STRENGTHS
- Multiple Modular Hardpoints: The DC-01 features a number of modular hardpoints for its user to customize for his or her liking, allowing the use of a wide range of weapon attachments to be used on the rifle.
- Light: Compared its counterparts, the DC-01 is brilliantly made from lighter materials, making the rifle lighter than weapons similar to the rifle, allowing its operator to carry it with relative ease without considerable fatigue and/or encumbrance in long deployments.
- Powerful: This is one powerful blaster, put together by a half-Arkanian engineer who studied multiple models in order to create her own unique blaster. She went all out making this a potent blaster, in assault mode and especially in sniper mode.
- Robust: The durable materials used that went into the making of the DC-01 makes the weapon considerably strong against environmental hazards, assuring the rifle can function effectively in less favorable environmental conditions that would otherwise cause a lesser rifle to not function properly or breaking altogether.
- Sniper Rifle: Coupled with the powerful kick behind each shot and deadly accuracy when the rifle is in sniper mode, it can prove to be a devastating weapon in the hands of a capable individual.
- Sniper Charric Rounds: For the Sniper Rifle Mode of the weapon, the power cells are amplified and turned into Charric shots.
- Assault Rifle: While the blaster bolts on assault mode is not as powerful compared to the weapon's dreaded sniper mode, the volume of fire it provides more than makes up for its lessened power, making it a trustable weapon for closer range engagements for its user.
WEAKNESSES
- Swapping Weapon Modes: While in theory and practice it takes about a little over than five seconds to swap magazines and switching fire modes to accommodate the chosen weapon mode, it can prove to be too long in a combat situation where every second counts.
- No Charric For Assault Mode: The Charric amplification only works with the Sniper Mode of the Distant Chill. In Assault Mode, the ammunition is ordinary blaster bolts.
- High Maintenance: Firing the DC-01 in its sniper mode of the wears down the rifle's barrel at a considerable rate. As a result, constant care after each mission is necessary to keep the rifle at a well functioning state. Depending on the sustained use, the barrel of the rifle might be needed to swapped with a fresh barrel after a mission.
- Lack of Durability Against EMP/Ion: Materials providing protection against EMP and Ion based attacks and/or disruptions is not frequently used on the rifle, leaving it vulnerable to EMP and Ion based attacks and/or disruptions, causing the rifle to be no longer combat effective.
- No Stealth: Despite being a sniper rifle, this is a sniper rifle better fit for battle. The blaster bolts are perfectly loud and visible, just like a normal blaster. Thus, this is a poor weapon choice for sniping with stealth.
DESCRIPTION
A project stemming from numerous reverse engineerings and usages of several blaster rifles, Gwyneira Krayt wanted to make herself a unique rifle that personally fit her.
While she initially was aiming for just a sniper rifle, her mentor Kranak Vizsla suggested the more versatile idea of a blaster rifle that could switch between assault and sniper modes. Thus, the engineer got to work. She developed a rifle that with the switch of a mode and replacement of modulars, could switch between the two modes.
The sniper mode has a lower rate of fire, yet has longer range and more powerful shots. Meanwhile, the automatic mode has lower damage and range, but a faster rate per fire. The ability to switch between the two allows for flexibility and versatility in combat. This perfectly suits someone like Gwyn, a thinker who keeps her options open in combat.
The rifle, despite its beastly size, is made of light and compact materials. This allows for Gwyneira to not be overwhelmed and exhausted carrying a large and heavy weapon around. It suits her perfectly.
This weapon does have its downsides, however. It is a complex weapon in need of detailed care between battles, more likely to malfunction. On top of that, the rifle is not immune to Ion and EMP technology.
Despite being a sniper rifle, this blaster rifle's ammo is completely visible. As the Mandalorian yellow blaster bolts fire out, they can be heard ringing loud and clear as well. This is not a quiet weapon.
This rifle, titled The Distant Chill, or DC-01, is a one of a kind custom blaster rifle made by and for Gwyneira Krayt. A signature weapon on the battlefield, this is not a blaster to be triffled with.
