  • Description: The Federal Assembly is the centralized government of the Core Federation of Free Alliances (The Alliance) and consists of two primary branches: the House of Lords (legislative) and the Chamber of Ministers (executive). In addition to these, the Royal Family holds an honourary seat and acts as a political and diplomatic advisor to the government, as well as a symbolic/ceremonial figurehead alongside the elected Chief of State.
GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Hierarchy:
The House of Lords - Each of the High Lords have equal power and authority within the Alliance, regardless of the size or power of their individual domains. The High Lords report directly to the Office of the Chief of State.
The Chamber of Ministers - The Ministers and staff members of the various ministries are organized into simple and generic office hierarchies. In most cases, this means that groups of employees report to a supervisor, who report to a Manager, who in turn report to Department Manager. These various Department Managers report directly to the appointed Minister.
The Royal Family - The current head of the Royal House of Grayson is Cedric Grayson. It is from him that the hierarchy branches, with direct relatives serving as possible hiers to the title of Lord-Imperator or holding Ducal titles, while more distantly related Graysons may occupy minor titles of nobility within the realm.
  • Membership:
The House of Lords - The House consists of representatives, known as High Lords, from each of the governments/planets that make up the Alliance. It is common for a planet's Head of State to represent them in the House as their High Lord, but it is not mandatory. Should their Head of State be unable or unwilling, governments may choose to elect an ambassador to represent their interests and concerns on the federal stage.
The Chamber of Ministers - The Federal Assembly has nine distinct Ministries that manage and oversee specific sectors of public administration. These ministries are: Justice, Defense, Intelligence, Labour, Commerce, Health, Agriculture, Education & Faith. Each of the ministries is lead by a Minister who is appointed by the Chief of State, with the approval of at least 50% of the House of Lords. The Chamber is made up of these nine Ministers, who work together to coordinate the day-to-day functions and many cooperative projects of the federal government in accordance with the laws and guidelines presented to them by the House & Chief of State. Ministries may also propose new laws to member of the House of Lords, who are then responsible for voting them into effect.
The Royal Family - House Grayson is officially recognized as the Royal Family of the Core Federation of Free Alliances. This is a remnant honour that stems from Lord-Imperator Cedric Grayson's liberation of Coruscant in 858 ABY and founding of the Grayson Imperium, which would eventually reform to become the Alliance. The few remaining members of House Grayson reside within the Palace District of Galactic City, and are generally well-respected by the citizens of the nation for the role the Lord-Imperator played in re-uniting the Core Worlds under the Common Charter.

  • Climate: The climate of the Federal Assembly fits the average expectations of working in a democratic government environment. Common courtesies and pleasantries are common practice, with many managers looking to boost morale and productivity naturally through positive working environments. Corrupt practices are discourage or outright illegal, though that doesn't always stop individuals from attempting political maneuvering through blackmail, malpractice or other malicious means. Employees are expected to behave professionally and do their best to avoid putting themselves or their departments in compromising positions.
  • Reputation: As a representative and democratic government, the Federal Assembly is generally well regarded by the citizens of the Alliance. Considering the harsh times the Core Worlds have faced in recent years and beyond, such a system is a welcomed change to those who have suffered under the authority of Imperial rule or brutality of Sith conquest. However, across the Alliance's many different worlds, there will always be patriots who protest their government's "servitude" to a greater power, supporters of Imperial rule, or libertarians who dismiss the need for a federal government altogether.
  • Curios: Members of the Federal Assembly have a wide variety of identifiers to signify their branch of the government, representation, ministry, rank, etc. The most widely deployed method of identification is simple name tags with scannable ident-glyphs built into them, or other similar means of personal scandocs. Other methods can vary widely across branches/departments/ministries, but include: ceremonial broaches for High Lords that depict their respective government crests, code cylinders, specialized uniforms, embroidered patches, and ribbon bars.
  • Rules: The Federal Assembly follows the laws and legislation of the Core Federation of Free Alliances. In addition, each branch/department/ministry implement their own policies and best practices. Although they can very greatly depending on the line of work, these typically include confidentiality agreements, dress code standards, operational safety procedures, and other work-specific guidelines.
  • Goals: The goal of the Federal Assembly is to promote stability and security throughout the Core Worlds and abroad; to protect the rights and freedoms of all sentient beings; and to improve the quality of life for all citizens of the Core Federation of Free Alliances. The ultimate goal of the Assembly would be, put simply, the end of tyranny and suffering throughout the Galaxy.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Federal Assembly, originally established as the National Assembly, was founded on Corucant in 858 ABY as part of the Constitution of the Grayson Imperium. Although the name and Head of State changed with the
Declaration of Incapacity and the signing of the Common Charter in 860 ABY, which saw the Grayson Imperium reform into the Core Federation of Free Alliances, the vast majority of the government's structure and function remains the same.
