Junction The Frontier War: Beacons of Light | Junction of Enclave-V'Shar, GA-Iskadrel

Alora peeked her head out of the sewer exit. The dimmed glow of her visor swept over the immediate area. A moment later and she drew back to look down at Kranak Vizsla Kranak Vizsla and Sasha Kryze Sasha Kryze . "Immediate area's clear. Comm tower being down bought us a little time, but we can't trust to stealth any more." Even assuming no one heard the clash in the tunnels, someone top side must have gone for help by now. Unless the commanding officers in this base were arrogant to a fault, of course.

Carefully, the Mandalorian woman ascended topside once more with both disruptors drawn in case of an ambush while the others exited, if they chose to do so.

"If you can hold them off me, I can get us through the security door. It'll take a few seconds." How long would depend on what level of security these people had managed to afford or been gifted. With everything else they had on hand, Alora probably had a challenge on her hands. That was alright though because she didn't back down from challenges. Already been pitted against the worst in her life far as she was concerned.

She expected company when they crossed over to the warehouse's exterior. Being inside the perimeter only meant they could have visitors from every angle and direction -- except directly in front of them until the doors opened. Alora trusted those with her would handle those details. After all, she couldn't go running around vaporizing people when she needed to focus on how to bypass a security system. Well, she could, but it would draw out the slice time and they were kind of on the clock.

In position, Alora deflty knocked a panel free to expose some circuitry. She drew out one of the devices she'd gathered before they set out and connected wires from it to the exposed controls. Her fingers danced over the small interface to isolate the command pathways needed to override the lockout.

Get in, secure the crystals, and get out... How they managed that last part with most of their group occupied with some thing down below was a good question. Something about their circumstances said 'emergency extraction.' Anti-air was still a pain though. Hopefully Alora would find a terminal still connected to the local grid and figure out how to minimize the aerial control these thugs managed to command.

The barrels had been spinning the whole way through, but actually firing the thing required a moment of hesitation. He'd always had to get over that urge to just plain start shooting as soon as he could point his weapon at Krek. The primal sort of instinct that probably worked all good when people were fighting with rocks and sticks and kriff, but didn't really have much place when you're dealing with six spinning barrels of recoil and a multi-thruster jetpack in a closed environment. If Thonn wanted to shoot, he could shoot now. But if he wanted to do so from a stable trajectory and keep on shooting; he'd have to wait that brief moment.

Towards the apex of his jump and well above the others had been the moment, and with a squeeze of the trigger his rotary cannon began to roar. A maelstrom of blaster fire down upon Krek, and his shoulder seized in pain as muscles tensed to keep the beast of a weapon under control. Well he was right, he'd mangled that up pretty bad; but his arm still worked and their enemy still badly needed to get shot – so that was gonna suck and he'd just have to deal with it.

Gritting his teeth, Thonn managed to keep the cannon trained on Krek from his airborne position above. Painful as it was, the motivation to cause his opponent pain proved strong enough to weather through it and continue to fire at the cybernetic monstrosity.

Yet there was only so much time to engage. Once he had finished his jump, he'd find himself on the surface and unable to shoot without running the risk of friendly fire on the pair of Jedi. Krek was clearly wise to the predicament, and aptly manoeuvred himself to keep behind them.

Thonn would land under better control than last time. Both his feet plunging beneath the water's surface with a splash to stand beside Gorthalon, who was providing covering fire with shots aimed at Krek. The Jedi were busy making their moves and Thonn had used the opportunity afforded the best he could. With weapon at the ready but ultimately remaining unfired, Thonn prepared for whatever actions the battle would require next.

When she slipped away, avoiding him completely, it finally occurred that this had never been a fair fight.

A second and third blaster bolt seared his armor. Krek rolled to the side, avoiding the barrage long enough for the attacker to drop, but there was no time. The other two came quickly from opposite sides -- his blade swung, deflecting the blade of the one who had severed his arm earlier. The other, though weaker, still slashed past his weakened armor, biting through his left side.

The quicker one followed up. Krek had no time to turn, but as the blade thrust through his back and his heart, it was not his own pain that he thought of. The small pod attached to his back, where the most precious of things was kept, was damaged.

"NO." The vocabulator failed to capture his emotion; it was all he could muster.

With a savage roar he spun, batting at the quicker one to get her away, keep her from hurting it any longer. His other hands went to his belt, grabbing a pair of thermal detonators and priming them. There was still some time before they exploded, but he intended them more as a ward than as an attack. His one leg forced him to bound and jump away. Without grace, filled with a primal fear and desperation, he leapt away from the enemy, throwing the grenades in their path as he tried to escape.

When the violet blade exploded through Krek's torso, Valery wasn't nearly as surprised by the fact that he was still standing, as she was by something she felt from him. She heard his "NO." but it lacked the emotion that she felt echoing through the Force. To any Jedi with empathic skills, it was common to feel the fear of an opponent or allies when they were injured or about to die. But this wasn't a fear for his own life, it was related to something else.

It briefly made her wonder, but there was little time to think about it all - he was moving again.

In response to her attack, Krek spun around and tried to force distance, which she decided to take. With a jump in retreat, she cleared away from the arms and thus allowed him an almost guaranteed escape. But in his attempt to flee from the scene, two thermal detonators were primed and dropped, causing the Jedi's eyes to widen.

"Watch out!"

She called out to anybody close while she directed her free hand forward to project a shield against the explosion. It would contain the blast and debris flying up towards them, but there was no way anybody could pass through that chaos safely. So by the time the smoke and debris settled, Krek was long gone.

"Area secured," Valery said as she stared into the direction that Krek ran off into, her mind still somewhat lingering at the feeling she got from it earlier. But after a moment, she turned to the group.

"He's gone, but he wasn't our objective. Let's continue for the Kyber crystals."
