"For now it's a secret, but only for now." Jerec looked around the crackling, popping campfire. "And by secret, I mean we might or might not be the only ones who heard that Fledgling Mythrol running his mouth. We'd better get prospecting before our claim gets jumped. Come back here to the fire if you need to warm up, need supplies, need protection." He held up the orange kohlen crystal and gestured at the cold, dark woods around them. "Happy hunting."

A Jedi might value the forgotten crystal for any number of reasons. Kohlen had a mild Force resonance, and could create a less-lethal blade as a lightsaber's focusing crystal. But by far its most valuable property was its ability to power a fully lightsaber-proof energy shield using off-the-shelf components. And sure, a kohlen-powered blade could beat a kohlen-powered shield...but nobody in the galaxy had either one of them. This type of stone was one hundred percent forgotten.

Jerec rubbed the orange kohlen crystal with his thumb and watched firelight refract. This was shaping up to be a good night. Not for the dearly departed Mythrol, granted, but still.

Final Dawn Central Command
Location : Collector (Pellaeon-III Star Destroyer)
Mission : To secure the Source of Kohlen Crystals

Kohlen , the perfect source for the perfect weapon. For years Maracel Yorkell had been searching for a source for a perfect weapon that could allow him to achieve his plans and know he had found one. A few days ago , some of the Directorate’s Agents had caught wind of a long lost crystal one capable of creating an energy shield impervious to lightsabers and capable of powering a lightsaber in which could cut through such a shield. After hearing of this , Maracel eventually ordered to begin an investigation to locate the source of this Crystal intending to find large portions of the crystal and use it to create a mighty weapon. If ordinary Kyber Crystals could be used to power Planet-killing Battlestations Maracel could only imagine the devastating power of a Kohlen Crystal and began searching for it.

Then his agents located the source of the Crystal , the moon of a planet located within Neutral Space called Pijal. Immediately and without hesitation , Maracel contacted Natian Sanorge’s younger brother Nassian Sanorge with a Task Force of 1 Pellaeon-III Star Destroyer , 1 Donnager-Class Star Destroyer , 3 Nebulon-A Frigates , 1 Quasar-Carrier and 5 Dreadnought MkII Heavy Cruisers to the Pijal System to secure the valuable deposit of Kohlen and to make way for a mining operation to be conducted by Yorkell Industries. Maracel then instructed Nassian to have anyone attempting to disrupt the Directorate’s Operations on Pijal’s moon detained or executed in order to keep their operations secret from the Grayson Imperium as the Imperator would not be happy about learning about the existence of a Weapon that could rival Lightsabers and could be instrumental in taking down an entire Jedi order.

Arriving at the Planet on board of the Collector (Pellaeon-III Star Destroyer) , Nassian Sanorge was briefing his Commanders for the Mission. “Okay gentlemen we are perhaps embarking in perhaps one of the most ambitious operations the Directorate has ever launched so let’s make sure we put up a good performance for the Director”. Sanorge began. “Recently , some of our agents have reported about the existence of a crystal similar to a Kyber Crystal but different in microsphic levels. This has led to our Director believing that such Crystal could harbor properties no one has ever seen before and if we can secure such resource we will be able to rival the Jedi and Sith throughout the Galaxy. "

The Operation will be conducted in three phases , the Scouting Phase in which we will locate the source of these Crystals , the Occupation Phase where we secure that source and launch a full scale invasion of the planet to prevent others from finding out and the Development Phase where we begin establishing Mining Facilities and using the local populace to mine the Crystal. I expect all of you to do your job perfectly. Lieutenant Leopold , you will be in charge of Scouting Force for the Scouting Phase , Commander Winston you will be in charge of the Invasion Force for the Occupation Phase once you 2 have completed your missions we shall begin building up the facilities needed for mining the Crystal. You are all dismissed. With that the Military Officers left to conduct their operations as Lieutenant Leopold assembled his scouting force while Commander Winston prepared his Invasion Force , Everything was going as planned , Nassian Thought and there was nothing to stop him or the Directorate for the time being. As he stood on the bridge , Nassian saw the First Shuttles depart his Star Destroyer and make way for the planet in order to prepare the first Phase of Operation Kohlen.

"I'll be happy when we blast off this msqito infested rock."

Cole Merrill slapped away another of the forest moon's indigenous insectoids. A few days ago [member="Jerec Asyr"] and the others had been just another guy in some scummy little undercity bar. Now the lot of them were partners in a mining stake and Cole was beginning to wonder if these so called easy credits were really worth all the hassle. At least he was staying on the move. For a while riding swoops with the Hellions had really felt like home but he was a Merrill. They were all restless souls at heart.

He set out from camp and into a strange alien forest armed with only a vibroknife on his hip but the young Warden was not scared. He was no teräs käsi master and could not call upon the very forces of nature to sweep aside his enemies but he was clever and he was fast and most times that was enough. Cole knew nothing about mining crystals, but had watched Jerec extract their first find carefully. It seemed simple enough.

"This kohlen sounds like a myth," he muttered into his comm link at Jerec, "A forgotten crystal not even the Jedi know about? If he had survived a little longer I'm sure that mythral would have tried to sell you magic beans while he was at it..."

The Pijahl system of the Inner Rim had long since lost its importance in the Galaxy. At one time it was a hub for the slave trade and one day it simply lost its relevance. Now however Sienna and a small Corellian Naval Intelligence team had been dispatched to the planet on rumors of the ever ellusive Kohlen crystal. She grimaced as she cut through yet another large hedge. Flanking her were two Corellian Darksabers and just behind her was another agent.

Though the moon and they system itself was unaligned, if they were to find any hint that the rumors were true they were to collect samples and stake claim to whatever operation was there, whatever means necessary. They would probably have to eliminate any prospectors in order to keep Corellia's name out of the operation as the development of kohlen-based technologies was meant to be secret...And the Diktat didn't know Director Basali was making moves like this.

Which was fine. That happy go-lucky politician didn't need to know everything that made Corellia tick.

"We should camp here for the night." she said without turning back to the other agent. She was his superior after all. She shrugged her pack down and pressed the button on the side. Immediately it began to expand until it formed a serviceable shelter for one.

Kohlen crystals, Clan Mortui had heard of them, but only in rumors and myths. They had heard of a crystal that could make a shield impenetrable to lightsabers, something the clan could greatly use, now that they had been so betrayed. Now they had heard that these kohlen were real, and that they were on this forest moon. So they had decided to get their own share of the kohlen. However, due to the location of the crystals, and the fact that Clan Mortui was focused elsewhere at the moment, only a small team had been sent to find these crystals. Said team was called Eternus squad and consisted of 5 members, all of them of the Chulan species, and lead by Theide himself. Their mission was simple, find the crystals, eliminate any who stood in their way, and retrieve as many as possible. To accomplish their mission, Eternus squad had been issued a modified YT-1930 transport ship, the Aegis Mortum. She was a beauty of a ship, decked out in black with white streaks, mimicking the nature of space when one flies past the stars too quickly. Not only that, but she had been outfitted with a top of the line stealth ship, allowing her to get in anywhere, anytime, a fact that Eternus squad was using now to enter the forest moon's atmosphere.

As the ship came to a hover over the forests, a single black slit was visible to anyone who cared to look at just the right angle. And then it was gone, just as quickly, it would've looked like a black spot in someones eye, but in reality it was a door. A door that Eternus squad had just used to leave the Aegis Mortum and deploy into the trees. Then their ship departed, taking off back into orbit to hide somewhere, its cloak never failing to stay on. They had exited deep in the forest, with scans indicating where people were located. Looking around himself, Theide click-clacked a few times to his fellow hunters and they began to move, their own cloaks on as well. They moved quickly and silently, hopping from branch to branch, or running along them, moving as if in their natural environments. If all went well, they'd be at their destination soon, and then they'd be gone.

Mission : Secure the source of Kohlen

As Lieutenant Leopold’s Scouting Force prepared to land on the surface , Nassian Sanorge was suddenly contacted by the Captain of the Eavesdropper the Donnager-class Star Destroyer escorting the Collector. From what he knew Donnager Star Destroyers were capable of intercepting enemy transmissions and he knew that whatever the Captain of the Eavesdropper wanted to say it would be important. “Sir we’ve picked up a transmission from the Planet.” the Captain said. Interested Sanorge wished to know more about this transmission.”And what about this transmission” Sanorge asked. “Sir according to the man speaking in the transmission , they are aware of the existence of the Kohlen and i think they might be searching for it.

Upon hearing the words , “they are aware” Sanorge knew he was not alone and decided to apprehend that person to locate the source.”Have you pin-pointed the location from where the transmission was sent?.” Sanorge asked. “Yes we traced the transmission to one of the forests and according to our scans near a campfire.” The word “Campfire” once more caught the attention of Sanorge. With that he knew people were well aware of the Kohlen but unlike the the Directorate had better resources such the HAVw A6 Juggernaut in which Lieutenant Leopold’s scouting party was using. “Have Lieutenant Leopold and his forces converge on that position. I want the location of the Kohlen as fast as possible.” Upon hearing Sanorge’s orders , the Captain of the Eavesdropper relayed a message to Lieutenant Leopold who was now on the surface and had deployed his HAVw A6 Juggernaut along with 2 HAVr A9 Floating Fortresses and a bunch of Troop Transports . Upon hearing the message Leopold sent one of his Floating Fortresses and three squads of Directorate Enforcers on board Troop Transports to apprehend these people and locate the Kohlen. Meanwhile Leopold stayed on board of his Juggernaut in order to supervise the Scouting Phase sending scout Troopers on board of speeder bikes to scout the area.

Meanwhile on board of the Collector Natian Sanorge was contacted by the Director of the Directorate , Maracel Yorkell who then informed Sanorge that Directorate Spies had discovered that Corellian Naval Intelligence was also present and that Sanorge would have to apprehend every single Corellian Agent present and even go as far execution if necessary demming the Corellian Naval Intelligence as a threat to the Directorate’s plans on Pijal’s moon. After hearing of Corellian Involvement Sanorge knew this mission would be extremely hard but the Directorate would not give up on it’s objectives and decided to press forward even if the Corellian Naval Intelligence was present.

Jerec and Cole were not the only ones who heard the Fledglings rant. Palru wasn't interested in the value of the crystal, or its power. She was concerned with the history. She wanted to hear its story, feel its energies swirling around it. And taking a small walk along a forest moon to find it was no chore to her. For no matter the animal, the creatures of the forest wouldn't see her as hostile. Their attention and emotion subtly changed through her surgical experience with the Force. She knew she was close due to the crystals resonance. Though it was mild, it was enough of a beacon for her to notice it. She was close. Not enough to yet hear the crackles of the fire, or the breathing of those who had the crystal in their possession. But, close enough to know the crystals resonance was indeed what it seemed. And while Palru was alone, without massive transports of troops like the others among the planet, she had gained the element of stealth and secrecy.

Her ship, meawhile, rested under a canopy within the treeline, overlooking a lake. As if its nose was that of wildlife, sticking out to drink from upon the waters edge.

When she saw the massive military presence, she left. She didn't want to deal with that. She ran back to her ship and lifted off, quickly jumping into hyperspace to escape. She didn't want any part in such a conflict.

"Well...yeah, okay, that's fair. On the plus side, so far we're only out the cost of gas and prospecting scanners. Not sure if anyone owns this land." Jerec slid the kohlen crystal into his pocket and unhooked an omniscanner from his belt. "These little guys can pinpoint a geo signature from ten klicks or better, and what a deal we got on the Ring of Kafrene, am I..."

He trailed off and spun a couple of dials.

"Yeah, I'm reading large, pure metal deposits that weren't there before. Also they're moving toward us. I think we've got less than ten minutes until we've got a lot of company. Fierfek dank jarrin stang dren drek poodoo."

A few prospectors had already gone out. He scrambled for his comlink.

"Folks, we've got inbound, the heavy kind. You've got five minutes to get back to the ship with whatever you've found." He got up from the fire and headed for the freighter that had brought them here. "Merrill, I could use your help with a very, very cursory preflight."

"On it!" Cole answered [member="Jerec Asyr"] between labored breaths.

The mechanic was sprinting back to their campsite as fast as his legs could carry him. Luckily he had not strayed farther than a few hundred meters when Jerec's warning shortly preceded the distant thrum of shuttle engines approaching at high speed. With no supernatural endurance at his disposal the Warden's breath was ragged by the time he stomped up the transport's loading ramp.

Jerec was already in the cockpit when Merill slumped into the co-pilot seat beside him and began to flip switches in a scramble. He kept one eye on the ship's power readings but they were both playing it real fast and loose with basic safety precautions.

"You were saying about that plus side?" his tone was dripping with accusation, "We've got main engine power. Working on secondary systems."

The young man looked into the fire, his blue eyes looking searching for meaning under his buy'ce. The blood on his hands was the first he had shed, and the thrill of killing still coursed through his veins. He had gone on ahead to the nearest settlement as soon as they had put boots to soil. Sneaking in under the cover of darkness he had liberated a few smaller crystals from the mining community near by but at a cost. One of the former owners had discovered him as he was leaving their storehouse and Styr was forced to silence him before disposing of the body.

"Feth, just when things were getting interesting."

As he spoke the rush of death he had felt seemed blunted by the heaviness in his heart. His words were false bravado. The taking of sentient life and the matter of how his first victim had met their end had been a very person and intimate experience.

“It was not like I had though, train mostly against droids and they don't bleed. The light of their soul doesn’t fade from them as your blade drinks of their blood. As their body turns cold your mind doesn’t turn to wonder if this man that lays still at your feet had a family. One that will never know who they need to seek vengeance on.”

With a cloth still in his hand he wiped the remaining visual signs of deed away before throwing the rag into the campfire before him. Styr then reached into his back pocket and pulled out a small drawstring bag. Opening it he shook out the small orange crystals and chips into his hand. Taking the largest from the group he put the rest back into the bag before placing the bag back away too.

“By the code here is your cut, a fifth of what I find for bring me along right Jerec? I’m not a greedy person so let's cut and run."

"Yeah, yeah, gimme that and buckle up."

He stuffed the crystals away as he ran through internal cameras and external sensors. With maybe ninety seconds to spare, all the prospectors were back aboard the Colichemarde. The cramped, needle-shaped escape ship rose up past the tree canopy. Not far away, a wake of disturbed and broken trees revealed the position of the oncoming armored vehicles. Jerec spun the ship and gunned it in the opposite direction. Acceleration slammed him back in his seat. The freighter clawed for space.

Where there appeared to be an entire Imperial fleet.

Space was a big place but that fleet was a big fleet. Jerec aimed his ship for clear skies and readied countermeasures. The Colichemarde had all sorts of exotic getaway options. Exotic and expensive. He prayed to the Bendu that he wouldn't need to use them.

Sir we have spotted a fighter leaving the planet. Orders?” These fools , Nassian thought attempting to escape the planet , Sanorge knew that these were exactly the same people Lieutenant Leopold’s troops were after. The Forces Leopold’s had sent had come upon a Freighter that took off before they could open fire and Sanorge knew that they could not escape his grasp. “Deploy all Tie Phantoms and disable that ship. These prospectors have no chance against our Phantoms. Meanwhile prepare the Tractor beams.”

With that order a Squadron of 7 Tie Phantoms exited the Hanger Bay and moved towards the enemy Freighter. The Tie Phantoms having their own Cloaking devices and advanced deflector shields would be extremely hard to take down and that Freighter would soon be disabled and onboard his Star Destroyer. “Have all Dreadnoughts converge on the position of that Freighter and block it’s escape route. Nothing shall escape the grasp of the Directorate.” With that order the Dreadnought MkII Heavy Cruisers moved towards the position of the enemy Freighter and prepared to open fire. Sanorge would not allow these Prospectors to escape the Directorate.

Meanwhile on the Moon , some of Lieutenant Leopold’s scouts were scouting the area when a group of 2 scouts spotted smoke from a second campfire. After dismounting from their Speeder bikes and approaching the area of the Campfire they could make out 5 people through their electrobinoculars. The Scouts then contacted Lieutenant Leopold through their comm links alerting Lieutenant Leopold of the presence of the Corellians and telling him of their location. After reporting to Leopold , the Scouts returned to their Speeder Bikes and withdrew back further to observe the Corellians from a farther position.

Theide and Eternus squad moved along the trees, drawing ever closer to the campsite, when they suddenly heard rumbling. Pausing in their movement and taking defensive positions, Theide demanded a sitrep from the ship, and what he saw made his blood run colder than it already did. Someone had come to this planet in force, a large force, more than Eternus squad could deal with on their own. Cursing quietly to himself, Theide ordered his squad to double their time, they'd have to get these crystals quickly before leaving. With a loud clack to them, Theide jumped forward and onto the next branch, moving twice as quickly as before, still cloaked, but not being as careful.

Eternus squad moved quickly, and soon enough they were nearing the last known location of the prospectors. Theide saw the ship take off then, no doubt having also learned about this military presence that was coming. Shaking his head as they fled, Theide ordered his squad to remain in position as he entered the camp. Jumping down quietly, cloak on the entire time, Theide made his way towards the now abandoned camp site, searching around for anything of note. The prospectors had left in a hurry, so there were still things scattered around, but nothing of true value, they had been smart enough there, and most definitely no crystals, a shame really. Shaking his head slightly, Theide instead grabbed an abandoned mining tool and tucked it away into a small bag at his back, then he turned and returned to the forest.

Giving his men another order, they split into two groups, one of three and one of two. The group of two went into the tunnels to get some crystals, while the group of three, led by Theide, went towards the military presence. Theide wanted to learn who it was they were facing, and why exactly these fools came in such presence. Then he'd determine if they were worth using Clan Mortui resources on, IE: blow them out of the water and slaughter them all, or leave them alone and perhaps work with them. So, as one, the squad split ways and moved towards their objective, going fast and quiet, as stealthily as possible while remaining very mobile. They'd reach the nearest juggernaught soon enough, then it'd just be a matter of seeing who was where.

Location: Aboard the Colichemarde
Objective: Survival

Feth this skinny ship is quick Styr though as he watched the planet drop from view. As they reached orbit the young warrior unbuckled and moved over to the defence systems. He knew from his observations of Jerec ship that the weapons were minimal at best so he had decided trying to bulster and balance the shields while keeping an eye on the sensors.

"Something launched from the destroyer but they cloaked before I could get a reading. Fething fancy kit for an imperial patrol. How long before we can jump Jerec?"

Styr shunted weapons power to shields in preparations for the inevable attack, figuring with no targets lock in on the power would be better spent keeping them alive and in one piece.

As the Freighter moved closer towards the ship , the Tie Phantom’s entered in range of the Freighter but then before they could attack Nassian gave the order to stand down. Instead he ordered the Tractor beams to capture the ship as we wished to avoid a long dogfight in which would waste his time. “Target locked sir , we are pulling the ship towards our Hanger.” one of Nassian’s officers said. “Good” Nassian replied. “Have a Squad of Enforcers ready to board the ship once it lands and seize it’s cargo. I want those prospectors alive.” Nassian said.

With that order the Freighter began to slowly be pulled towards the Pellaeon-III Star Destroyer with the Tie Phantom Squadron deployed began circling around it as they were still cloaked ready to attack the ship if it ever attempted to escape the grasp of the Collector. Meanwhile on the bridge , Nassian Sanorge decided to contact the prospectors to inform them that they where in his captivity.”Attention unidentified freighter. Your ship has been locked on by our Tractor beams. There is no escape. Surrender now and hand over the Kohlen peacefully and we shall have mercy on you. You have until your ship lands on the Hanger of my Star Destroyer to respond.

Nassian Sanorge knew that these men would be dumb enough to resist after all , he knew about these types of situation. The Officer would capture a freighter and then somehow the crew of the freighter would escape , Sanorge knew exactly what to expect that was prepared for whatever sunt these prospectors were about to make. As ordered by Maracel he would have to terminate them if necessary but he thought that they would make far more valuable prisoners and great recruits for the Directorate once they had been “Re-educated”

"Something launched from the destroyer but they cloaked before I could get a reading," [member="Styr Armod"] reported from his position monitoring their tactical systems.

"You can't see them?" he asked, wincing as a clearly visible TIE model screamed into view. Sometimes it was easy to forget that not everyone's brain was like a living crystal gravfield trap.

There was a sudden jolt throughout the freighter which Cole knew could only be a tractor beam. He and [member="Jerec Asyr"] shared a look that spoke volumes. The young mechanic let out a frustrated sigh and cracked his knuckles loudly. Working out the kinks in his neck, he braced himself for the disorientating sensation that always accompanied his attempts to interface with the Machine. He couldn't swing a lightsaber or leap tall buildings in a single bound, but if there was one gift the Force had blessed him with it was his ability to manipulate technology.

"Time to go to work," Merrill said, as much as to himself as his pilot, "When I tell you to, turn and burn."

Cole placed his hand on the co-pilot's control console and closed his eyes. His physical surroundings fell away, and suddenly it felt as if he was speeding through the Colichemarde's power distribution system like conscious energy. He could feel the ship's systems, the primaries and the backups. His mind touched upon the sensors and it was as if he was seeing with the ship's eyes. A constricting energy field enveloped him and he knew it must be the star destroyer's tractor beam. He followed the field back to its source like a virus and began to infect the Imperial tractor's targeting sensors ([member="The Legend 27"]).

Like a magician, he used his gifts with tech sorcery to make their freighter disappear.

"Now!"

As he looked upon that Ship that was slowly being drawn in towards the Collector something happened to the tractor beam. “Sir something is interfering with our tractor beam targeting sensors”. One of the Lieutenants said. “Ah yes a Shroud device , used to confuse and displace the lock of our tractor beams. Have our Heavy Cruisers moved into position?.” “Yes sir, they are ready to fire on the freighter on your command”. Then the Collector lost it’s grip on the Freighter as it was able to get loose from the tractor beams of the Star Destroyer

Have all Tie Phantom’s uncloak and open fire on the freighter and have the Heavy Cruiser’s fire their concussion missiles. I want that Freighter disabled so that we can pick them up ourselves.” Through that order the Tie Phantom’s decloak and began their first attack run followed by the Heavy Cruisers whom began firing their concussion missiles one Cruiser at a time as a means to continuously pummel the enemy freighter until it gave up. A shame , Nassian thought. He had offered the prospector’s within the freighter to surrender and now they fought back and had to pay the price for their arrogance. If they would resist one last time he would order his own ship to open fire to destroy the freighter as Nassian did not wish to waste his time on a small irrelevant Freighter.

Right on cue, that starfighter that left before came flying back, firing at the Collector. It was fast. Surprisingly fast. The ship would use its front two guns to fire at the bridge of the Collector, attempting to distract it, before flying over the bridge and to the back of the behemoth. It reality the woman didn't really leave. She just jumped outside of the atmosphere. When she was what was going on, she decided to lend a hand.

Startorn sat at his campsite fingering the crystal in his hand, it looked like a kyber crystal but a little different, probably just a weird one, he pocketed the crystal and packed up his stuff to get going, he had been chasing a bounty where it led him here, but his bounty left just a little while ago so he wasn't in the best mood, he looked up and saw lights in the sky, that's weird, he pulled out his scope and looked up and saw a fleet of some sort doing something, his scope wasn't made to look that far so he could only guess, he shrugged and began his trip back to his ship.
