• Description: The Evazan Institute of Medicine is a sprawling medical and biomedical research facility built into the mountainous terrain of Prakith. From the outside, the Institute appears as a relatively conventional, if unusually large, medical campus: administrative buildings, patient facilities, laboratories, landing platforms, staff residences, and support infrastructure built around the entrance to a vast subterranean complex. Its remote location and construction within the mountain are publicly justified by the nature of its work. The Institute specializes in infectious disease research, epidemiology, rare and catastrophic illnesses, pathogen containment, vaccine development, and emergency medicine, making isolation and extensive underground infrastructure particularly useful. Largely funded by Solstice Dynamics, the Institute is among the corporation's most significant humanitarian and scientific investments. It maintains partnerships with hospitals, research institutions, refugee organizations, and planetary health authorities, and has developed a reputation for treating patients and studying diseases that other facilities lack the resources or expertise to confront. • The Grand Atrium: The principal entrance to the Evazan Institute and the closest thing the facility possesses to a conventional public face. Built into a vast natural cavern near the mouth of the mountain, the Atrium serves as the Institute's primary reception area, transit hub, and administrative center. Patients, visitors, researchers, and authorized personnel pass through its galleries to reach the hospital, laboratories, and deeper levels of the facility. The Atrium also contains the Evazan Archives, a secure but accessible repository of medical records, epidemiological studies, historical research, biological data, and portions of the Institute's historical collection. Its oldest records include documents recovered from the Imperial work camp upon which the Institute was built.

SECURITY

MAXIMUM - The Evazan Institute of Medicine defenses are not designed to transform the Institute into a military installation or fortress capable of resisting a sustained military assault, but rather to protect personnel, secure valuable research, contain dangerous biological materials, and prevent the theft, escape, or unauthorized movement of prisoners and research subjects. The Institute's location within a mountain provides a substantial natural defensive advantage, with the surface campus, landing platforms, and primary approaches monitored by Solstice security personnel and automated surveillance systems, while the overwhelming majority of its sensitive infrastructure remains buried beneath the surface behind multiple layers of checkpoints, identification protocols, biometric access controls, reinforced corridors, blast doors, and independently sealable containment sectors.

Security is heavily compartmentalized, with personnel granted access according to their assignment rather than the facility as a whole, meaning even senior physicians and researchers may be unable to enter adjacent sections without additional authorization. Environmental and biological monitoring systems are integrated throughout the facility, allowing affected laboratories, wards, or corridors to be isolated during contamination events, fires, security breaches, or other emergencies, while dedicated containment teams work alongside conventional security personnel in the Institute's most hazardous areas. The West Wing receives additional protection due to its secure wards, detention sectors, and specialized research facilities, with prisoner transfers and the movement of dangerous biological materials requiring coordinated authorization from both medical and security personnel. The Evazan Institute of Medicine was established in approximately 753 ABY, less than three decades after Solstice Dynamics was acquired by the mysterious holdings company that transformed it from a modest toy manufacturer into a vast network of welfare institutions, clinics, refugee programs, and humanitarian organizations. Publicly, the Institute was founded to address the medical needs created by Solstice's expanding operations, providing a centralized center for infectious disease research, epidemiology, advanced treatment, and the study of biological threats. Prakith was selected for its isolation and the extensive subterranean infrastructure already concealed within its mountainous terrain, including the remnants of an Imperial work camp that were gradually absorbed into the expanding facility.

Over the following century and a half, the Institute became one of Solstice's most respected scientific institutions. Its physicians developed treatments for rare diseases, responded to outbreaks, maintained extensive biological archives, and accepted patients whose conditions could not safely be managed elsewhere. Its work was especially valuable among displaced populations and war-torn regions already served by Solstice's broader humanitarian network. Like much of Solstice's public work, the Institute's reputation was genuine. Its doctors saved lives, its researchers produced valuable scientific knowledge, and its medical programs benefited countless people across the galaxy.

The Institute's name, however, was never innocent. Contrary to the convenient assumption that it was named after an obscure founder or donor, no founder named Evazan ever existed. The facility was named directly for Dr. Cornelius Evazan, better known as Dr. Death. The choice was deliberate, and those responsible for establishing the Institute considered the reference something of a private joke. To the Sith and other individuals familiar with the network behind its creation, the name served as a quiet signal, a dog whistle celebrating scientific brilliance unconstrained by conventional morality. The Institute's public defenders have spent generations claiming the name instead serves as a warning against those very principles.

The individuals behind the Institute were connected to the same clandestine network that had once assisted the First Order in its campaign of child kidnapping and indoctrination. Following the regime's collapse, the network scattered itself throughout legitimate corporations, criminal organizations, private holdings, and humanitarian institutions. Solstice provided it with resources, legitimacy, and access to populations across the galaxy. The Institute became one of its most important long-term investments, providing access to biological information, medical research, secure facilities, and individuals who could be classified, depending on the circumstances, as patients, prisoners, or research subjects.

By the late ninth century ABY, much of this scattered network had gradually coalesced around the reformed Church of the Dark Side under Solipsis. After the fall of the Galactic Empire, the Church fractured with a number of prominent and powerful Sith jostling to either dismantle it entirely, or absorb its devotional power. Ironically, the sect of the Church which excerised control over Solstice Dynamics, the same cabal which centuries earlier had been associated with the First Order and the Final Order, sided with Nagual. Through them, Nagual bears the title Supreme Prophet of the Dark Side, and possesses authority within the Institute, and the broader corporate structure as the newest shadowy Chairman of Solstice Dynamics. His influence over the Institute is therefore not merely corporate. He stands at the intersection of Solstice's modern structure, the old network that helped create it, and the religious institution that absorbed much of that network's surviving influence.

The Institute was designed to survive governments. Its departments are heavily compartmentalized, its operations distributed across legitimate medical, corporate, and research structures, and its most controversial activities concealed within an institution that is genuinely too useful to easily dismantle. Most employees understand only their own portion of the facility. A physician may spend an entire career saving lives without knowing where certain samples originated. A researcher may develop treatments without understanding the full purpose of the work. Each individual part of the Institute can appear legitimate, ethical, and even admirable. The complete picture is considerably more complicated.

By 902 ABY, the Evazan Institute had existed for nearly one hundred and fifty years. It had survived wars, revolutions, and the rise and fall of governments without fundamentally altering its purpose. Even the Sith Covenant's seizure of the Core failed to meaningfully disrupt its operations. The Institute remained isolated, useful, and deeply embedded within galactic medical and humanitarian networks. Indeed, increased access to raw materials and strategic resources has allowed the facility to continue expanding deeper into the mountain, increasing its research and containment capacity rather than diminishing it.

Today, the Evazan Institute of Medicine is one of the galaxy's most significant centers for infectious disease research and advanced medicine. Its patients are real. Its physicians are real. Its scientific breakthroughs are real. So is its darker work. For nearly a century and a half, the Institute has survived by making itself indispensable, and the joke that began with its name has endured longer than most governments: they named one of the galaxy's most respected medical institutions after Dr. Death because the people who founded it thought it was funny.
