Halketh

Libertas quae sera tamen

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To expand on the lore of Lord Halketh and The Carlaci Corps- to provide writers with a better point of reference when encountering Lord Halketh's army.
  • Image Credit: Carlaci Corps Insignia by the writer
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: Lord Halketh | The Carlaci Corps | Carlac | Undead Trooper Wookiepedia | Tsaiwinokka Hoyakyut
    GENERAL INFORMATION
    • Army Name: The Sixteenth Carlaci Corps, AKA "The Perished"
    • Classification: Personal Army
    • Affiliation: Sole fealty to Lord Halketh
    • Army Symbol: Winged, bird-like silhouette with a skull and arrow encircled across the span. Noticeably, the insignia is the same as The Carlaci Corps', save for a color choice of maroon versus orange.

      PicsArt_04-05-09.18.58.png
    • Description: An army of undead troopers operating under hive-mind type control as front-line combatants, guerillas, and shock troopers.
      SOCIAL INFORMATION
    • Headquarters: Carlac
    • Goals: To execute Lord Halketh's will.
    • Reputation: The greater organization of The Carlaci Corps is well known across its homeworld, the New Imperial Order, and the galaxy- however, the existence of The Perished is mostly a rumor, though one that often fills people with doubt and dread nonetheless. The most common consensus seems to be tolerance of the undead's presence on the battlefield, so long as it's on friendly terms. Enemies of Lord Halketh may already know of his army from time on the battlefield fighting against it, or from the traumatized tales of those survivors who have. The Perished are a ruthless, viscerally violent, and efficient fighting force who seem almost unstoppable at face value.
      COMPOSITION INFORMATION
    • Army Size: Large. Due to the nature of "service" the ranks of the army may rise and fall dramatically, fluctuating based solely on the time and effort Halketh and his sorcerous compatriots are able to fuel in efforts to raise more corpses into undeath and the sheer volume of corpses the Carlaci Corps is able to retrieve in secret from the battlefield to provide for the spell.
    • Composition: Exclusively the undead are equipped to serve as shock troopers, sporting the same kit and equipment across the ranks, regardless of the situation. Various grades of weaponry, from slugthrowers to blasters, may be seen in the troopers' hands, and each of them is dressed in the standard armor of The Carlaci Corps, but brandishing the red insignia rather than the orange. Upon their surface, these troopers look almost exactly the same as their living counterparts, which is where their primary advantage lay before combat begins. Their movements may be unsteady and unnatural, providing some indication to external forces that they aren't exactly what they seem. Of course, once combat begins and the troopers sustain damage, it is blatantly apparent they are no regular, mortal men, but something inhuman entirely.

    HISTORICAL INFORMATION
With Carlac's rise to prominence within New Imperial space and beyond, its newly appointed autocrat determined an army was to be raised. While he set forth to recruit a volunteer force in The Carlaci Corps, his Dark proclivities and desires drove him to push deeper and challenge greater convention, especially where Imperial ideals are concerned. Taboo as it is to the New Imperials, Halketh and his sorcerous companions work to fashion an army that fights harder, longer, and better. Strangely ironic in his maddened mortality, Halketh refused the human experimentation and implementation of nanogenes used across many of the New Imperial armies, and instead relied on something he was far more familiar with. While most frowned heavily upon his idea to craft an army of the damned from the bodies of fallen foes, The Vulture proceeded with it anyway, and thus, The Perished was established.

Making their first appearance during the New Imperial's initial assault on The Sith Empire's capital, The Perished was a vital part in the breach of Fortress Carnifex and the defeat of the forces within. Seeing this success, the Warlord expanded his efforts and recruited more sorcerers in secret, ramping up the growth of his army into something much more threatening.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
As with most traditional depictions of reanimated humanoid corpses, these mock-troopers have a variety of weaknesses. First and foremost, destroying the brain and or inflicting severe trauma to the brain has been proven to "kill" them a second time, rendering them incapacitated. Severing the limbs and dealing critical damage to the lower body can serve to slow them down greatly as well, though if able to move at all, it's been shown that they will continue to attempt to. These undead are capable of sustaining heavy physical damage without so much as flinching, however, massive physical trauma and bodily destruction will incapacitate them if one is unable to damage or destroy the brain. This is balanced by the standard-issue armor the troopers are equipped with, giving them additional protection where they need it most.

While using their inability to feel pain and fear to their advantage, the undead have a tendency to trample one another when in a frenzied state, resulting in a stampeding horde that isn't as effective as when they are neatly organized. These soldiers do not require oxygen to "survive" so attempting to deprive them of such is a useless endeavor. Gravitational shifts have been shown to disorient them to the point of vulnerability and even disable them in some cases, though it isn't proven to be an effective method of dispatch. Both open flame and heat have shown to have very high potency against the army. Hot environments serve to speed up the decay process, slowing the undead down tremendously, while cold environments create the opposite effect, allowing for the stagnation of decay and greater longevity of the corpsely soldiers.

These undead forces have demonstrated indifferent and even occasionally friendly behavior towards individuals and collectives that Lord Halketh himself is amicable towards, suggesting they act based upon his exertion of will. It has been postulated the army as a whole could become incapacitated if Lord Halketh is killed and his control is forcibly released, though another theory suggests that removal of his control would result in The Perished becoming entirely hostile to all living creatures.

Their bites to the living have consistently developed blood infections, resulting in severe, excruciating sickness. Symptoms in those bitten include high fever, chills, sweating, vomiting, fainting, dizziness, mood swings, swelling of the wounded area, tenderness, vivid hallucinations, fatigue, and high sensitivity to light. This infection can be cured with high dosage antibiotics and proper rest, though it can be lethal to more vulnerable species and if left entirely untreated.
