The Moridinae Crusades

The Siege of Mandalore
Location: Mandalore
Date: 859 ABY
Thread(s):
War raged across the cosmos.

Many years ago, the United Mandalorian Clans and the Sith Empire had entered into a partnership where the Empire would aid the Clans in the event their territory was threatened. Conducted under the veil of cooperation, in reality the Empire considered the United Clans as a buffer state separating the Sith from the Silver Jedi Order to the galactic south.

However, events conspired to threaten the delicate balance the Empire had imposed. Responding to acts of Mandalorian aggression, the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the Silver Jedi Order, and the Core Imperial Confederation launched punitive strikes against the United Clans across a wide front. With losses mounting for the Mandalorians, the Sith were concerned that they would lose their valuable buffer and the worlds it contained. The Emperor called an emergency session of the Dark Council to consider the possibility of war.

Weeks later, the Sith Empire invaded the Mandalore system with a massive fleet comprised of thousands of warships and landing craft.

With the Sith Emperor leading the charge, the Empire assaulted the fortified defenses of Mandalore with unwavering tenacity. Thousands died in the opening volleys, with hundreds of thousands more to die as the battle raged on. The planetary shield was breached by the combined power of the Sith dreadnoughts, paving the way for the dropships and vehicle barges of the Sith fleet to disgorge their contents at strategic points across the planet's surface. Sundari itself was besieged ferociously, as was New Keldabe and other cities all over Mandalore.

The Sith's assault on Mandalore was eventually ground to a halt as both sides locked horns in a brutal stalemate that lasted for days, casualties mounting on both sides as the fighting grew more and more violent. The Sundari Palace was destroyed from the inside, the Sith Emperor considered MIA, while the Mandalorian leadership was either dead or had evacuated off-world during the fighting. What remained were a hundred different skirmishes and conflicts, all semblance of cohesion cast aside in exchange for a desperate scramble for survival.

It was the arrival of a second Sith invasion force that tipped the scales, the influx of fresh warriors proving too much for the Mandalorian defenders to handle. Those that were unable to flee the system were either destroyed or defiantly dug themselves in. Entire swaths of Mandalore were subjected to ferocious orbital bombardment to dislodge the Mandalorian insurgents, and only then was it considered viable to deploy Legionnaires to put an end to these last pockets of resistance.

Mandalore had fallen.

But the war had just begun.

Outcome:
  • Sith-Imperial Victory
    Mandalore is occupied by the Sith Empire
  • The United Clans of Mandalore fragments
  • The National Mandalorian State is formed as a puppet state by the Sith Empire

The Battle of Concord Dawn
Location: Concord Dawn
Date: 859 ABY
Thread(s):
Running concurrent to the Sith's brazen attack on Mandalore was their strike against Concord Dawn, an important Mandalorian world considered only second to Mandalore itself. Though smaller in scale than the attack on Mandalore, Concord Dawn was nonetheless an important strategic objective for the Sith Empire. They committed hundreds of warships to the endeavor, and dispatched some of their most talented warriors and sorcerers to eradicate any resistance that would pose a threat to the capitulation of the system.

Joining the Sith were several Mandalorian Clans who had allied themselves with the Sith in pursuit of greater glory and prosperity. Two of the larger and stronger clans were Clan Amun and Clan Munin, both having committed many troops to the endeavor and were anticipating a mighty compensation of land and resources for their sacrifices.

In the end, Concord Dawn fell the same as Mandalore. Those who remained behind to bleed the Sith found themselves beset on all sides, driven into the wilds and underground by the brutality of the Empire. True to their word, the Sith awarded the Mandalorian Clans who had pledged themselves to the Empire the property of the Clans who had arrayed themselves in defiance against the Emperor. Clan Amun and Clan Munin were granted the lion's share of Concord Dawn, with the smaller clans receiving gradually diminishing shares in relation to their Clan size and contributions to the war effort.

Outcome:
  • Sith-Imperial Victory
    Concord Dawn is occupied by the Sith Empire
  • Land and property is divided up among the Mandalorian Clans who allied with the Sith Empire
  • The Empire commences several operations to reignite large-scale agriculture on Concord Dawn
