Name: Kaija
Designation: Sentient
Homeworld: Kubindi
Language: Consists mostly of untranslatable roars.
Average height of adults:
Males: 3 metres
Females: 2.5 metres
Skin color: Dark Black
Hair color: No Hair
Breathes: Type 1

Strengths: [2 minimum]
-Durability: The Kaija is able to sustain extreme damage from nearly all types of weapons, this is mostly due to the unique cell structure the species posses. The substance that features in the species cells is named FR-1 (FAST REGENERATIVE 1) and allows injuries the Kaija has taken to regenerate much quicker than other creatures of similar size. Light injuries, such as burns and scratches can almost completely heal in a matter of minutes. Though damage from heavier weapons, like blasters may take up to 6 hours to fully heal. In some cases, a Kaija could regenerate a whole limb or organ if necessary, however this would take up to 1-2 months.
-Resistant to Radiation: With the home world of the Kaija being Kubindi, the species has become exceedingly resistant to most forms of radiation, particularly gamma radiation. This allows the Kaija to explore and live in places that other creatures would find poisonous and toxic, without the aid of viable
protection.
-Natural Exoskeleton: The natural exoskeleton the Kaija posses is one of the species main defence against all types of damage. It has been said that the exoskeleton itself is "As hard as steel." Though this is untrue, it has been noted that most kinetic based weapons will have a tough time penetrating the exoskeleton, and would be unlikely to hit or damage any important organs.
-Strength and Size: With the males standing at 3 metres tall, and weighing over 3000Kg, the Kaija pack a punch. Without the aid of any machine, a single Kaija can easily lift over it's own body weight. Though it has never been tested, it is believe that a male Kaija could lift just under 5000Kg. The only reason the Kaija can lift this weight is due to the exoskeleton supporting the muscles in all limbs and the upper torso. But even with the it's exoskeleton, sustaining a lift of anything 5000Kg or more makes the chances for a muscle tear extremely high.
-Enhanced Hearing and Smell: Since the Kaija species is partially blind, it relies on other senses. In this case, smell and hearing. These enhanced senses offer many perks to everyday and combat situations. The Kaija have been known to use an unfamiliar fighting style which is reinforced by the improved senses of smell and hearing. This also allows for the Kaija to work well in darkness, being either combative or non-combative.

Weaknesses: [2 minimum]
-Size and Speed: With male Kaija weighing over 3000Kg they will never be moving anywhere very quickly. Though they can run forwards at high speeds due to their long legs and strong muscles, the Kaija have difficulty turning from side to side. The reason for this difficulty is because of the creature bulky torso. Most smaller and faster animals will be able to outmanoeuvre a Kaija, making this one of the species greatness weaknesses.
-Unintelligent: Since the Kaija's main objective is to survive, it will attack anyone or anything that may pose as a threat. Male Kaija have been known to fight to the death against much larger creature and consequently, end up dead. During combat, Kaija often go into a mindless berserk where all tactics are forgotten and the creatures only aim is to kill. This allows for enemies to easily outsmart and defeat the creature.
-FR-1: The unique substance that is featured in the Kaija's cells (FR-1) has never been seen before and is believed to only exist in the Kaija. Doctors were able to create medicine from the FR-1 that was extremely effective at healing nearly all injuries, but this was created at the cost of the Kaija's life. There was a high demand for this medicine, and therefore a high demand for Kaija. The species has and will always be hunted in hope of more of the FR-1 Medicine.
-Partially Blind: It's unknown why the the Kaija are partially blind, though it is believed to be because a faulty gene that has stayed dominant throughout the species history. Being partially blind greatly effects the Kaija's fighting and movements in combat situations. However being blind has granted the species with enhanced hearing and an enhanced sense of smell.
Endangered: Throughout the Kaija's history the species has been classed as endangered. With a population of only 150,000 in it's bulk, there was always a chance that the species would become extinct all together. The chance of this increased dramatically when the hunting began, and there is little hope for this species to survive in the wild.

Distinctions:

Average Lifespan: 350 Year

Estimated Population: Believed to be extinct

Diet: Carnivore. Will eat all meats.

Technology level:
The Kaija civilisation is exceptionally primitive and has yet to discover the use of tools and weaponry. The species mostly relies on their brains and natural weapons to survive. Some Kaija may use an object as a weapon during combat, but they have yet to craft any tool specialised in a certain areas of work.

General behavior:
The Kaija are a very violent, species. They will attack, and aim to kill any creature that may pose as a threat. Being a very territorial species, the Kaija will often attack any animal that has entered it's territory, this includes other Kaija.

In combat Kaija always go on the offensive, unless injured, then they will go for a more defensive approach. During combat, the Kaija fight with the idea of 'kill or be killed' meaning they will almost always finish their opponent, and therefore protecting itself from potential future attacks.

Culture
The Kaija almost always live in groups named 'Packs'. These packs are Male dominated and the leader consists of one Alpha Male. The Alpha Male is chosen through combat, when a Alpha Kaija and a non-alpha male Kaija meet the two will fight. If the non-alpha wins the fight, it will become leader of the pack, however if the Alpha male wins, they will stay pack leader. Since the Kaija fight to the death, the loser will almost always die and if not, banished into the wild alone, where it is not expected to last long.

During the daytime all the male Kaija, excluding the Alpha, will leave the rest of the pack to hunt for food. Aiming to find enough food to fill the whole pack, these hunting sessions may take up to 8 hours. While the others hunt for food, the Alpha Male protects the females and young from any predators who may attack, and other Kaija hoping to compete to be the pack leader.

Another role of the Alpha Male Kaija is breeding. The Alpha is the only Kaija in the pack who is allowed to impregnate the females. Any other Kaija that do this will be attacked by the other the members of the pack, probably ending up dead. Breeding this way can cause many problems, for instance, any weaknesses and defects that belong to the Alpha will be passed down to the later generations.

Since it is believed that the Kaija species has only just developed sentience, they have not formed any religions or beliefs.

History:
Little is known of the Kaija's history. However it is believed that they are a fairly new species that has only just gained sentience.

With the Kaija's home world being Kubindi, the species was unidentified for a long period of time. This allowed the population of Kaija to boom, and at it's bulk the species reach a maximum population of 150,000.

Unfortunately, when the planet, Kubindi, was enveloped by the Hutt Empire, the Kubaz were made aware of the Kaija's presence. Being thought of as pests and wild animals, the Kaija were to be killed on sight, therefore avoiding any damage or injuries. The bodies of the Kaija that were killed were usually dumped into the forests of Kubindi, until the discovery of a substance in the species cells. FR-1.

The healing abilities of FR-1 were shortly found out after it's discovery, and a race was on to make a 'miracle medicine' from it.

Eventually scientists were able to construct the FR-1 Medicine. The Medicines initial success was down to the fact that it could cure almost any injury, and sometimes even cause a limb to grow back. This caused the medicine to be bought by wealthy people across the galaxy, for top prices as well. Soon enough, word had got out about this medicine, almost the whole galaxy was in need of it. So it was made clear, more would have to be produced.

Until scientists could clone / duplicate the FR-1, the only supply was the Kaija. With hunters and mercenaries coming from every corner of the galaxy just to get themselves some of the riches that followed the selling of the Kaija. It wasn't expected the population of the species to last long.

As predicted, the entire population was almost wiped out after only 20 years of hunting, and the Kaija were marked as extinct. With the Kaija being gone, the FR-1 medicine also disappeared, this was due to how the scientists couldn't find a way to artificially produce the FR-1, without use of a Kaija's cell. Though it was possible some may have survived by hiding in the forests of Kubindi, the likelihood of the population reaching high numbers is very slim.

It was noted that in the final days of the Kaija, a small pack of the species were bought and shipped away by a rare and dangerous animal collector. But the whereabouts and status of these remaining Kaija is currently unknown.

Intent: To create a unique, new species that will be used as a playable character.

FR-1 Medicine Tech submission: http://starwarsrp.net/topic/35609-fr-1-regenerative-miracle-medicine/#entry506817

Right, this looks really good./... A feww things.

1.) A week to regrow a lung or an arm? I'm going to need that to be a bit longer. Taking a week to regrow a finger or something is fine, but an arm? The transdoshans take a month or two, and Hutts take twice that.

2.) If the FR-1 can be used on other species, it'll need a tech sub

This looks like a fun species. I look forward to seeing it approved. :D

No, with the 'extinction' of the Kaija, the medicine couldn't get made again. I'll write that down.

[member="Iris Tyrad"] - It could though if anyone found a group of these, or one of thes,e or for that matter found your upcoming character.

I don't want someone to either capture you, or either do a thread of fidning these guys and making the super-medicine.

It will either need a tech sub, or will need to be removed. Sorry. :l

I made the tech thread and actually nerfed the medicine so the only "super" bit about it is that it can regenerate organs and such.

Alright, only two things left to do and you're approvable.

1.) tag me when teh tech sub is complete

2.) ...Your species can lift 6 tons? ... So they can bench press speeders as if they were made of cardboard? That's going to need to be toned down... I would use the descriptions 'in their prime', and 'in special conditions', and 'prone ot muscle tears', too... but that's optional, just a suggestion...

After that, you're good to go! :D

Added a link to the approved FR-1 Medicine. Also decreased the weight it could lift and added that the likelihood of muscle tear increases dramatically when lifting over 5000Kg.

[member="Iris Tyrad"] - Since the species weighs over three (short) tons, lifting five (short) tons isin't that extreme. It's like a bodybuilder lifting 600 pounds or so, which would be possible if they had an exoskeleton like that.
Keep in mind that though you are extremely strong, lifting your maximum weight will tire you out just like in real life.

[member="Thurion Heavenshield"], thank you for your kindness. :p

Species is not exactly an area I am comfortable with, but let's see... I have a feeling like the species is a bit overpowered. Even all the weaknesses you have mentioned and the species being near extinct, the feeling doesn't go. But logically thinking this species should be ready for approval. "Abuse and suffer," as they say.

Approved.
