OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: Create a cool and fun friend for all! To troll John Locke John Locke
  • Role: To be an interesting and mysterious being to contact. A potential ally or foe.
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: Tygara,
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Age: At least several hundred years old, but possibly more!
  • Force Sensitivity: Untrained Force Sensitive.
  • Species: Partuz.
  • Appearance: The Great Mother is a Partuz, but she is a uniquely ancient, large, powerful and intelligent one. Whereas the largest queens will usually reach a leg span of five metres and a body length of two metres, the Great Mother is more than double this size. Her body from abdomen to head is nearly five metres long and her legs stretch out a horrifying twelve metres at full stretch. She is of a more orange colour than her children.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Name: The Great Mother, The Queen of Queens, the Ancient One, the Mistress of the Web. Or simply 'Mother'.
  • Loyalties: Herself, her children.
  • Wealth: N/A. The Great Mother does not really understand why two-legs use pieces of metal to give to each other. The only currency she understands is food, power and strength.
  • Notable Possessions: A vast cave system on the Isle of Beasts (location sub TBA).
  • Skills: Telepathic communication with all Partuz on the Isle of Beasts. She can also 'see' through their senses if she focuses her will upon them. Unique among the Partuz she is both sentient and able to understand and communicate complicated concepts to other creatures.
  • Languages: Pheromones and telepathic communication with her children. She is now intelligent enough to communicate telepathically with other sentients too.
  • Personality: As the most intelligent, strongest and biggest of her kind, the Great Mother is naturally confident in her power. This, mixed with her natural curiosity means she is always willing to converse with any visiting intelligent creatures to learn about them. Having been raised up as the wisest of her kind, she seeks to learn more about the world around her.

The Great Mother is not especially cruel, but she is cunning, and very protective of her children. Any threat to herself or her children will be met decisively. If any visiting biped is stupid enough to hurt one of the other Partuz queens, the Great Mother shows no mercy, and can be vicious beyond what a normal animal might be to make an example.

The Great Mother is intelligent, but does not understand bipeds. She is both fascinated and uncertain of them. Many basic understandings they have such as technology, trade, currency, the Force as a concept and more are completely alien to her. She is patient, but if she feels she is being deceived she might become agitated and demand explanations.
COMBAT INFORMATION
  • Weapon of Choice: Enormous strength, claws, poison bite and an army of human sized spiders.
  • Combat Function: If someone is foolish enough to attack the lair of the Great Mother she will unleash her countless children. However, she is cunning enough not to send them in death charges right at an enemy. Instead, many of the more stealthy drones will be sent to ambush and web enemies unseen.
If necessity dictates, she will emerge to attack directly. She is a Partuz, but one of extraordinary size, so her attacks and web are many times more formidable than her children.
  • Force Abilities (Force Users Only): Telepathy, sense, animal control, ability similar to Force Listening, life sense, truth sense.
Strengths:
  • The Great Mother. This Partuz is a massive creature and despite her age is unbelievably strong, agile and cunning. She is strong enough to flick grown humans aside with her legs, inject fatal poison or web a speeder at fifty metres. There are few creatures which can match her raw power if she is roused.
  • The Web of All. Through an innate skill in the Force, the Great Mother communes with her children, usually the lesser queens, but with an effort of will she can focus her commands upon any Partuz on the Isle of Beasts. This means any foe has to face not just her but literally thousands of human sized spiders.
  • Wisdom of the Queen. Unique of her kind, the Great Mother has achieved sentience, she can intelligently communicate, reason and converse with other beings. Though hardly a genius intellect she is far wiser than any regular animal and is exceptional at piercing deceits.
  • Home Ground Advantage. The Isle of Beasts is the Great Mother's home, and through her children she knows every inch of it. Any visitor or invader is soon spotted and reported. She can then decide what to do with them….
Weaknesses:
  • Weapons of War. Though a massive creature resistant to conventional weapons, the Great Mother can still be hurt. Lightsabres, modern blasters, explosives and more can slay her. She is also still afraid of fire like her children.
  • Blind to Mysteries. The Great Mother's use of the Force is instinctive and natural. She has no command over greater mysteries of it like the Light and Dark. She also has no ability to use many of the standard Force abilities. Sadly this means the spider queen does not use Force Lightning.
  • Fundamental Assumptions. Intelligence fostered from a creature in isolation by the Force skips many steps on the path to knowledge. How other intelligent beings operate, how technology, trade and the span of the world outside her realm are utterly unknown to her.
  • Suspicion and Distrust. The Force tells the Great Mother of many things. She can feel dimly her distant children in Yarkul or beyond, can feel their distress or pain, and it worries her. As more of the two-legs arrive she fears for herself and her children, not knowing whether they can be trusted. This makes her cautious and suspicious despite her curiosity.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Partuz on the world of Tygara are a strange species. A hive-mind spider race based around the queen of each nest guiding her children. One must ask then…is there a single progenitor or 'Queen of Queens'? For many years the Vash did not know the answer to this, though the Paragon Tylania suspected that those living close to the Dark Heart were more intelligent as they grew up close to the nexus of Force energy.

It was only a relatively short time ago that Tylania heard legends of a remote island north-west of Yarkul inhabited by beasts of vast size and especially of many Partuz that she undertook to visit it. As this was before the galaxy people had come to settle upon Tygara, the Vash was forced to cross the storm-tossed sea with the aid of Qadiri explorers to eventually arrive at the Isle of Beasts. The legends the Qadiri told were of monsters and that none who had ventured there had survived.

When Tylania arrived, she found the island was large, over 10,000 square kilometres, and smaller islands of volcanic origin formed an archipelago. On this remote island she found indeed animals of larger size than anywhere else of Tygara, as well as plants nourished by a background Force energy coming from the central volcano. Journeying there, she knew she was observed, and that Partuz would appear to lead her along the way, even giving her gifts. Finally, Tylania reached the extinct volcano at the heart and found the Great Mother within. The two were equally as surprised by the other when they found they could converse.

From what Tylania could find, the Great Mother began life as a regular Partuz queen. Time was not something the Great Mother could easily get the concept of, but many generations before for her, and Tylania estimated it was at least a hundred years, but likely far more. The Great Mother was driven away when two queens were hatched from a clutch. She stumbled into the volcano's heart and found a power in there she could not describe. Tylania surmised it was a Force nexus, and that it was both responsible for the great size of the organisms on the island but also for the Great Mother's intelligence.

When the Great Mother emerged many years later, she was changed, bigger, more intelligent and connected to her children. When she emerged, she bent her will upon the queens of the isle and soon they came before her. There, the Great Mother directed them, taking control and combining their strengths.

Tylania told the Great Mother that she would keep the secret of her island, but that other people might come, and to be wary. They parted, perhaps the Great Mother seeing in Tylania the role she carried in herself.

After this time more people have come to the Isle of Beasts. Some came to study it, some to exploit it, and those with ill-will often found themselves warned away. If they did not heed the warning…the Isle of Beasts has manifold dangers. The island, and those in its chain, are listed as restricted, though some ignore these warnings still, and many do not return.
