Celestine Veyra's eventual answer was three kilometers long.

Designed as the permanent headquarters of Veyra Haute Couture, the vessel now commonly known as the The Grand Atelier is less a conventional corporate starship than a mobile luxury district. Corporate headquarters, shopping center, exhibition complex, fashion school, design campus, residential community, hotel district and logistical hub all exist within the same hull. While capable of interstellar travel independently, the vessel normally remains in stable orbit over important commercial worlds for extended periods before relocating for major shows, trade events or business opportunities.

Following Celestine's return to Kuat, the vessel established its principal anchorage in Kuat's orbit, where its extravagant silhouette deliberately contrasts with the industrial shipyards for which the world is famous.

THE GRAND GALLERIA

CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS

RESIDENTIAL POPULATION

The Grand Atelier is home as well as workplace.

Approximately 20,000 designers, artisans, executives, hospitality workers, technicians, security personnel and their families can reside aboard permanently. Normal operating crew numbers approximately 8,000.

Visitor capacity varies according to configuration, but approximately 40,000 additional shoppers, tourists, clients and hotel guests can be comfortably accommodated during routine operation. Major events can temporarily push the ship's total population significantly higher.
