| DESCRIPTION |
| The Eclipse was never intended to be subtle. Conceived as the personal Flagship of Srina Talon, in a joint venture between Aether Systems and Jaeger Solutions commissioned under a discreet procurement directive issued by an unidentified benefactor within the Sith Order, the Dark Sovereign-class Battlecruiser was designed to fulfill several roles that would ordinarily be divided between multiple vessels. It is a command ship, a carrier, a fortress, and a royal conveyance in equal measure - a mobile seat of authority and power for the Empress of the Eleventh Sith Empire, capable of carrying its mistress across the stars without sacrificing the military strength expected of a vessel at the heart of an armada. Though easily outclassed by the infamous Mors Mon, its appearance reflects the measured balance of the Dread Queen. Rather than following the familiar dagger-shaped profile of conventional warships, The Eclipse possesses an immense pyramidal superstructure inspired by the ancient Tho Yor. Rising several kilometers from its lower hull, the structure gives the vessel an unmistakable silhouette that is as ceremonial as it is imposing. Dark metallic armor, broken by exposed structural elements, hangar apertures, weapons emplacements, and immense support struts, lends the Battlecruiser the appearance of an ancient monument translated into a weapon of modern warfare. At five kilometers tall and two-and-a-half kilometers across, it is less a ship in the conventional sense than a citadel set adrift among the stars. This immense scale provides The Eclipse with considerable internal volume, with vast sections of the lower structure dedicated to hangars, maintenance facilities, launch corridors, docking infrastructure, ammunition stores, and workshops required to sustain its complement of starfighters and support craft. Fifty squadrons can be housed aboard the vessel, allowing it to operate as the center of its own aerospace force rather than depending entirely upon accompanying carriers. Docking clamps further allow smaller capital ships to attach directly to the battlcruiser for the transfer of personnel, material, and supplies. The upper reaches of the vessel are considerably different. Here, the utilitarian architecture of a warship gradually gives way to the requirements of a flagship and royal estate. Command chambers, strategic operations centers, communications suites, audience spaces, private quarters, and secure residential sections provide everything Srina Talon needs to govern, receive guests, and direct military operations without leaving the vessel's protection. Although lavish where appropriate, these spaces retain the restrained severity present throughout The Eclipse. Grandeur is expressed through scale, symmetry, polished metal, stone, glass, and carefully controlled illumination rather than excessive ornamentation. At the center of this command infrastructure lies the vessel's extensive sensor and communications network. Information gathered across the battlefield can be collated and projected for commanders as both visual and electronic tactical data, allowing The Eclipse to coordinate not merely its own starfighters and weapons but entire formations of capital ships. From this position, a Flag Officer can observe the changing battlespace, distribute orders, designate targets, and coordinate fleet movements while remaining protected deep within the Battlecruiser. Hidden still deeper within the ship is one of its most unusual chambers, a Qabbrat constructed for a Force-sensitive occupant. The meditation chamber is isolated from much of the surrounding vessel and provided with its own life-support systems. At the same time, a holoscreen allows its occupant to observe events beyond the hull. The arrangement permits the Chamber to function like the ancient Sith Meditation Spheres, providing the Mother of the Great Leviathan with a private sanctuary and serving as another component of The Eclipse's command apparatus. For all its ceremonial qualities, however, The Eclipse remains unmistakably a warship. Its hull carries an enormous collection of turbolasers, ion cannons, megamasers, missile and torpedo launchers, jamming systems, point-defense batteries, and specialized weapons. Hapan-derived weapon rotation drives allow sections of this arsenal to cycle across the exterior hull, bringing charged weapons into firing positions while depleted systems withdraw to recharge or rearm. In extreme circumstances, the same mechanism can concentrate an extraordinary amount of firepower toward a single portion of the battlespace. Four gravity-well projectors further reinforce the vessel's role as a centerpiece of major fleet engagements. The Eclipse can deny hyperspace escape across an operational area, drag vessels from hyperspace, and turn an attempted withdrawal into a prolonged engagement. Its Crystal GravField Trap complements this capability by enabling detection of vessels concealed behind active cloaking systems. In contrast, electronic warfare systems and jamming beams interfere with enemy targeting and precision weapons. The result is a vessel designed not merely to destroy an opponent, but to control the conditions under which an engagement occurs. However, the price of that dominance is mobility. The Eclipse is extraordinarily slow at sublight speeds and possesses little of the maneuverability expected from smaller capital ships. Once committed to an engagement, it cannot rapidly reposition, perform precise tactical maneuvers, or effectively pursue enemies that escape its gravity-well envelope. Its enormous pyramidal silhouette makes concealment virtually impossible, while the exposed support structures required by its unconventional architecture provide identifiable points where concentrated damage can compromise portions of the ship. Even its primary drive system, though protected, occupies a recognizable ventral superstructure whose destruction could cripple the vessel. These limitations shaped the behavior around the Battlecruiser. Its complement of Megamasers is destructive in its own right, a unique weapons that use both kinetic and laser energy simultaneously. However, despite their destructive output, their capacitors require a longer recharge phase before they can be fired again, resulting in a lower rate of fire than that of their standard complement of Turbolaser Cannons. Its use of Hapan-derived rotation drives comes with its own issue: damage to these drives can lock the weapon systems in place as the drives become inoperable. Even its Gravity Well Projectors are a double-edged sword; although they prevent an enemy from escaping into hyperspace, they can equally prevent escort vessels from fleeing into hyperspace while still active. The Eclipse does not hunt its enemies; it arrives. Ordinarily accompanied by escorts and deployed where its immense firepower, fighter complement, command systems, and interdiction capabilities can exert the greatest influence, it serves as an anchor around which an entire fleet can organize. Smaller vessels maneuver, Starfighters pursue, and Escorts screen its vulnerable approaches. The Eclipse occupies the center and steadily transforms the battlespace around itself into territory controlled by its guns, sensors, gravity wells, and squadrons. In this respect, its name is particularly fitting. The Eclipse was not built to destroy whatever stood before it; it was built to overshadow it. |
