The Galactic Premiere of Dead Fantasy 2

Druckenwell. Two weeks after principal photography for Dead Fantasy 2: Wookiee Zombies of the Galactic Republic was completed. The invasion was a disaster for the Republic, but Jessica did a climactic last stand for the Republic on the beach alongside Wookiee zombies. Due to the extent historical records were used, the big names in the galactic holovid actor rosters were noticeably absent; during pickup photography, however, extras were used, and pickup photography ended up representing the bulk of the cost for the production of DF2. DF1, in contrast, cost nearly 10 times the cost of DF2, but DF1 was still being shown in holotheaters across the galaxy. The profits of DF2 would be split as follows: 10% each to Jessica, Arisa, Funky, Draco, Rekali the Hutt and Ra, 10% each to the Mandalorian Clans and the Republic and the remaining 20% in the hands of Taking Off on a Star Tour. And also due to factional concerns, Taking Off on a Star Tour would have to be premiered in a neutral location. Luckily Star Tours purchased the aging megaplex that once was the pride of the planet. But DF2 was a little special because little marketing was made before principal photography was over, and the process of making a film is usually a lot longer than two short weeks. Star Tours, the main investor in the Dead Fantasy series, was already planning the premiere as soon as the principal photography was over.

"Welcome to the galactic premiere of Dead Fantasy 2, hosted by Star Tours' CEO, Dunames Lopez!"

"Unfortunately the main actors of the movie declined to come on such short notice. Nevertheless, regardless of how you feel about the Republic, or the Mandalorians, we promise you the most endearing Wookiee zombie performances in the galaxy!" the majordomo told the attendees.

"It is most endearing that Jessica accepted to come tonight, especially since she was one of the only Republican PCs to have seen all the way through, with decoration processes pending at this time - she was but a private contractor as a party in this conflict"

But never in Dunames' lifetime did she expect to come face-to-face with Jessica in something other than a technical or ship procurement capacity. She knew that Jessica was a glory hound but she never expected her battle antics to be featured in a major production - even if said holovid was made mostly out of historical records. She always knew glory was fleeting, and even more so when it comes to entertainment, but Ringovindians weren't particularly fond of zombie flicks. While that holoflick would make her popular among Republican military personnel, especially other snipers, or war movie buffs, more than ever she would be persona non grata among the Mandalorians until the movie falls from the public eye, or the crusade ends. Dunames saw Jessica arrive in her Bluth stair truck driven by her trusty R9 unit, wearing the very WESTAR Skirmisher armor that she used for the very first time on Kashyyyk, as well as wielding the SI-74. It is often common for premieres of horror movies to see any actor from said movie attend it in one of the costumes worn in the movie, often the main one.

"I trust that you won't fire the SI-74 in the middle of the viewing"

THE PLANET
D R U C K E N W E L L

Ruby quartz lenses obscured the distinctive amber eyes of the Pantoran.

Pushing the shades up along the bridge of his nose, the young boy leaned forward on the swoop. The white enameled racing speeder shot through the air, gracefully descending down toward where the red carpet awaited the invited guests to the screening. Rather than hiding in the shadows, or under cover of some anonymous delivery boy for a nondescript courier service, he was, instead, out in a public persona that was quite scare.

It added a flare of some exotic mystery to him. Boo Chiyo, he young speeder jockey from Orto Plutonia who headlined the eponymous Team Chiyo racing group. He'd taken third at the races on Mirial, before the Primeval forces of [member="Zambrano the Hutt"] had ravaged the planet. Then secured a dark horse victory for himself when he'd taken first on Ravelin, before losing to [member="Coci Heavenshield"] in the pod races on Zygerria that followed.

In the time sense, the boy had seemingly vanished from off the face of the galactic map. Of course, he was eleven years old, so it was assumed that he had all the social pressures of adolescence. As well as schooling. Boo Chiyo was a student at the prestigious Levantine Astronautical Academy on Oswaft Station, a position which guaranteed him a commission in the Coalition Navy should he ever want it.

Of course, Boo Chiyo was a fiction. A part scripted for him to step into by the Dark Lord who had discovered a nameless orphan down in the darkest depths of Coruscant's ghettos.

But that didn't mean that the boy who became Exemplar of the Bleeding Sun under Anja aj'Rou's Primeval couldn't enjoy an evening out at the holos. Far from it, even as one of the Knights of Ren, he was still an eleven year old boy. Going to the holos was about the most normal thing he could have done.

He put the swoop in neutral and let inertia coast the bike to a graceful stop on the red carpet. Adjusting the lay of the black 'Imperial' style jacket that he wore over his usual white tunic, the youth was sporting a First Order patch on his left sleeve. Waving to the gathered crowd, the young swoop racer found it odd to step out into the light this way. He spent most of his time avoiding attention, staying in the shadows.

As he made his way toward the entrance to the Star Tours hosted event, the boy tipped his rose-colored glasses down and peered around for any sign of [member="Makai Dashiell"] or [member="Théodred Heavenshield"].

"I'm a fan of these horror flicks to the point that I was even accused by the Factory Judges of watching too many Dathomirian horror holoflicks for my own good when I designed that flying broomstick... sometimes I'd like to think I would have been a convincing mad scientist in those movies but that's probably because I'm a real scientist"

With Jessica making good on her promise to bring [member="Summer Sovereign"] to this premiere, which saw in her one of the geniuses of the galaxy, they both were on the same cloud. By virtue of being a cast member, since she received an advance copy of Dead Fantasy 2 she had access to a few of the secrets that only Kashyyyk veterans knew about the movie. As is the case with every Taking Off on a Star Tour production, every credited member of the cast and other personnel affected to the movie, if alive at the time of the theatrical release, would receive an advance copy. Now, because Jessica was one who lacked subtlety, she feels restricted to playing a rather narrow range of movies, which would have rendered her a bankable actress in these kinds of holomovies at best. DF2: WZoGR was still pending a decision from the Republic and the Mandalorian Clans for theatrical release but the premiere was held on Druckenwell. Wearing the very suit of armor she wore on Kashyyyk (since repaired), alongside the SI-74, she can pass for a Mando fan of Dead Fantasy or a real Republican sniper. Just that many people go to premieres of holos in a series dressed in characters from the previous installments, or dressed like characters from the trailers.

"There are a lot of professions I could have chosen, just that it needed to be a profession that made good use of my abilities. And fit with my personality, too. Show-business just isn't for me"

And some space wizards even gave her the impression that they needed to use spells to be as smart as she was without. But understandably she was probably smart enough not to be needing these spells. Were spells like instinctive astrogation, Force comprehension or Memory Enhancement spells that actually relied on some sort of Force-powered Cloud, using the Force to pick the brains of many people at once? She had no way to find out but that was her idea.

Summer would have made herself up as pretty as she could, she would have applied some bright red lipstick and blush and done her hair up and placed her crown upon her head, as they reached the theatre she would be overwhelmed by the crowd, there were people all around her and she was overwhelmed though being a princess she was a bit used to the attention, but she would never get used to it. As they entered she would smile, and look around at everyone, they would get popcorn and drinks and summer would answer "Why? This seems like a great life but I can get how you would want to do something else"

OOC information:

DF2 is mostly about the zombie arc of the Kashyyyk invasion, that is, posts #149, 153, 154, 160, 177, 178, 194, 196, 199, 217, 220, 227, 231, 233, 239, 252, 253, 266, 269, 272, 276, 282, 283, 285, 287, 290, 292, 293, 294, 295, 297, 298, 301, 302, 303, 304, 305, 306

Dunames knew that the grand room would be used for the premiere - and it was one of the large auditoriums still in service for holovids. The grand auditorium would hold upwards of 1,500 people and, probably a few that half-expected any Mandalorian actors, especially Rekali the Hutt and, even more importantly, Funky Balor to come. But no one would have recognized Jessica under her armor - she would probably pass for a Mandalorian fan of the movie dressed as she was. But Dunames, on the other hand, was dressed far more elegantly than Jessica was. That wasn't enough to make her stand out since so many were just as elegantly dressed for today's premiere screening, after the ball held on Dosuun, she had to do it again. Oh, for the business aspect of it, she delegated most of it to the other execs; plus she wore Utinni #1 for the first time since the ball. Hopefully there wouldn't be a Jawa around Dunames and whatnot...

"One word of warning: if there are any Mandalorians or Republicans here, I'll have to warn you, this is neutral territory and you should refrain to smash each other heads on the premises"

[member="Boo Chiyo"]

"What I dislike about show-business: that industry is fickle. And it all feels so... fake"

Summer handed her a popcorn bag whose contents are made with dried corn grains from Tieos, nothing extraordinary about the popcorn but to eat or drink, she had to take off her helmet. Funky Balor would never, ever guess that Jessica would be hiding on Druckenwell - she isn't a real Republican sniper and both Summer and Funky know it. Plus would Funky even show up to the movie's premiere? Would he accept to go all the way to Druckenwell without having to fight Jessica on it? She was a sensation but would her star fade from the galactic show-business stage once the hype surrounding that holoflick fades? Many female Humans or Near-Humans in the galactic show-business circuit were much slimmer and smaller, unless you were a Mandalorian filmmaker, in which case big people were fashionable to Mandalorian no matter what. You could almost tell whether Mandos produced or funded a holoflick, assuming a female human or Near-Human was in one of the lead roles, by the size of the lead actress: female human/Near-Human leads in Mando holoflicks were usually much taller and much bigger than would be the case in a similar non-Mando holoflick.

"Rorrrgh!" a Wookiee growled upon recognizing Jessica.

"I have very similar morphology to female Wookiees; I also remember [member="Sor-Jan Xantha"] once mistakenly referring to me as a Wookiee"

The young Pantoran had a small bag of popcorn to himself.

With a 'small' Fizzyglug that was almost so large as to not fit in one hand. Plopping down into a seat for the main event, the boy was ready to bunker down and sit still for the next hour or so.

He hoped this wasn't one of those two hour plus holovids. These types of horror flicks really were at their best in a ninety minute format. Any longer than that, chit just got boring.

The warning about Mandalorians and Republicans just elicited a shrug from the youth. He wasn't either, and he'd fought his share of both. Mandalorians more so than Republicans, owing to his presence at the Battle of Wayland, but he'd also clashed with Republic security forces while constructing an orphanage at a refugee camp of all things. In his experience, neither of those groups needed much excuse to shoot people. Though the Mandalorians seemed to discriminate more about who they were shooting at.

OOC: I feel it is best to proceed without Summer...

IC: "The allocation of seats has already begun, apparently. Well, I guess, a first-row seat couldn't hurt. For those with costumes, all headgear must be stowed beneath your seats"

Probably so as to not impair the vision of the other spectators involved. The movie jacket says that the movie runs for 94 minutes. Dunames sees [member="Boo Chiyo"] going for the seat. To be fair, the only chance Dunames got to be among Mandos was on Cademimu for the Cademimu Drift; she never witnessed the conflict firsthand. There were basically only three people who were guaranteed first-row seats for this screening: Dunames, Summer (by virtue of being Jessica's lover) and Jessica herself. Probably want to be seated on a corner so as to minimize the nuisance Jessica's imposing, near-Wookiee stature would cause, although Dunames wasn't any slouch either in terms of height. These were three (very) tall women by human/Near-Human standards. All of them were rather pretty, although Jessica looked a lot better (to Dunames' eyes) without armor than with it. The screening was about to begin, soon.

[member="Jessica Med-Beq"]

Jessica, that bombshell who seemed to "have it all" (by Mandalorian standards; Mandos almost systematically seem to prefer tall women, usually 1.78+m in height, and often 1.88+m, stocky women were the rage in Mando-land for centuries), was a favorite among the Mandalorian horror holoflick fans that traveled all the way to Druckenwell for this but non-Mandos who liked her were either Republicans or Wookiees most of the time. Very few people who didn't fit any of these categories and no Mando veteran of Kashyyyk was to be found. To them Jessica was one girl worth respect. But it was clear that she found holoflick lovers to be shallow, too shallow to her tastes. And, yet, by virtue of being in one of the six starring roles, she was entitled to a first-row seat alongside one guest of their choice. Once everyone was seated, the projectionist guys were ready to roll and the opening stages of the movie began in earnest, with the declaration made by [member="Ra Vizsla"] in front of thousands of Mando'ade when the Crusade was launched. On screen you see warriors from many clans and the four ranking members of the Alor'e Council (one of which was directly aimed at by Jessica) assembled in a plain just outside Keldabe, the Mandalorian capital city, ranting about the crimes of the Republic.

The screening was well underway and the whole room was awash with screams as the various scenes of combat portrayed a widespread carnage on West Beach, especially in the third row of trenches, where Jessica was stationed in the entire time. Turkey corpses littered the ground, zombies, Mandalorian vode as well as Republican soldiers. Wreckage of artillery and other war materiel also stood on all directions across West Beach. But there was that one line where Jessica pointed her SI-74 on Ra Vizsla, the Mand'alor of all people, that caught Dunames' attention, as the movie was about to reach its climax:

"A-ha! As I said previously, there is no space wizard that you must kill to prevent Wookiee zombies from fighting you, or from spawning! Don't go around thinking that you, Mand'alor of all people, will make the zombie onslaught stop by killing Arisa!"
