ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
- Living up to the name of the ship's class, the Dervish is exceedingly fast, capable of atmospheric speeds around 1,200 km/h.
- Aurelius had the Dervish modified with a SLAM system, allowing him to transfer power from unused systems, such as the laser cannons, to the engines, allowing the already fast ship to reach incredible speeds (albeit only in short bursts).
- The ship's regular shields have been replaced with Solar Ray Shielding, protecting it from solar ionization cannons in addition to typical starship weapons.
- The Dervish is severely lacking heavily in armaments, featuring only two turreted single laser cannons. Because of this, Baldor prefers to use the ship's speed to survive dogfights rather than firepower.
- When utilizing the SLAM system, all power is drained from the systems that would power the laser cannons, leaving the ship without weapons while using the system and while the cannons recharge.
- Overuse of the SLAM system can lead to engine and power core malfunctions or failures.
DESCRIPTION
The Dervish is a modified WR-542 Shooting Star and the personal transport of Aurelius Baldor, the Devaronian crime boss who leads the Shadow Hand Cartel. The Shooting Star on its own is already fairly fast, but the Dervish has been modified to further increase that potential. A SubLight Acceleration Motor has been added to the engines and power system to enable bursts of incredible speed, at the loss of the ship's firepower. Baldor also had the ship fitted with Solar Ray Shielding to protect it from ships utilizing solar ionization cannons, as well as an antishock field to provide smooth flights equivalent to luxury airspeeders. Overall, the Dervish is more similar to the Libertine than, say, the Millennium Falcon, being a luxury speedster rather than a powerhouse.
