Nei Laa

Grumpy cat? No no no -- grumpy squid!

Nei decided to do a very immature thing.

Dragging her attention away from Lisa, she put her visor up, blew a raspberry at Cryax, and put it back down.

Ignoring anything the Chiss might have said after, Nei withdrew her pistols as the other Jedi came towards them. "It be three on three!" the Nautolan shouted back. "And there be no such thing as a fair trial! Politics are stupid!" With that comment Nei opened fire on the Jedi; while some of her bolts were direct, some were deliberately scattered, going high, low, low, high, low, in an attempt to confuse or overwhelm her. Nei had learned from her last fight with a Force User that sometimes, the direct approach isn't the best.

Corvus reflects this was no ordinary thug as she sensed the Force in play. The daggers were no doubt impervious to her saber and this adversary was clearly ready to fight dirty.

As she landed she momentarily closed her eyes and entered Center of Being. Her first hope was still to disarm the woman and arrest her. Lethal force was the last thing on her mind. But in between the two opposites were a lot of outcomes where it was Corvus that ended up on the wrong end of the decision.

And then she sensed Varus involvement and yet again, took her focus away from her adversary and instead centred on him. She was aware of his effort, which was admirable but in doing so, allowed the kick to her back to land. Flying forward, she landed awkwardly but jumped to her feet. Still no bones broken but the blood on the floor from her arm where she landed would take some cleaning. And she was aware of a warm trickle from the recent scar that she'd had healed just below her lip. It was very Han Solo. Wiping it away with the back of her sleeve, she spoke slow and with a determined glare.

"OK, the kid gloves are off. If at anytime you want to surrender, just let me know. Otherwise, prepare to dance.". She raised her saber hand and showed her the classic Soresu opening stance. And she lightly touched the Padawan's mind with a simple message that she hoped he would receive. 'Thanks but help Kana, I can manage here.'

Of course, the other Jedi made a beeline for he and Nei. When the young woman threatened them with a trial, that was enough to spark a fresh wave of panic from the Chiss. Trial meant the possibility of jail, and after spending a week being tortured in a Black Suns jail cell on Kessel, Cryax was not about to put himself anywhere near a judge or jury. Even just the thought of sitting prison cell unleashed an uncomfortable amount of cognitive dissonance that drowned out all other rational thought besides the simple phrase: Jail bad.

The only thing that stopped him from instantly bolting was Nei. He couldn't in good conscience leave any Ravens behind. They might have been criminals but they still had a code. And he might have been useless to her cornered like this, but he still wouldn't leave her.

Then Nei suddenly opened fire. Cryax dropped his Datapad and picked up his blaster, keeping his aimed trained on the Jedi woman. If it meant that he could avoid jail, maybe shooting them wasn't such a bad thing after all.

Lisa growled as the woman's saber came to bear. She recognized her stance, Soresu and it was a defensive stance, requiring a bit of movement. She had not sparred in a long time and normally used a form closer to Vapaad than any. As here eyes scanned the Jedi for a weakness she laughed again, this time eviler, saturated with the darkside.

Glass windows around them shattered and she roared at the Jedi.

"Cute with the saber! Matches your eyes!"

Lisa flung both poisoned daggers at her, aiming dead center. As they flew she dropped to one knee flinging back her head and closing her eyes. Red battle rage misted her mind and her hands rose up into the air at her sides. She grasped the shards of glass and the rocks within her immediate radius.

With the force she willed them into the air, sun glinting off them making them appear to be a hundred in number when they were actually far fewer. The beast within stirred, it longed for blood for carnage.

"How well can you dodge?"

Corvus was already aware that this encounter could drag on - and the last thing she needed was to allow herself to overextend her use of the Force. Better to let her opponent fatigue herself if she could. But first she had to deal with the immediate threat.

The Force guided her to deflect the daggers. They bounced from her saber and embedded themselves in the roof of the hangar. But the flying shards of glass were a different kettle of fish. A barrier would be too taxing and acrobatics were not an option due to the volume of glass. So she kept it simple. Her saber moved with the will of the Force. There was no conscious effort to deflect or block the pieces of window - she simply allowed the blade to be guided. One glanced off her saber and pierced the skin of her shin, leaving a nasty gash - but otherwise she'd been spared.

Before the wave of flying glass finished, Corvus took one hand from the saber and summoning the Force, simply pushed the remaining shards in the direction of the sniper. Time to take the fight to her opponent.

Varus wasted no time after having heard Corvus in the force, his sapphire eyes trailing off afterm Kana as she approached the other pair of scoundrels. As she did, Varus turned his attention to them as well. He turned and began walking in their direction, perplexed by the thought of a two on two duel with these thieves.

As Varus started across the docking bay after Kana he activated his temporary light saber, flicking the activation on the hilt. From it a blue, brilliant light burst forth and hummed with a vigor for the impending fight. He held it out to his right side, point to the ground as he walked, his pace picking up step by step. He hadn't picked out a style to use just yet, and so he'd decided on using one that he'd been developing himself in his spare time. The way of the Accipiter.

His stride turned into a jog, then a sprint, until he was close to Kana. When be was, he slid to a halt, snapped his feet together and turned his body sideways, to lower his surface area that could be targeted. He then held out his saber, facing Cryax and Nei Laa at a diagonal angle facing tip up as he slowly approached them, eyes trained on their weapons as he took careful, small steps to advance his position. "You should leave.", he warned as he waited for someone to make a move.

…-And so the tango went up, down, down, up, down, A, B and the cheat code to blocking blaster bolts had been punched in. The Chiss joined in and Kana had no other option but to let herself be lead in a small and brief yet incredibly lethal dance. Okay, maybe she was over exaggerating a little.

With a steady pace she approached the nautolan slowly. Step, for step, for step she closed the gap between them as [member="Varus Shatterstar"] joined in and offered quite sound advice for the two criminals. They could go, the dark jedi could not. It was their duty to bring her to the Order and face charges. Be severed from the force or offered a chance to repent, right? Come to think of it Kana couldn’t quite remember what the protocol on them were but it seemed like a good guess.

“My friend here is correct.” Kana glared behind her saber. “We're still not being unreasonable, the two of you are welcome to leave at anytime. Unless of course you enjoy a good trial or two, then just keep doing what you're doing. Choice is yours, really.”

There was no point in wasting force energy on this. All Kana would really have to do was to get close enough to disable their weapons, nothing else.

As the glass came back towards her Lisa could sense a destabilization in her force connection. The dark current of her attack had been altered and reversed. Now she was on the other side of the flying glass shards. There was time to dodge, aided by the force. There was time put up a barrier, or deflect.

But Lisa was not eager to allow the Jedi to close and her saber work had been her tell. She would rather work through her blade with the force than apply it as a weapon.

This is the folly of the Jedi she projected to Corvus So weak and dainty

Roaring she gathered her strength once more clenching both fists and rising to her feet. As she rose the force grasped the nearest manhole cover and ripped it free of the street with the sound of screeching banshees. The metal disk whirled in between Lisa and the glass. Small clinks and crashes filled the air as the pieces shattered into yet more pieces and began to fall to the ground.

Several red hot sensations alerted her to the fact that some had passed around her makeshift shield. Her flesh was rent along her arms and sides, small cuts and crimson blood marked her where her quarry had returned the shards.

Pressing her brief advantage was of the essence. She threw the manhole straight towards Corvus, and the glass pieces now multiplied rose into the air, spinning like tops as they spread out. Both of Lisas hands unclenched and clapped together, sending a force push that sent the wall of spinning mini shards racing again towards the jedi.

The thing people forgot about the Force - and Jedi and Sith alike fell foul of this - was that broadly speaking it followed the laws of physics. A Force Push sent objects in a given direction and unless something intervened, they travelled in a straight line.

So Corvus travelled up.

Using Force Valor she committed to solving two problems at once. Her high somersault allowed her to both leap over the oncoming debris and close the gap further. Clearly her adversary preferred to keep her distance - so why would Corvus oblige? She still wanted to end this contest peacefully but end it she must - and soon.

As the Jedi travelled upwards Lisa swore. But now she was vulnerable and in the air. Yes physics were a fun thing.

She did not roar this time. Now the dark current of energy switched gears inside her, ramping up into a torrential tide of evil. The energy surged to the fore and both hands split their fingers into arching claws.

Over the past few months Lisa had been practising every chance she got to unleash her next attack. She practised on the living, on the dead and on herself. As she had grown in strength she had gone from simply summoning the dark purple energy around her hands, to transferring it and now shooting it out.

As dark forces coalesced in her palms a single spark began to jump, purple and flickering between her palms. As the storm of rage grew, fed by the pain of her bleeding wounds and her annoyance with the jedi the electricity intensified. Pure hatred warped into dark bolts of venomous purple cascading up and down her fore arms, dancing between her finger tips.

Both hands outstretched she released the charge, unleashing a chaotic blast of force lightning. Three two second bursts erupted from her palm, flickering in the shadowy space and illuminating the area in intense violet hues. Two prongs snaked in from the left and the right. The last slithered across the ground and shot straight up towards the jedi....

Cryax winced when he heard what sounded like a crack of electricity. He couldn't see what was going on behind the crates, but he could hear it, and it didn't sound like Lisa and the other Jedi were going for a walk in the park. Then the masked Jedi stuck a lightsaber in his face, and that jolted him back to his current situation.

Now that Cryax and Nei had two of the Jedi on them, the Chiss didn't see much point in continuing the charade. His blaster dropping to the ground with a clatter, Cryax, still crouching, slowly put his hands up in the air with a sheepish glance to Nei that said "sorry."

He looked the Jedi woman squarely with narrowed red eyes. "You don't wanna waste a trial on scum like us, right? You said you'd let us go, so we'll go." Then he nodded his head towards the flashing lights in the center of the room. "What about them?"

Nei had largely been ignoring the other Jedi and Lisa. Her goal was to try and take down the man and woman in front of them. Of course, that kind of disappeared when Cryax dropped his blaster and surrendered.

Nei ignored his apologetic look, but didn't blame him. The man was built of brains, not brawns; the Nautolan doubted he could hold his own in a fight.

Blasters still raised, she snarled, "We never leave people behind. We be scum but we have codes too!" She slowly backed up as she spoke. After a few steps, she roared, "Hey Jedi! Your mothers be womp rats and your fathers smell of dingleberries!" With that insult, Nei took off behind the crates and headed towards Lisa. Cryax will be fine. He didn't do much aside from make threats.

The moment the Chiss' blaster hit the ground Varus raised his hand and flicked it back towards him just lightly. As he did, the force tugged the weapon across the flood, which slid to him and stopped beneath his foot, which he raised in order to catch the weapon beneath it. When the Chiss posed his question, though, Varus glanced back up, still holding his saber at the ready and wondering if this was all a ploy. That's when he considered just how crafty their opponents might be. He could very well have been standing on an explosive and just didn't know it.

The very next second, Varus kicked the blaster out from beneath him in the opposite direction of their group so that it wouldn't be easy to get to, but made sure he put enough force into the kick so that it would be far enough away from them that if it was an explosive it would have limited effect. That's when Varus finally responded, glancing over his shoulder at the pair across the room that were fighting still and then looking back to the Chiss.

"She's threatening to steal from the Republic and resisting arrest. Had you all stolen the goods or ended up killing a law keeper then things would have been a lot worse, but for now she'll be imprisoned 2 to 6 months depending on the way things go in trial.", he said, not bothering to sugarcoat anything for the pair of Ravens in front of him.

Cryax watched as Nei took off after Lisa, leaving the two Jedi and the Chiss behind the crates. If he got out of here alive he guessed he'd probably get an ass-kicking from both the women for being so craven.

After the masked Jedi kicked his blaster away, the assailant made the mistake of talking about a trial again. Despite the fact that he wasn't talking about Cryax's trial per se, the Chiss still saw red as memories of his time in jail flooding back to him. There was no karking way anyone was going to fething jail. The panicky Chiss decided it was time for plan B.

Cryax reached into his pocket and pulled out two thermal denators, lobbing them both towards the Jedi's ship. He watched them almost in slow motion as they hit the ship and exploded on impact, the deafening blast blowing an enormous hole in both the ship and the docking bay. Cryax hit the deck as the heat and debris from the explosion rocked the place to its core.

Kana turned around in a moment of surprise as the detonators made their way towards Raven. All she could do was watch in terror as a big gaping hole erupted in her ship. The pilot turned towards the chiss. That was her ship, attachments to items be damned she loved that ship and that ship alone. A spark of anger ignited as she closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

“You did not just blow a hole in my ship.” She took yet another step towards the chiss. “You did not just create a big hole in my Raven.”

She pointed the pointy end of her saber at the chiss. Her patience was being put to the test. Materialism or a belief in possession like this was strictly not-allowed but at this point Kana had taken that ship on so many trips that it was hard to not think of it as her own. It was like punching a hole in her baby, yet she was still not snapping just yet.

“It’s okay, Kana. It’s just a ship, relax...” Spoken to herself like any true crazy person. She lifted her focus back to the man in front of her. “You! Leave! Now!

A pilot is nothing without her ship. No, Kana was nothing without her ship. Her stare turned into a glare. This was his last warning or she would have no choice but to live up to her word and take him down.

Corvus could thank the Force for letting her know that even in mid-air, she was to expect a further attack. Using her saber, she thus it in front of her to deal with the Force Lightning. The Padawan was strong but she was a Padawan and sooner or later she would struggle to pull this much power to her.

So Corvus kept on her relentless pursuit of the outlaw - every second brought her closer and closer and soon she'd be in range of her saber.

[member="Corvus Raaf"]

The Jedi woman again deflected her attack and Lisa swore, now truly enraged, and drew her twin Submachine guns. Back pedalling quickly she brought both of them to bear and cracked an evil grin across her determined visage. As she moved she fired, spewing forth a torrent of high velocity slugs.

She could feel the force beginning to slip away as she moved. The will was there but she had not yet mastered her grip on the dark current of energy. As it subsided she began to slow ever so slightly. Still her being was charged with dark energy and her mind was regrouping for another pass, another iron fist to snatch it up and mold it.

The fire pattern closed in from the left and right of her, boxing in her position. The air whistled and the barrels cracked, smoke and flame marking the passing of her projectiles.

Each step took her closer to the Ship....

Cryax slowly got to his feet, his eyes carefully trained on the two lightsaber blades in his face. "Call off your Jedi dogs and then we'll leave," the Chiss growled at the woman and gestured to the other two Jedi. He couldn't bring himself to leave Nei and Lisa no matter how likely it was that they'd leave him.

Out of the corner of his eye he saw Lisa and the other female Jedi battling it out with sabers, force lighting, submachine guns and who knew what else. Then he saw the strange way Lisa was shifting her position. Suddenly he knew exactly what she was up to.

The lanky Chiss quickly sidestepped back and bolted around the two Jedi. One his way, he grabbed Nei by the arm and made a beeline for the ship.

Before Nei could even round the corner, a huge and unexpected explosion nearly made her jump out of her armour. "What the kriff?!" she shouted.

Peeking around the crates, the Nautolan saw that someone had blown up the Jedi's ship. Her scowl deepened as she realized that their job was literally up in smoke. So much for THAT payday...

Any further thoughts she had were interrupted as Cryax came and began to drag her back to their ship. "Hey!" Nei barked, surprised. "Let me go! Where we be going?! What about Lisa?!" Did the Chiss not hear the whole leave no one behind thing? She wasn't just saying that for kicks.

Varus bore his teeth beneath his mask as he braced himself for the explosion behind he and Kana. When the ship displayed a gaping hole in its side, he turned back to the Chiss and the Nautolan with displeased blue eyes, though they were still obstructed by the mask he wore.

The next moment, Varus watched as the Chiss snatched the Nautolan woman by the wrist and made a mad dash for their ship. As they did, Varus barked out loud at them as he disengaged his saber and snapped it back to his belt before he grabbed the but of his blaster rifle and swung it over his shoulder, catching it in both hands and lifting it up as he started walking in their direction. "Your chance to leave just went up in smoke with our ship!", he yelled as he opened fire with the weapon, raining blaster bolts at their backs, not aiming for them particularly, but certainly not bothering to avoid them either.

His true target was beyond Cryax and Nei Laa on their ship. His bolts were aimed at the left wing of their vessel, which they were trying to escape in. Specifically, Varus was unloading on the engine of the left wing of the ship, hopefully disabling it, but he wasn't prepared for the reaction he got.

As they neared the ship, one of the bolts burst through the engine, which immediately exploded. The wing snapped in half as the force of the explosion tipped the ship on it's side for a moment before it fell back upright. The desired effect had been more than had as he watched half of the left wing fall in flames to the docking bay floor, but he only stopped firing for a moment to see his good work done. The next moment, Varus continued walking after Cryax and Nei Laa, unleashing another rain of blaster bolts at their backs as he pursued the grenade happy Chiss and his tentacle haired accomplice.
