"I.. Will not jump of a cliff again."

He had, of course. Not with the board, but he was far more resilient than most. Aris always had a need to test himself, especially as of late, and it had been one way to test his limits. The fact he was fine was a testament to just how strong he was. He tilted his head at her offer though, again glancing to his board. Would that properly help?

Maybe. It'd be at least one way to make sure he knew how to hold his board to keep from slipping off. That was the focus. He nodded his head, lowering his stance on the board.

"Toss me."

"Please don't. You don't want to give your poor Mother a heart attack, right?" No matter how strong her children would get, the mere idea of them getting hurt sent her heart into overdrive. It was that same, awful feeling she had whenever Kahlil was injured or in trouble somehow. When she felt like the lives of the people she loved the most were completely out of her control, and all she could do was watch while they were hurt.

There was nothing she hated more.

"If you can do the tricks safely, though... I won't be so worried." Which meant she was about to throw her son through the air on a homemade hoverboard.

At least she was close enough to help him if needed.

"Here goes!" Valery distanced herself quickly and raised her hand up. At first, Aris just began to move forward to build up speed, but once he stood steady enough, she suddenly accelerated him and gave him lift at the same time. He was forced into the air at high velocity, and the rest was up to him.

".. That's not how that works, right?"

He hadn't read up much on medical things, but that's not what could cause a heart attack, right? The concern was obvious in his face, but he didn't linger on it for long. Focus on safety first, that'd be the best way to ensure there wasn't a heart attack. Which also just faded from his mind the moment he was in the air. He grinned as he gripped his board. It seemed easy enough as he pulled, spun in the air before landing on the ground to take off across the field of grass again.

The rush of speed had put all worries to the way side.

Valery blinked, then chuckled, "Don't worry, I won't get a heart attack. I just meant that you shouldn't scare your Mom too much." Of course, it was actually possible to get a heart attack from a panic attack, but she was far too healthy and calm for that. Not worth troubling her son with that piece of information.

He looked so happy, spinning on a homemade board at dangerous speeds.

Valery smiled.

"That's it, sweetie!" She called out with a proud grin. "Do you want to try another? Maybe a different trick?" She was honestly just excited to be here with him, so as he turned around to head back, she gave him another bit of aerial time to try another trick. This time, however, she had a camera in her hands.

She loved taking pictures of her kids.

Aris was all grins. There was an ease here with how the board could move. He was quick to pick it up, quick to figure out how to angle and move it. He crouched as he went up one of the hills, letting himself launch off into another full twist. He could flip, too, right? By the grin on his face as he sped around, he was fully planning to, at least. He wasn't even listening anymore, too excited to instead keep flying to really pay attention to anything else. It ended up with him scooting around the grassy hills, twirling and spinning until bravery brought him to try a flip.

He succeeded, naturally. In the flip. The landing part was a bit choppy, but he didn't seem bothered in the slightest as he laughed and grinned. He was far more excited for all of this than he had been for much.

It was hard not to squeal — she was just so proud.

A long time ago, when she fantasized about one day having a family of her own, this is what she saw. Not just having a baby in her arms or a husband to embrace, but to see her children growing up and accomplishing things. Whether that was a choice of career path or something silly like learning a trick on a hoverboard didn't matter.

She was here to see her son living his life.

Valery felt her lips trembling a little and quickly wiped a tear from the corner of her eyes. Just so he wouldn't see her happy cry over this.

"That was great, sweetie! Can you do the flip again?" She raised her little camera and waited for the moment to capture it. Naturally, she wanted to show off how fun their day had been to her husband. He'd likely be just as proud and happy that this is how they spent their day.

...maybe a little worried, given the nature of these tricks.

"I should be able to!"

He crouched low again, kicking up the engine to the highest gear as he again sped off over the grass, then back to the water. He kicked off the surface, bringing the board with him in another flip before catching himself much better than he had the last time. A giddy sort of laugh escaped him as he did, his focus drifting ahead as his mind raced with different possibilities on what he wanted to try next.

She caught it all on tape.

Kahlil and Vera were definitely going to show off their golem project soon, so it was nice to show what she had been up to in return. From painting day with the triplets, to Aris showing off his tricks on a homemade hoverboard. What her children had accomplished was by far the most interesting to show off.

And she always would.

"That looked great!" Valery said with a grin, as she watched back the video to make sure it looked good. "Do you want to do more tricks? Or head back and work on the board over some cocoa?" If they gave it some upgrades, perhaps it'd be able to do a lot more. Or it'd just be faster and more exciting!

It made her just as giddy as he was.

Aris was still just skimming over the water. Even from this distance, he could hear Valery perfectly fine. A huge part of him wanted to keep working on new tricks, but she had mentioned hot chocolate. He smiled after a moment, swinging his board around to fly back towards his mother. He was thirsty, so.. He nodded once, hopping down off of it as he kicked it off and casually tucked it under one arm.

"Cocoa."

Cocoa it was.

Valery smiled and felt quite happy that her cocoa was still so good to him. It brought them closer, even though it was just a silly little thing. Turning away, Valery made her way back to the bike and climbed on top so they could start heading back. But as she did, she got an idea.

"Do you think we should put a turbo or some kind of boost on the board?" she asked with a grin. "You know, something that'll burn your fuel up much faster, but it can give you an edge when you really need it." A lot of vehicles meant to go fast had something like that, right?

It could bring him ahead in a race or help him escape if he ever needed to.

"If it means going faster I'm all for going faster."

Not that he could think of a situation where he'd need a burst of speed right at the moment. Races, most likely. Or avoiding getting hit by something? He hummed in his internal thoughts before he started to drift back to their home. Too much thinking, right now he just wanted his hot cocoa then it was back to fixing up the board and maybe making it look less like scrap and more like a proper vehicle. Maybe. He'd like to, at least, but there was no saying if he could or not. "I can bring friends over, right?"

"Then we make it faster," Valery said before looking at his board, "And prettier. We'll buy some good parts at the local shop, some paint and I'll help you with your little project." Valery was a terrible mechanic, so she'd leave that to Aris, Vera, and maybe some help from friends. But painting and artistic things, she could do! She had done a lot of work around the house to make it really feel like home.

She had this.

As they began to drive back home, Valery heard his question and blinked, "Friends, hm?" she smirked and seemed very happy to hear that. "If they're Jedi, you always can. If they're not, just talk to your Dad and me first, alright? We keep our home from most people for a very good reason." Aris knew all about Vera's capture, so she figured he'd understand.

"But unless you're wanting to bring back someone very troubled, it won't ever be a problem. So, bring them over and maybe invite them to have dinner with us? I'd love to meet them."

"They're not a Jedi yet, I think. If they want to be anyway." It was the one big thing he didn't want to pressure people into being. He took his time to come to the decision himself after all. Still, he smiled and nodded. "I think she'd like dinner. It's very important to her culture." And to the Epicanthix anyway, but not quite to the level he gleamed for Zaiya.

He paused for a moment before glancing to his board. It'd hit him like lightning, the memory, the thought. The bet. ".. How fast can we make it it needs to be really, really fast."

"Well, I'll make the best dinner, then. Maybe I can get your Dad to make something for dessert, too." She was sure that Kahlil would do that for the occasion, and if he wasn't home for it, she could give it a shot. He was definitely better at it, but she enjoyed cooking and baking enough to know how to make a few things.

She was going to be the coolest Mom to all of his friends.

Aris then turned to his board and rambled, as if he just remembered something. Valery blinked, tilted her head, and smirked at her son, "Don't worry, we'll make it faster than anything you need to beat. Trust me on that one." She snickered and guided him the last stretch back home.

It was cocoa time.

"Is your friend a friend of Vera, too? Or someone you met during a mission?"

"I met them on a mission with Master Bri, yes. I believe they're friends with Vera too, though. I can't say for certain, but they did seem to get along." He could hope they were friends, but it wasn't his place to say if Vera did indeed think of Zaiya Ceti as her friend. He hadn't asked her, which was more his own fault. Maybe he should? Right now he was most focused on the fact they could indeed make his board faster.

Fast enough to win the bet, he figured. "Dinner sounds nice, though. She really likes food."

"Well, let's make sure Vera is home when your friend visits, then. Hm?" She smiled and looked ahead as they were getting close to home again. She slowed down, parked her bike, and got off her seat to turn back to her son, "Vera has been having a harder time lately. She hasn't really wanted to talk about it yet, but I think it's her visions. Even when she was little, she'd get quiet and to herself whenever she saw something scary." Valery sighed and pursed her lips in thought. It was difficult, as a Mother, to know that your kid is struggling and be unable to take those worries away with a magic wand.

She needed to give Vera space to open up when she felt ready to do so, no matter what it was. Of course, she had no idea just what Vera had seen, and who it was about.

"Your Dad and I are preparing a festival on Niv Hani soon. You should bring your friends over for that as well. All of them." The more people she could expose to it, the better. It'd mean a lot to Kahlil, and that alone made her want to put in immense effort to make it a success.

"Is that what it is?"

Aris tilted his head as he glanced to his mother, almost frowning. Almost. All their childhood together Vera had been the more social of the two, making friends with just about anyone. It'd been worrying him greatly that it seemed to be flipped around. He loved his sister. The thing he really wanted was for her to have her own friends, or even just his own friends as hers. He smiled though, nodding his head.

"I will. Zaiya likes festivals. I think the others do too."

"Mhmm," Valery hummed, "She might not talk about it yet, but I'm her Mom. I can feel these things and I know it has happened before." Back when Kahlil had made his sacrifice, Vera had been troubled immensely by visions and nightmares of her father not coming home again. It made her isolate herself, almost the same way she was doing now. Perhaps it had been worse at the time because Kahlil was gone, but it still worried her that it was happening again.

What had she seen in hee visions that disturbed her this much?

Valery sighed and stepped off her bike when they reached their home, "She'll open up, though. She always does but only to her family. If she tells you something, just listen and give her the help she needs." It was a lot to ask, but Valery knew he wouldn't turn away when his sister needed him. Even if it was only to listen.

A festival would hopefully also cheer her up.

"Almost everybody does. I'm getting your Dad to make his famous pancakes for it, too. It'll be perfect."

"I'll help if I can, but there's only so much I know I can do."

There was only so much support he could give his sister. They were both still kids, after all. But if she needed someone to just sit with her and help her not feel alone? That he'd always do. A festival would certainly be good for her. Even just the last they'd gone to had her all smiles and happy. And, well, dad's pancakes were the absolute best. His smile returned as he nodded. "The pancakes will be good. They always are."

"I know. Your Dad and I never expect you to handle it all alone. But with these things, you often don't have to do much. Just being there is already a huge help, so she has someone to talk to, and that's the least family can do for each other. If she needs proper help, your dad and I will always handle that." Or whoever would be the best to do it. That could be her parents, her Master, or anybody else in the Order, depending on what she struggled with.

They'd always help their little star.

"I just know how close you two are, so I wanted to make sure you're aware and that she'll likely want to talk more to you at some point. If it's too much, just let me know, alright?" She beamed a warm smile at her son and led them inside the house. As promised, she went straight to the kitchen and began to work on a cup of hot cocoa for him.

"Is there anything you'd like to see at the festival? If you have ideas for games, activities, food, music, or anything, we can take it into account."
