The Fox and The Hound (Vulpesen)

He rose a brow at her, flicking each tail in a row. "Feel free to join him there. I know I've used quite a few veran tails a pillows. They're actually quite comfortable." He swirled one tail around himself to rest his head over it.

Neshoba was so surprised by Vulpesen's answer that she turned her head to look at him. Lenta lost her balance, of course, and landed on the ground in a summer-salt.
You want me to sleep in your tails?
[member="Vulpesen"]

He shrugged and curled the tail under his chin. "I said you could if you wanted. Though, the idea of letting you sleep on the dirt does seem a bit unpleasant." His eyes followed the falling wolf for a moment before reverting back to Neshoba. "Of course, you are free to choose."

Any normal person would find this a bit odd, of course. But Neshoba was obviously not normal. After apologetically giving Lenta's head a little nuzzle, she started trotting back over to Vulpesen. The red Ashlan followed her.
Guess one night couldn't hurt. Never slept in someone else's tails before.

Vulpesen couldn't help but smirk at her wording. "You act like my tails are gliteryll incarnate." He nuzzled a bit more into the black fur before speaking again. "As if a night of using them as a pillow will lead to some addiction or health problems." He felt something crawling on hi and turned to see Ace making his way up to his head. "Though, it seems not everyone is so reserved."

Neshoba sniffed the tails, trying to chose the softest one. She decided on the middle one, and gently laid down on it. It felt like a really soft carpet. Lenta came and curled up next to her.
Just let me know if you need me to move. Don't want to give you trouble sleeping.

He nodded and closed his eyes, shifting a bit to get relaxed. "I don't think it'll be a problem." He smiled a bit and waved one of hi tail, signalling tot he ashlans that they could close the Ysalimiri back into position. A few moments later and Vulpesen would feel his connection leave him, as if it were a closing nightlight.

Goodnight Vulpesen.
Neshoba curled around Lenta, her nose slightly covered by her tail. It didn't take her long to fall asleep.

He smiled a bit and let his breathing even out, sending the words back to her as he finally slept. "Goodnight." It was surprisingly easy for him to sleep, even in the unusual form. With Ace, Neshoba, and Lenta curled in his fr, he simply drifted off until the morning.

----------------------
Neshoba was awakened by a small, cold nose nudging her several times on the cheek. A single ruby eye lazily opened to look at Lenta. It was barely sunrise. She was about to go back to sleep when she suddenly felt the urgency coming from the red Ashlan. Urgency and something else. Fear. Nesh's head rose from the soft bed of Vulpesen's tail, looking around warily. Something was out there...

Vulpesen's eyes flashed open and he slowly rose up his eyes scanning around the area. Guess two of us was a bit much for them to not go after. Shoulda seen it coming. He passed a glance to Neshoba and stretched himself a bit. If he was gonna get into a fight this early, he'd rather not get cramps while doing it. His mind continued to speak to Neshoba through Ace and Lenta. Vornskr. Likely hoping to take a few bites out of the both of us, as well as the ashlans.

Neshoba too was now standing up, her eyes darting about in every direction for signs of movement. She stood protectively over Lenta, who was emitting a very low growl. The other Ashlans were either hiding or emerging from their dens to try and defend their homes.
How many Vornskr to a pack? I can't hear or see anything.
[member="Vulpesen"]

Vulpesen sent a glance to Ace then let out a small sigh. "Can you handle three on your own?" His tails flicked and he glanced to the entrance of the dome. "If not, we can see what Ashlans can help with the battle." His claws flexed from the large black paws. Taking on vornskr in this form, he wasn't sure how well he'd do, but he'd give it a shot.

As long as they're not as big as you, I should be fine.
It was an unintentionally light-hearted reply. Nesh focused herself, shaking of the sleep still in her muscles and honing in on her instincts. There was a crack of a twig somewhere to the left. Her eyes immediately turned toward it. What she saw were shadows... Shadows that were moving through the trees. Lenta continued growling, looking in that direction as well.

"Good, then I'll take the other seven." His nose sniffed at the air and he let out a bark into the shadows of the forest, picking up the movement of the Vornskr. No doubt, his unusual form was at least somewhat intimidating. He simply hoped that Neshoba's advantage of intelligence was enough to make up for her lack of physical edges against the creatures. Get a bit behind me. Hopefully, I'll be be to manage the numbers when they come out to attack.

The other seven?! Neshoba obeyed Vulpesen, gently nudging Lenta backward with her paw as she took up a position slightly behind him. The Vornskrs became visible now, slinking out of the trees. The ten of them were spread out in a kind of half-circle, no doubt attempting to trap the Ashlans inside. Something told the ruby-eyed wolf that they weren't anticipating two much larger four-legged beasts to deal with.

Vulpesen smirked and splayed his tails out behind him, inviting the Vornskr to come in and try their luck. Shifting his position around, he managed to position three of them towards Neshoba behind him while the rest of the ten were stuck facing him. Hopefully, his size would do well to give him an advantage. Just call if you need help.

Right.
Neshoba focused her attention on the three Vornskr now facing her. One of which had their eyes locked on Lenta. That made the white wolf angry. She tilted her head downward slightly, flattening her ears and letting out a very loud snarl. All of Nesh's teeth were showing, barred and intimidating. Her glare was bright and antagonizing.
The Vornskr looking at Lenta took a single step forward. That was all the incentive Neshoba needed. She suddenly launched herself in the creature's direction, slamming into it while simultaneously knocking the other two down. Lenta made a mad dash for the cluster of Ashlans forming near them. There was safety in numbers.

Vulpesen continued his growls at the other Vornskr, his tails flicking out at each one as they came in to bite at him. Already they were attempting to surround him using their tails to slash and paralyze his vulpine body. Only problem was, Veran Foxes were adapted to withstand the toxins of the teradin tree, a powerful paralytic. What differences in toxins there were ended up being counteracted by his large size.

He heard a snap behind him and caught the sight of a vornskr trying to take him down from the back. Quickly, his middle tail swung up, catching the animal full in the belly and hurling it into two of its friends while his other four tails lashed out to nail the heads of the others. Three managed to escape the bashing, but one still managed to take a stunning blow that left it dizzy enough for a slap that sent it somewhat airborne. How ya doin!?

Neshoba was too into the fight to respond. The way she saw it, Vornskr were like large dog-like scorpions. She concentrated on avoiding their tails, bobbing and weaving as she went for their necks. Maybe if she got them to swing just right, she could bite the end off of their tails. She winced as one of them managed to bite down on the side of her neck. Damn, she hated smart opponents.
