Becca was quiet, "She's a President Faith. This visit out here is not"

Faith nodded, "No Becca we aren't looking to cause problems we are looking to provide safety for refugees and an Alderaani that want to return to Alderaan." There were also those that wanted asylum and needed an oasis to retreat to until help could arrive.

But what would Madam President Jesel say.

"Where are we to meet them?"

Becca began thumbing through pages on her tablet looking for the answer.

Mya took a slow sip from the cup of the seaweed tea, assessing the datapad on the table in front of her. She sat at a table on a porch overlooking the cliff's edge to the sea below Yumfla. It was relatively early in the morning, with the sun rising above the horizon and burning through the morning haze. Suarbi's gas form hung behind her, reflecting sunlight.

She was meeting with the queen of Alderaan today. That would be interesting. It was rare that heads of states from Core governments would come out all this way. But they were looking for embassies and trade deals of some sort. Those she could do. They would increase the flow of goods through the Five Veils route, as well as the main League worlds.

Praesitlyn could especially use some agreements with their burgeoning agricultural and hydroponic sector, as well as their interstellar communications cooperative. There were numerous more opportunities there that would benefit the world's people.

That earned a note on her datapad for a priority in the discussion. If they could increase ties between Alderaan and Praesitlyn, that would be a boon for the world. Give them a boost as they reworked their economy from relying on their broadcast center.

"They should be arriving shortly," an aide said, checking a chrono.

Mya nodded. "Is the escort and everything prepared?"

"Yes, several of the other Council members will go meet them and escort them here for the meeting," the reply came back.

"Excellent," Mya said, leaning back in the chair. "Let us see what they have to say."

Becca cleared her throat, "you realize this is what started the problems on Kuat. That they wanted to make deals and trade goods with folks outside of the Alliance. And with the elections so close doing this could....maybe bring problems for Alderaan and Alicio Organa Alicio Organa in the Senate."

Faith stood still, "Right now the Consulate is the priority there are still many Alderaani in the Outer Rim that chose not to go to New Alderaan, I want them to have a choice to come home. I want the refugees running from the Brotherhood to find a safe haven."

"Yes Mam, but is this place a safe haven" Becca said Mam a clear sign to Faith that Becca did not agree. This time Faith turned to face her assistant, "Becca."

"What does Susfevi offer? What will they ask for in return? I don't understand is all."

Faith had to admit out here so far from the Core, and on the other side of the galaxy from the Brotherhood....what did they offer aside from maybe allowing them to build the consulate.

Becca looked at the ground, Faith nodded, "Its a negotiation Becca, if it is meant to be it will and if not...well then not. "

Becca, "The Council is on its way to meet us."

Faith walked slowly with Becca, she would meet the Council half way. All the while her mind worked on the opening greetings for President Jesel.

Mya nodded after a moment and stood, deactivating her datapad and finishing her drink with a long drink. That done, she strode from the room to meet the rest of the League Council, at least the available ones. She wasn't sure who else might be joining.

She joined the others outside the door with their small escort from the Ranger Corps as they all swept out to the waiting speeder, which sped through the city streets to the spaceport to meet the Alderaan delegates.

A consulate, at least, was one of the goals, and that was certainly reasonable. It would be interesting to see what else could happen. They soon came to a stop, and Mya opened the door to step out and await the delegates at the center of the pad.

Faith knew Becca had a point and she didn't need to be reminded, or did she. Was the Consulate so important that she conveniently forgot Alliance Law?

Faith stopped for a moment closing her eyes reminding herself to focus.

To her left she heard the whisper from Becca, "They are here"

Faith nodded took a deep breath, put on her diplomatic smile and moved ensuring everyone kept up as her pace increased. As she got closer she could see a group waiting patiently for her to get her act together.

Who speaks first again? So long since she had done this. Becca of course stepped a bit faster, "Good Morning President Jesel, may I present the Queen of Alderaan Faith Organa." Faith nodded to Becca a short thank you for reminding her of all things.

"Good Day Madam President and Council Members, I appreciate all of you taking time to meet with me today" In her mind Faith saw the switch flip, diplomatic Faith was ready to talk.

Mya reined her mind in, focusing on the moment, calculating her words and her tone even as she walked forward to meet the delegation from Alderaan.

"Welcome to Susevfi, Queen Organa," Mya said, stepping forward with a wide smile. "We're glad you were able to come out and visit us. I trust the journey was not too difficult?"

If it were, she would have words with the Admiralty Court and the Rescue Service Commandant. Their jobs were to make interstellar travel smooth, safe, and reliable. But she was a realist. Space was the ultimate metaphor for the limitations of sentience. It could only be fractionally understood and not at all controlled. Predicted, perhaps, at least at the most basic level of the movement of stars and planets, but so much more could never be predicted.

"We have a guest suite prepared for you if you would like to recover some before we begin our conferencing." She stepped to one side of the area and held her arm towards the waiting speeder. "Or, if not, the meeting space is all ready for us as well."

"The journey was smooth and without incident thank you for asking" The journey had gone well it was only Becca's constant questions that made it frustrating. She only hoped that Becca remembered to be quiet during the talks, Faith had made sure to invoke the speak when spoken to rule with Becca for all conferences. As of late the young woman had become extremely opinionated.

She couldn't help but wonder if there was more going on then she realized.

Anyhow.

"Oh no I'm good we can begin the talks now. A small break may be needed later." Faith walked alongside the President, "I have been looking forward to this meeting President Jesel. Alderaan needs friends throughout the galaxy, I'm hoping that we can strike and accord that is beneficial to both our worlds"

Becca coughed.

Faith kept smiling as she slid into the waiting speeder. She smoothed her clothing out of habit and nerves, "Is there anything about Susefvi I should know and understand" Some piece of history, some injustice, some anything that could impact relationships.

"Excellent, that is what we like to hear," Mya said, stepping aside to let them pass. "We have been working quite extensively over the past ten years to stabilize and smooth interstellar travel here on the Rim, so I am glad to hear that it seems to be working, at least coming from the Core through the Five Veils Route."

She waited for everyone else to enter the speeder before taking her seat as it sped towards the presidential building.

"And certainly, the galaxy is lacking in friendships, and we all suffer for it."

It was easy enough to say, but there was more to it. Friendship relied on trust. And trust was more valuable than beskar in the state the galaxy was in.

The question was interesting. She had done extensive research on Alderaan before this, but she supposed it wouldn't always include the local perspective, which she did appreciate.

"We were colonized four hundred years before the battle of Yavin," Mya explained, "Primarily be people fleeing the Corporate Sector, so we tend not to trust megacorporations. And we have been member states of the Omega Protectorate, the previous Galactic Alliance, and the Outer Rim Coalition. We are quite tired of being used in other's crusades."

It was not long before they reached the large building atop a mesa and Mya led them through the corridors towards the balcony porch over the ocean prepared for them.

She gestured to the seats around the table. "Please, make yourselves comfortable."

It was a ploy perhaps on her part when she asked a question it was to judge the free exchange of information, she could remember vaguely the Omega Protectorate but now the Galactic Alliance and Outer Rim Alliance she knew both well. She nodded, "thank you for reminding me of how much the galaxy changes and that perhaps the only thing that stands steady is the bonds built between worlds, and friends. While we may begin today as strangers, I am hoping that in time that will change."

Everyone needs friends everyone followed along to the final meeting place Faith stood looking out to the oceans, "My family loves the ocean no matter where you are when you look upon the waves remind you of a memory. Sometimes memory is all we have left" Faith nodded, "sorry sometimes my emotions overtake me."

Faith found a seat with Becca nearby. "President Mya Jesel Mya Jesel I am not one to beat around bushes so to speak, Alderaan would like to build a consulate here. Its presence would give others a beacon to come to should they need it, and any of the Alderaani wandering the galaxy could stop here and get help. As well as a refugee looking for assistance. I would like you to consider allow it, and what you would require from us for such an effort?"

"Stability," Mya said, raising her glass in a half-salute, "Is as much an illusion as control. Adaptability and flexibility, it seems, will be worth more in the long run."

She paused as Faith got surprisingly emotional, carefully looking in the opposite direction over across the ocean, nodding in agreement until they returned to business.

"We can certainly establish formal relationships between Susevfi and Alderaan," Mya agreed, returning to focus on the table. "The normal niceties can be arranged, and we can work within the budget of your diplomatic corps to help identify a location if you desire. Otherwise, our only real ask in exchange would be to establish one on Alderaan."

Faith's attention was fully on Mya Jesel Mya Jesel she had quite skillfully ignored her moments of wistful thought. A longing really for the past missing her family, those she had grown up with. Her heart was with them.

The conversation did swing back Faith was grateful, the RTL was about maintaining autonomy and strengthening their ties to others for support and economics.

"By placing a Consulate on Alderaan for Susefvi would give you rights to cross Alliance space. Does the RTL have an other relationships with the Alliance?" These were serious discussions and to understand the full picture of what she was asking and what the ask was in return needed to be understood.

That was the question, wasn't it. Did the League have formal relations with the Alliance? Ultimately, the answer was no. They typically worked strictly through back-channels and unofficial networks, shifting bits of intelligence to the Alliance on Maw, Sith, and Imperial movements in the Outer Rim. That and the privateers preying on the Maw and Imperial shipping and war material, although they needed to rethink their strategy if they were going to have any significant impacts.

"We do not, no," Mya said, "Not as Susevfi, at least, and the League's connections with the Alliance are strictly unofficial and off the record. We strongly opposed the Senate's role in allowing corporate entities to control the areas of the former Confederacy that they annexed, although in many other ways, we are aligned."

There was the answer officially no, "I did not agree with that decision either. But we have a new Chancellor coming in, perhaps I can have the Alderaan Senator speak with the Chancellor and see if she would consider changing that law."

She would need to speak with Alicio Organa Alicio Organa and perhaps Auteme Auteme and Dracken Pryce Dracken Pryce .

"Establishing a consulate is not a business deal it is political. If we establish a political diplomatic relationship between our worlds, Alderaan could serve a place for you and the Alliance to meet on a neutral ground."

This was a tricky thing to do for certain.

"I see no reason why you cannot build a consulate on Alderaan. There are a few things that would stop it. Alderaan will not have a relationship with a world that participates in the buying and selling of slaves, supports any Sith or Maw campaigns, or movements against the Alliance."

She kept her gaze on Mya Jesel Mya Jesel years in the Senate had given her some skill in reading others. It wasn't always successful. So far, the hair on her arm wasn't standing up a good sign.

That brought a hint of a smile to Mya's face. "What is politics but the business of influence? Credits or votes, they're both currencies of power."

She leaned back, a raised eyebrow. "Are you implying that you are concerned that the League permits slavery or would work with the Maw?"

That was almost insulting. "We have had letters of marque and reprisal issued against the Sith, Maw, and the New Imperial Order for many years by now and our charter explicitly forbids slavery."

Ahh there it was she was insulted, good, not good in that Faith had offended her but good in that she was offended that someone would even mention Slavery and Sith in conjunction with the RTL. Yes she knew about what the Charter said but she had been around the galaxy once or twice and knew that sometimes what was on paper did not always reflect the Leader or the people. So Faith would suffer whatever barbs would come her way but she felt better knowing that President Mya Jesel Mya Jesel was insulted. This was opportunity, maybe in time a sister to Sanctuary City out here too.

How many more could they help if they did this? The potential for more loomed up, but first Faith needed to assure them she meant no harm.

"My apologies if I insulted you that was not my intention. I abhor these things so much they are part of my mantra when speaking with others. I feel they need to know our position. Not everyone knows the history Alderaan, or how much people across galaxy live in fear of these things. Alderaan having a consulate on Susefvi would bring Alderani traditions with it. Please forgive me."

"Hmm," Mya commented dryly, glancing back down at the datapad, to check on any updates on negotiations. "Perhaps, although Alderaan is quite famous, even this far out on the Rim." She managed to keep her voice even and free of irony. "Though I suspect the fear of what you hint at is well-known. I am more surprised that Imperials are not in that list."

She leaned back in the chair, one finger resting on her chin as she considered. "It was the original empire which once destroyed Alderaan, was it not? But no matter, I suppose." She waved one hand idly before nodding. "Alderaan traditions would be most welcome here. They can serve to enrich the lives of all who pass through here."

Mya slid a datapad across a table. "Would you happen to know what sort of location you would require for a consulate?"

"It was the original Empire they were quite efficient at destruction, and many other things that subdued the people across the galaxy." Yes They had blown Alderaan into rubble a graveyard of stones. "We are very fortunate to of had Alderaan reborn" Reborn and continuing with their purpose - helping refugees across the galaxy.

The President may not be convinced of Faith's apology but Faith hoped to earn her trust in time. Yes the hope was they would become friends and allies for the future.

"I have given this some consideration, if it is possible we'd like to be in the Capital the thought being that it is where most would gravitate to, and it offers the availability of flight. But if that is not possible, perhaps you have an area in mind that you want to develop as a diplomatic district." Faith was flexible on this except she didn't want to be far away from the Capital.

"Indeed," Mya agreed, "And their surviving warlords held us hostage to use as a base after the emperor's death. We do what we can to make sure it doesn't happen again."

At Faith's words, Mya pulled up a small holoprojector and opened a map of the moon, zooming in on the Yumfla area. "We're in the capital here at Yumfla, the primary metropolis. The other most densely inhabited and industrious areas in the system are primarily based on space stations. That would be less than ideal for a consulate."

She adjusted the map to orient it north-south, with the coastline running from east to west, and the city sprawling along the shoreline. "We're here, at the moment." A spot was highlighted, indicating the government building that housed the legislative and executive areas. "This is one of the older parts of the city, with a lot of smaller buildings packed next to each other. We could get you in there, but it may be difficult to reconfigure the older layouts. Further out, we have the business district that is more or less the city's downtown. Lots of newer skyscrapers and highrises there."

"As for a diplomatic district," Mya considered for a moment. "Most of the League's business is conducted on space stations, so we have not put much thought into it. It could be a possibility, however."

Faith looked at each area that Mya Jesel Mya Jesel showed to her, she could see how close the buildings were it was a very close knit city. Perhaps not the best spot to have a Consulate."It is close, I do love the water though..but it isn't about that. It's about the people we can talk with, help, reach out" Faith's gaze moved along each map.

"I find there is an appeal to put it on a space station. It wouldn't need to be very big. A reception area, Quarters for the representative, a meeting room...and communications, security...:"Yes Faith could see it in her mind. "Is there room on a station that would fit us? We'd renovate where needed, and bring in some of the inhabitant of Susefvi for staff."

Behind her she could hear Becca shuffle her feet slighly Becca had a fear of long term space assignments. Many did, it could be cold, distant, and sometimes very uncomfortable.

Faith Organa Faith Organa

"There is certainly room aboard space stations," Mya said, tilting her head to consider. "I don't keep track of the stations currently in orbit off the top of my head, but we're in the early design stages for an official government station."

It was in the conceptual phases over with the Outer Rim Manufacturing Union, as far as she was aware, but that would give everyone the time they needed to be prepared for the transfer. It would be easy enough to integrate a dedicated diplomatic area aboard the station.

"Right now, we're renting places in one of the commercial stations."
