The Forging of Ijaat and Kot (open to All Mandalorians and Silver Sanctum Jedi)

[member="Ryker Tal'verda"]

Ordo looked down at the young boy, his bright expectant eyes like small jewels as he asked if Ordo was ready to do the smithing required. He was, of course, ready. This was what he had done for many many years and he would likely continue to do the work of a smith until he was too old to lift the hammer. He took the raw beskar that the youth had brought and piece by piece began placing it is a pile by his forge.

He spoke not a word though the youth likely wanted to hear a response and began the smelting process. Smelting was the first step to making anything. The raw beskar was superheated piece by piece to get out impurities. The dross was skimmed off and the step was repeated until all that was left was the remaining pure metal. In many cases another metal was added to lighten the beskar and make it more ductile to the forging process but with Ordo's experience that was not needed. The boy would learn to appreciate the weight...in time.

Ordo watched as the beskar was melted down. The fire burned hot enough to kill easily, that was the price of hardness, a high melting point, but again preparation and experience kept the risk low. He poured the fininshed metals into the molds he had made in advance using the measurements for the boy and one by one the hilts and plates were set to the side to cool.

As the lifesaver hilts cooled Ordo took a standard beskar weave jumpsuit out and began checking for damage or imperfections before he laid it atop his work station. With a high grade plasma welder he took the plates he had formed from the extrametal and started fastening them together in the proper places and attaching the locks and seals so the boy could survive harsh conditions. The trick was doing the work while the plates were solid but not so cool as to make working on them difficult.

With the small armor done Ordo took the two beskar bars he had set aside and began the delicate and slow process of milling them. His metal lathe was old and made of beskar itself but it had made many joints bearings and yes Ordo's own lightsabers. The metal spun at 25,000 rpms as the beskar bore began to slowly remove the UN wanted material.
Sweat beaded on the big man's forehead, face red from the heat as he worked non-stop to make the hilts things of beauty. After several days of working Ordo called the boy.

"Your new jetties'kad are ready Ad'ika and a new skin as well." He said as he presented the boy with the hilts and the new armor, the piece his mother had given him fixed prominently and Tal'verda clan crest on breast plate and shoulder, While a small section on the side of the ribs held a very small stamp that showed Ordo had done the work personally. It was done. The boy had worked had fought and waited. Now his first steps into manhood had begun. He was strong. He was determined. He was a warrior. He was now, Mandalorian....

Watching old Ordo forging the hilts of Ryker's lightsabers, Lor vaguely remembered the day he and Rawnie had spent wandering around Keldabe, looking for the metal to build him armor as strong as hers. And now he was watching his wife's armor being used to make his son's weapons. It felt odd, but he realized that his contributions would probably lie along the lines of weapons training more than anything else.
But what he was seeing was a Mandalorian thing and a Jedi thing, and he was neither. Oh well. He'd gotten used to that feeling a long time ago. The only place where he'd felt at home were Chroma Zed, and now sometimes the Tal'verda village. He looked at Ryker and grinned teasingly.
"Well, Red, you're a little warrior now... You better let me watch you make those glowsticks."
