The Funeral of Alicia Drey

In the early hours of Sojourn's morning, Alicia Drey had passed away. To those that knew her personally were acutely aware of the parasitical infestation that had burdened her for the last year of her life. Orbalisks were terrible creatures, left behind by Freedon Nadd in his tomb on Dxun, and Darth Ayra had paid the price for divulging the secrets of the dark side. A clandestine life style, built to hide her exploits as a Sith Lord, made this knowledge something of a rarity, but there had been mistakes that had led to certain revelations, and subsequently, there would be those in attendance that would know the truth. As for the majority, the explanation given for Alicia's death was a disease that had ultimately led to her demise. The best lies were those that flirted with the truth. It was a superior disguise.

The location for the funeral was on a cliff face that overlooked the Silver Sea. It was to be a small venue, reserved for those who had known Alicia personally. Business contacts and friends had received the news one week ago, with arrangements for the funeral done in a quick and timely manner, as per the deceased wishes. There would be enemies present, of course. One did not live a life as a Sith Lord without creating them. They would arrive, wearing the disguise of business partner or friend. It was difficult to tell the difference between the three.

On the surface, Alicia Drey was a business entrepreneur who had done her best to revive the agriculture and technology market on Chandrila, using her vast wealth and resources to aide in the reconstruction of Chandrilian culture following the Four-Hundred Year Darkness and the Netherworld Crisis. She was also a Humanitarian, having run several food runs to estranged and far out systems in the Outer Rim Territories. She was an orphan by the age of fourteen, following a catastrophic car crash which resulted in the death of her two elder siblings and parents. She had no other relatives. Stints working for Subach-Innes, which would later become Emeritus Industries, would result in her becoming joint owner of the corporation, before the merger with Ri'ess resulted in her pulling out of the company and devoting her time to Chandrila DataTech and Chandrila Group. During her final weeks, she sold the two Chandrila based companies to [member="Ileris Sonn"] and [member="Valashu Elahad"], much to the ire of a Mandalorian investor in Chandrila Group, who would post this bounty on her. Said investor was not invited to the funeral.

Underneath the facade of Alicia Drey lived Darth Ayra, the Sith Apprentice of Darth Pandeima, whom she would subsequently kill on Coruscant during Darth Junara's attempt to kill the Dark Lord of the Sith. Unlike her Sith Master, Ayra would wear the moniker of Dark Lord of the Sith, although she did not attract followers or build an Empire like her predecessors. Under Pandeima's tutelage, Ayra would form the Rule of Two with her, subsequently completing the rite of succession on the night she murdered her. For the next twelve years, Ayra would focus on the recovery of Sith artifacts, holocrons, information, history and weaponry that confirmed the existence of the Order of the Sith Lords. Using her companies to buy influence into criminal organizations, such as the Black Tie Syndicate, Ayra would recover the long lost Sith Holocron constructed by Darth Revan on Lehon. Humanitarian missions were used as a way to hide her criminal association and search for these dark treasures. Before her death, Darth Ayra would train two Sith Apprentices in the ways of the Force, planning to pit both of them against one another to learn of a true successor. However, before this could come about, an incident on Dxun would result in a parasitical infestation of Orbalisks that ultimately led to her death. After her duel with Taeli Raaf, a Jedi Master she confirmed to possess the holocron of Freedon Nadd, Ayra retired to the Fort on Sojourn, and was subsequently betrayed by one of her disciples, who murdered her to take her place as the Sith Master.

A pyre had been erected on the cliff face, where the deceased was to be burned. Her ashes were to be scattered into the Silver Sea, leaving no trace or evidence of who Alicia Drey really was. The Orbalisks that had infested her for a year died after their host was betrayed, falling off the carcass from which they had feasted. The body was dressed in a dark dressing gown, whilst work had been made on her face to hide the torment and scars left over from what the parasites had done to her.

A will had been left behind following Alicia's death. It was an undisclosed document, detailing what was to happen to her effects, estate and affairs after she died. The inheritor of this will destroyed the document after reading it on Sojourn on the same night they had murdered their Sith Master, taking everything that had belonged to her. As was their right. A soft breeze whipped up the scent of sea salt up onto the grassy cliff face where the funeral was to be conducted. It was a beautiful day on Chandrila. Completely undeserved for a woman who had spent the large majority of her life bringing about the resurrection of an ancient evil that the Jedi believed to have been destroyed millennia ago...

Miss Blonde

Trying to be straight in a crooked Galaxy
With an Enigma Class Gas Mask strapped to her face and black suit and tie on her body the Crime Lord known as Miss Blonde had shown up to pay her respects to Alicia. A woman who she had known briefly had assisted on multiple syndicate operations that had made the gang a fair amount of money.

But whatever amount of credits the woman had brought in didn't matter anymore, she was gone, and with her Blonde had one less snake to worry about within her organization. But by snake she didn't mean that in a disrespectful way. Alicia lived her life as a king cobra, a deadly predator that could glide its way into whatever spot then bare its fangs in an instant. And you never blamed a snake for having fangs, it was just in their nature.

But Blonde would admit she was going to miss the Sith. They hadn't talked much but she was one of the more interesting people she had met in her life. She didn't much like her but Blonde would say this, she always made things interesting when she was around. This was even apparent at her funeral, everyone from crime lords to Jedi were here and it was proof of how this woman led a life that was worth living, one that was taken too soon.

Trying to say something to Alicia one last time the woman was drawing blanks. What did you say to a frienemy? She just wasn't sure, so in the end she just spoke from the heart.

"Thank you for the mines, thank you for the credits, but thank you for the fun most of all. With you it was always fun, and I appreciated that. Goodbye Alicia." Blonde said to the departed woman as she stood there on the cliff looking at the pyre.

Joon stood on the cliff, looking over the pyre of Darth Ayra. Her Master. Gone.

Dead.

And so to, her future and dreams of a Sith mantle akin to what she had looked up to in Ayra herself from their first meeting on Duro.

It was a cold, bleak outlook now. Death was natural, and not something JN-4 knew how to fear, but what she DID fear was being alone after having so much to look forward to. She had tasted the Dark Side. Confronted Taeli Raaf. Quizzed Asemir. Prepared for the next part of her development.

And now, atop the cliff, it was all gone.

Joon was dressed in her black attire and wore a loose shawl to cover her head as she stared out where the remains were. Or the body. Or whatever was left of her. From leaving Sojurn unexpectedly, that had been the last time Joon had seen her alive following their saber training. Ayra was ill, that much was clear and she wasn't herself, but still...she had been terminally ill? Or killed? So many unanswered questions.

Joon was all that was left now it seemed, and the Rule Of Two rested on her shoulders. But she knew so little still. There was so much more to understand!

The corner of her mouth curled up a little. It seemed the stronger of the two had survived after all. So did this mean Joon would take the claim as Master? Her eyes rose up to the dark sky. Of course not - she couldn't even fight with a saber very well, let alone claim a Master rank to inspire others.

Pulling the shawl around her and exhaling, Joon stared forward and ignored everyone else. She didn't even know who they were. Probably more secret business partners and conspirators. The clone would leave for Sojurn soon; to the fort she had made a home since Duro and see what she could to do take over from Ayra, now dead. And Joon - Justiciara Noctare - was very much alive.

Ugohr Poof

The Traveling Gungan Salesman
Ugohr couldn't help but see the funeral rite of a Sith Lord; said Sith Lord didn't get around to completing the deal on Tieos the way he envisioned it. But because he was no longer in service as a general, Ugohr wore standard-issue Jedi robes instead, with his two lightsabers safely holstered. He was still a Jedi, however; for the time being he had no Padawan and he couldn't take any until the whole situation on Chandrila is sorted out. And he couldn't go on missions either. So he could tend to his real estate business and go attend that funeral, since the invitation was given to him. Probably his unfinished business with Chandrila Group was the reason why he even got the invitation to attend Alicia's funeral in the first place. The Force may not have been with him back in the main agricultural facility, but here he was in the funeral of a Sith Lord that died for reasons unknown. But the succession of Alicia refused the offer from the Jiroch-Reslia government of a free funeral rite, a free burial spot in the catacombs of Lesrekta and a free coffin, even though it was a dark-sided proposition.

"May yoursa successor complete da agricultural deal, and Merr-Sonn Agricultural finish what yousa started on Tieos. Yousa now una with da Force now"

Ugohr would have to wait for his chance to close the deal he couldn't quite close about the farmland on Tieos... they would be husking corn if Merr-Sonn Agricultural was going to close the deal.

Never had he been to a funeral, he didn't have one, nor did his father. When his brother died, they did not hold one. Funerals were nonsense in his opinion, but due to this being once an enemy of his health, and family, Sin respect Alicia enough to come, and pay his respects to the Sith Lord. When he had first met her, it was on a abandoned ship that he was only investigating. The Vahla was unaware that it had terrible secrets, and many more scavengers on board. He had suffered because of that ship, because of his meeting with Alicia. He had gained it all, only to lose everything because she had decided that once she got what she wanted, she would leave him behind. When Sin looked back on it, she was well within her rights, that had been the deal. She would help him get inside the bridge in exchange she would get what she wanted, and leave. Romeo had learned well from this.

But, his encounters with [member="Alicia Drey"] didn't stop there. She came back, attempted to ally with him only to find him suffering from an affliction. That was when Romeo's fall began. She had been the sole reason he fell, had she not helped him get into the bridge, Romeo would have had to turn around and go home. Still, he had to thank her for it all. He learned from her without her meaning to teach him, or...maybe she did.

He stood in the very back, a black suite on with his hair tied back into a ponytail. His memory going to their last encounter. Alicia had been sucked into the void of space due to him, or so he had thought. By this time, Romeo had already been killed, and resurrected. By this time, Romeo was beginning to regain what he had lost. With her returning to his life, fear rose that she would once again take it all away. Romeo would have none of what she had to say.

And now, here she was, dead. Not from his hands, but from something that eluded him. The fact that his ex-wife, [member="Miss Blonde"], was here spoke great to his heart, though Patricia probably had no clue that Romeo and Alicia fought multiple times, and that she was the reason Patricia had lost Romeo. He decided it was best kept between the two.

I wont tell if you dont...

His mind allowed. Romeo had no words for her, just the respect of a warrior who had bested him at time...majority of the times.

One day I will meet you there...one day.

Stood to the far left of the pyre, Avedia lowered her gaze to the woman that laid before her. Wearing thick, dark garments that hung from her average frame, the woman from Serenno allowed her eyes to travel along the deceases body. She smiled. It was subtle smirk, filled with a rapacious joy that she couldn't release in front of the other mourners. Avedia thought of the sacrifice of it all. The inability to release a laugh, or to showcase her happiness with the passing of Alicia Drey. Alas, she had been well trained.

Averting her gaze from Alicia's corpse to the mourners that had arrived, Avedia allowed her gaze to travel over those who were present. Her eyes first fell on Miss Blonde, the crime lord who founded the Black Tie Syndicate and who was subsequently part responsible for the discoveries on Lehon and Dxun. Whilst one venture had been fruitful for the Sith, the latter had not been. The Force had a way of accelerating events when necessary, and the demise of Darth Ayra was due in part for her activities on the Demon Moon. She pondered on how she would take Alicia's place in the organization.

Eyes trailing, they then fell on Joon. She did not recognize the woman. Making a note of her, Avedia decided that she would look into her later on, when she would catalog Alicia's effects leftover following her death. Turning her gaze, Avedia settled them on the Jedi. She did not recognize him either and wondered why they were here. It was possible that they had been apart of some incredulous scheme to affect the Jedi. Darth Ayra had hidden in plain sight for a little over two decades, meeting with many individuals one might have considered the enemy. She decided to pay no attention to Ugohr. It was not the time to trifle with the Jedi.

Finally, her eyes found Romeo Sin. She knew of him, but was again unsure of the relation that he had shared with the deceased. Observing the mourners, Avedia noted that neither seemed to know each other.

Alicia Drey had been called "Chandrila's Greatest Hope" once, during a documentary hosted on Chandrila at the turn of the decade. It had been about the affect that the Four-Hundred Year Darkness had had on the agricultural sector, not only in the Chandrila system, but the Bormea sector, and other sectors beyond it. The show had attributed the recent rise in population and economical growth to the efforts of Alicia and Chandrila Group, who had revitalized the agricultural scene on Chandrila, transforming the rural district of Emita into a farmers paradise. It had been an excellent puff piece, which Alicia had signed off on through an offshoot contact, so as to help build up her image. She was a local girl, on a backwater world, and was subsequently a heroine in many eyes for what she had done for Chandrila and her people. So, it wasn't a surprise when scores of people turned up to pay their tributes and respects, oblivious to who Alicia Drey had actually been.

The priest, who was overseeing the funeral, moved to begin the final part. The torch, which would be used to set the pyre aflame, was now burning in a nearby stone basin. Time was allowed for more pilgrims to leave behind letters, flowers or affects as a sign of gratitude for the celebrities work. Any late comers would have to turn up now, or lose their chance to look at the face of their former friend, ally or enemy.

For all that they'd been enemies, Mara and [member="Darth Ayra"] had shared a tenuous, ever-shifting, yet functional alliance. Neither had ever trusted the other, nor done anything but seek leverage in an ongoing war of position, but they'd come a long way together. Was it a betrayal of the light to miss her a little?

"Always had to play your cards close to your chest, didn't you," Mara whispered. "And I figured it out too late." She leaned down and tucked a small vial in among the cards and flowers.

Orbalisk antivenin.

Ugohr Poof

The Traveling Gungan Salesman
Perhaps that would explain why Chandrila Group didn't actually get much done in the Tieos dossier before she died: Darth Ayra did not trust Ugohr at all. May Merr-Sonn Agricultural actually do something to get the unfinished business finished. As he saw Darth Ayra's body being set ablaze, Ugohr was hoping that the new owners of Merr-Sonn Agricultural would not be... dark-sided the way Darth Ayra was. Admittedly IGR was doing a lot of business with other businesses, and in the world of real estate one often talked about B2B, B2C and, less commonly, about B2F, meaning that they specialize in business, residential and faction property respectively. IGR was a full-spectrum real estate office, especially when one wants to build IGR into the largest real estate brokerage in the galaxy, and they were among the largest in light-sided space already. RBF apparently didn't like Darth Ayra either. She didn't know that Ugohr was actually a Jedi Brute when she lived.

"Probably because mesa just a harmless Jedi realtor dat shesa ignoren me for all that time"
