To those that knew her personally were acutely aware of the parasitical infestation that had burdened her for the last year of her life. Orbalisks were terrible creatures, left behind by Freedon Nadd in his tomb on Dxun, and Darth Ayra had paid the price for divulging the secrets of the dark side. A clandestine life style, built to hide her exploits as a Sith Lord, made this knowledge something of a rarity, but there had been mistakes that had led to certain revelations, and subsequently, there would be those in attendance that would know the truth. As for the majority, the explanation given for Alicia's death was a disease that had ultimately led to her demise. The best lies were those that flirted with the truth. It was a superior disguise.
The location for the funeral was on a cliff face that overlooked the Silver Sea. It was to be a small venue, reserved for those who had known Alicia personally. Business contacts and friends had received the news one week ago, with arrangements for the funeral done in a quick and timely manner, as per the deceased wishes. There would be enemies present, of course. One did not live a life as a Sith Lord without creating them. They would arrive, wearing the disguise of business partner or friend. It was difficult to tell the difference between the three.
On the surface, Alicia Drey was a business entrepreneur who had done her best to revive the agriculture and technology market on Chandrila, using her vast wealth and resources to aide in the reconstruction of Chandrilian culture following the Four-Hundred Year Darkness and the Netherworld Crisis. She was also a Humanitarian, having run several food runs to estranged and far out systems in the Outer Rim Territories. She was an orphan by the age of fourteen, following a catastrophic car crash which resulted in the death of her two elder siblings and parents. She had no other relatives. Stints working for Subach-Innes, which would later become Emeritus Industries, would result in her becoming joint owner of the corporation, before the merger with Ri'ess resulted in her pulling out of the company and devoting her time to Chandrila DataTech and Chandrila Group. During her final weeks, she sold the two Chandrila based companies to [member="Ileris Sonn"] and [member="Valashu Elahad"], much to the ire of a Mandalorian investor in Chandrila Group, who would post this bounty on her. Said investor was not invited to the funeral.
Underneath the facade of Alicia Drey lived Darth Ayra, the Sith Apprentice of Darth Pandeima, whom she would subsequently kill on Coruscant during Darth Junara's attempt to kill the Dark Lord of the Sith. Unlike her Sith Master, Ayra would wear the moniker of Dark Lord of the Sith, although she did not attract followers or build an Empire like her predecessors. Under Pandeima's tutelage, Ayra would form the Rule of Two with her, subsequently completing the rite of succession on the night she murdered her. For the next twelve years, Ayra would focus on the recovery of Sith artifacts, holocrons, information, history and weaponry that confirmed the existence of the Order of the Sith Lords. Using her companies to buy influence into criminal organizations, such as the Black Tie Syndicate, Ayra would recover the long lost Sith Holocron constructed by Darth Revan on Lehon. Humanitarian missions were used as a way to hide her criminal association and search for these dark treasures. Before her death, Darth Ayra would train two Sith Apprentices in the ways of the Force, planning to pit both of them against one another to learn of a true successor. However, before this could come about, an incident on Dxun would result in a parasitical infestation of Orbalisks that ultimately led to her death. After her duel with Taeli Raaf, a Jedi Master she confirmed to possess the holocron of Freedon Nadd, Ayra retired to the Fort on Sojourn, and was subsequently betrayed by one of her disciples, who murdered her to take her place as the Sith Master.
A pyre had been erected on the cliff face, where the deceased was to be burned. Her ashes were to be scattered into the Silver Sea, leaving no trace or evidence of who Alicia Drey really was. The Orbalisks that had infested her for a year died after their host was betrayed, falling off the carcass from which they had feasted. The body was dressed in a dark dressing gown, whilst work had been made on her face to hide the torment and scars left over from what the parasites had done to her.
A will had been left behind following Alicia's death. It was an undisclosed document, detailing what was to happen to her effects, estate and affairs after she died. The inheritor of this will destroyed the document after reading it on Sojourn on the same night they had murdered their Sith Master, taking everything that had belonged to her. As was their right. A soft breeze whipped up the scent of sea salt up onto the grassy cliff face where the funeral was to be conducted. It was a beautiful day on Chandrila. Completely undeserved for a woman who had spent the large majority of her life bringing about the resurrection of an ancient evil that the Jedi believed to have been destroyed millennia ago...
