OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: The Hawk's Nest
  • Classification: Military Base, Temple
  • Location: Cin'ciri Mountain Range, Kestri
  • Affiliation: Clan Galaar
  • Accessibility: While located within the frigid mountains of Kestri, Clan Galaar does not make their presence on the world a secret, and The Hawk's Nest is located about equidistantly between Tor Valum and the Temple of Javarr. The Nest is open to fellow Mandalorians visitors, but like any good Mandalorian home it is well-protected.
  • Description: [ Provide a description of this structure at a glance. More in-depth descriptions can be added in points of interest. ]
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Courtyard: The Courtyard is...well, a courtyard, outside the main structure of the Hawk's Nest, where many members of the Clan and guests from outside the Clan gather. Training of the foundlings and new recruits often occurs in the courtyard, and is usually home to tents and stalls set up by clan civilians and hunters returning from the wilds with fresh kills.
  • The Farms: Located a stone's throw away from the courtyard is the Farms. As much of Clan Galaar are Valkyri who had lived on Midvinter, they are no strangers to trying to grow crops in freezing, frigid temperatures. In addition to run-of-the-mill crops, the Farms are also where the necessary grains and other ingredients required to make mead and other alcoholic beverages are grown.
  • The Rookery: The Rookery is where the living members of Clan Galaar rest. It is a large room, lined with cots and beds of all sizes, and it is one of the most empty rooms during the day. Clan Galaar Mandalorians hate being idle, and as such are typically found in the forges or the courtyard rather than the bedrooms.
  • The Stables: The Stables are where Clan Galaar keeps its vehicles, both air and land, as well as its basilisk war droids. The vehicles are constantly being refitted, upgraded, or repaired, always kept in tip-top shape.
  • Forges: The Forges of The Hawk's Nest are some of the most commonly populated rooms in the fort. Constantly filled with the cacophony of hammers as smiths both young and old, experienced and fresh-faced alike ply their trades, the ringing and striking of hammers creates a music most sweet to the ears of a people who hold the craft in high regard. The cryo-furnaces of Clan Galaar rarely rest: someone always needs a new blade or breastplate, after all.

  • The Armory: Located near the Forges, for obvious reasons, is the Armory which contains all of the weapons, armor, and technology of Clan Galaar not currently in use. Besides the Forges, Galaar smiths can also often be found in the Armory, ensuring the items contained within are being maintained well so they may be used at a moment's notice.
  • The Grand Feast Hall: Located in the heart of the Hawk's Nest, the Grand Feast Hall is an enormous room capable of containing the entire Clan and then some, and is where the Clan's members eat when they don't need to do so at their work stations. As the name implies, the Hall is also used to host glorious feasts honoring the Clan's victories or showing hospitality to other visiting clans. A seat at table where Jiriad sits, close by the Jarl's side, remains empty; it is reserved for Jiriad's old friend Jor Kvall, in the hopes that Jor will one day join Clan Galaar on Kestri. Several large tables span the length of the room, and like many rooms in the Nest is lit by flaming braziers and chandeliers. Attached to the Feast Hall is a large kitchen where the Hall's food is prepared.
  • The Stills: Near the Feast Hall is the Stills where a variety of alcoholic beverages are brewed, both Mandalorian and Valkyri in nature, and some of the Clan's own creation combining the two such as Galaar Spicebrew. The importance of this room cannot be understated, as strong drink and good food go a long way to forming friendships with Clan Galaar.
  • Shrines: Located nearby the Rookery is a large room, lit with flaming braziers, containing shrines to each of the figures that make up the Children of the Allfather, the religion of the Valkyri people. Each shrine has a bowl for offerings, often replete with jewelry, foodstuffs, and beast pelts given in the hopes of receiving the blessings of the respective gods. Many of the clan's Seiðr can often be found here, tending to the shrines and bestowing blessings upon warriors.
  • The Sacred Grove: Within the heart of the Hawk's Nest lies a garden tended to by the Seiðr, and at the center of the garden lies an enormous uneti tree. Many Seiðr wield staves made from the tree's wood, carving runes of various meanings into them. There are also a number of cassius trees in the grove, whose florets are utilized to make rejuvenating tea.
  • Medical Bay: While most of the Hawk's Nest is constructed in old-fashioned styles, the Medical Bay is perhaps the most modern-looking area in the place. As is to be expected it is clean, well-maintained, and well-stocked with bacta tanks and other medical necessities. On a happier note, it is also where many births happen, to ensure the health and safety of the newborn.
  • Crypts: The Crypts house the remains of fallen warriors of Clan Galaar or, when no body is available for internment, a weapon or other notable possession of the clan member. When a member of Clan Galaar passes away, their are laid to rest within the Crypts, each casket etched with Runian scripts detailing the lives and accomplishments of the occupant. The caskets are watched over by stone dire wolves, like those back home on Midvinter, as well as statues in the image of great Galaar warriors of times long passed, back when they were still the Snjóhaukur clan. Seiðr may also be found here, performing funerals or tending to the caskets. It is a place of solemn mourning, and to damage anything within would invite the wrath of the entire Clan.

SECURITY
[ Provide a Security Rating (choose from: None, Low, Medium, High, Maximum) and any specific security assets in list format. What defenses does this location have, including internal and perimeter defenses? Please note that the rating is relative to the type of location this is. Normal civilian structures have a different scope in security, compared to military bases. As such a civilian structure with a Maximum security rating is not on the same level as a military base with a Maximum rating. A civilian structure with a Maximum rating could be the seat of a planetary government, or the headquarters of an inter-galactic corporation. Private security, alarms, perhaps even a defensive shield, but they should not have entire armies within or enough armament to destroy a fleet above. Please link rare or uncommon tech/equipment to the SW wiki article or Factory-approved submission. Common canon items do not need to be linked. ] High

  • Point-defense cannons
  • Turbolasers
  • Fighter squadrons
  • All the Mandalorian warriors that call it home
  • The fort's construction into the mountain provides extra protection

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Hawk's Nest is the new home of Clan Galaar after settling down on the Enclave's capital Kestri. Previously Clan Galaar resided on Krownest in a fort known as Fort Cinciri'galaar, but when Jiriad Galaar made the decision to ally his clan with The Enclave they had no choice but to abandon their base on Krownest for a new perch. Clan Galaar relocated to the Cin'ciri Mountain Range, where they feel right at home in the world's frigid climate. Located about equal distances from Tor Valum and the Temple of Javarr, the Hawk's Nest is always busting with activity. Much of the architecture of the Nest is built in the style of the Valkyri people, albeit with Mandalorian influence, and large stone and duracrete structures jut out from the mountains, which large parts of the Nest are built into.

The Nest extends much beyond what can be seen from the exterior and most areas of the fort are only accessible from the inside, with the courtyard and the Nest's hangar, the Stables, being the two obvious exceptions.
