The Deranged Dragon And The Shivvy (Rokh/DragonsFlame)

@[member="Naila Rokh"]

"Well, this karking sucks" the Jedi Council Member cracked as he surveyed his surroundings. This mission had gone wrong in a hurry. Himself and his close friend Naila Rokh were surrounded by pirates of all shapes and sizes. His lightsaber was out as he stood back to back with the Knight, the dark blue blade humming in the air as he waited for one of his adversaries to make the first move.

But allow me to give you a bit of backstory.

It had been a while since the last time Josh and Naila had seen one another... Having been sent out on many dangerous missions to clean up after the aftermath of the Jedi/Sith War on Metalorn, Josh was constantly off planet and didn't see much socialization. Couple that with his rather... Awkward reunion with his little brother, Nicholas DragonsFlame, who turned out to be a Sith Knight and had attacked himself and Saoirse Jenulia when the two had gone to Dantooine to destroy the simulation once and for all.

The simulation had been destroyed, but the mental scars remained. The youngest of the DragonsFlame clan lived, as a Sith of all people, and it was driving the Weaponmaster batty. Night after night, Josh would have hauntings of the hood being sliced off to reveal the icy blue eyes of his little brother, that overwhelming guilt of not being able to find him, believing he had been dead all these years, feeling like he had failed him by not being there to stop the Sith from taking him.

Then there was Asha Seren. A woman Josh had gotten to know very well during their many months undercover, resulting in a Force Bond being formed between the two close friends. Josh had become the uncle of hers and Tracyn Ordo's son, Kobe Ordo-Seren, and had become just as close with him as well. Of course, Asha had been murdered by the Sith during a raid on Coruscant, snapping the Force Bond in half and nearly killing DragonsFlame in the process. By some miracle, Josh had managed to survive, and in trying to cope had adopted Kobe as his own son, out of love and to save the souls of the both of them... With Tracyn having abandoned Kobe after Asha's death, it was the only thing Josh could do. But yet, Asha's death also haunted Josh's dreams, and the snapped force bond would sometimes come back to drive Josh to an incomparable depression.

Josh hadn't told Naila. But it was obvious the Jedi Knight was being bothered by something when they had met again. All Josh had told Naila since their last meeting was that he had been incredibly busy, and was currently being considered for promotion to Master. Meanwhile, Rokh had been having trouble getting noticed and promoted as she very well deserved. Pulling a few strings, Josh had gotten Rokh noticed by the Jedi Council, who had promoted her almost immediately upon seeing her years of contribution. Josh may have been solely responsible for Naila's promotion, but the credit, to him, was to her for her contributions. To him, she had deserved every bit of it, and it was LONG overdue...

Before the two could go out for dinner to celebrate, as Josh had planned to treat her with though, Naila had been issued a mission to deal with a gang of pirates that were causing problems on Coruscant. Having experience with the gangs himself, Josh had volunteered to accompany her.

Things had gone off without a hitch. They had cleared out the majority with their chemistry together, but not every plan goes without a hitch. Without realizing it, the two had suddenly become surrounded by reinforcements. With no way out in sight that wasn't blocked by pirates, the two would have to fight their way out.

Naila had indeed been worried about her human friend during their reunion after months of separation. When they had met up, she immediately knew something was wrong. She had gotten better at reading Force signatures since then, and his was... different. Almost as if there was a hole inside him.

And he looked tired. Preoccupied with something, though he declined to tell her. She didn't mind. The Shistavanen knew that he would tell her if he felt the need. The man had a more complicated past than anyone she'd ever met, and he'd shared much of it with her back when they were both Padawans.

As for their current situation, somewhere in the bowels of Coruscant's many levels, she concurred with the other Knight. <The hunter has become the hunted> She said in her species' gruff language of barks and growls before speaking in Basic. She looked into the eyes of the brigands that surrounded them. At least a score of them, she could see, and there were surely more in the surrounding passages and tunnels. She looked up at the hovercars that zipped by above them, and past that to the roof of the level of the city planet that they found themselves in. She held her shoto in a backhanded position across her body and her saber above her head, ready to strike. "So... how do you want to handle this one?" She asked the human to her back, her tail swishing back-and-forth.

Josh stared up at the hovercars that went above them...

".... I think I got this" Josh said. Clenching his fist, he focused on one of the speeders above....

Just a tiny bit, he pulled. Hard. Not too hard, as not to overshoot it, but enough to make the speeder make noises and lurch a bit, looking like it was going toward them.

The distraction scared the pants off the pirates, who let their guard down...

"NOW!" Josh shouted, as he fell upon several of the thugs, slashing through them without hesitation, taking out a few in a few strikes, before going after more, hoping to get them before they could recover...

Grinning at the clever opening, Naila took two long bounds into the enemy ranks, slashing diagonally with her lightsaber, bisecting a Rodian's blaster before delivering a crippling backhanded cut to his legs with the shoto. The thug would live, but he wouldn't be fighting anymore, she judged as he fell to the ground.

Deflecting blaster bolts from one who had recovered quickly from the distraction, she charged beneath the pirates' guard with lightning speed, cutting of hands and legs, but trying to kill as few as possible. But she couldn't avoid killing them all together. If one proved too difficult to incapacitate, she would kill them rather than risk them killing her. These pirates weren't the greatest fighters, but one lucky shot would end her just as easily as a skilled swordsman could.

Sudden;y a dark shadow fell over her from behind. The Jedi turned to find a brutish Gamorrean looming over her. She dove out of the way just as a heavy axe cleaved into the ground where she had just stood. Naila rolled deftly and rose into a crouch, brandishing her weapons at the pig with a growl. <Come on, meat. Show me what you've got> She barked. Lately, she'd been using her mother language much more frequently, as well as Basic and that old, dead language that she so enjoyed.

@[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"]

And as she barked those words, a foot came flying through the air as DragonsFlame superkicked the Gamorrean dead in the side of the mouth, the snap from his boot connecting with the ugly brute's face being able to be heard all around the area for miles. The green creature reeled and squealed as it started to lose it's balance, before Josh slashed it's side, taking down the large brute.

Josh patted his fellow Jedi Knight on the back with a grin, before backing up a bit, and then without warning reached into the Force as he ran towards her, leaping over Naila's head just in time to stab his lightsaber through a rodian who thought it wise to try and put a vibroblade through the back of the Knight's head. Lacking the mercy that he showed in traditional attacks, Josh pulled the lightsaber out of the Rodian's eye as it slumped to the ground, giving Naila a nod before standing back to back with her once again, his eyes gazing and darting desperately around them. The numbers of their enemies had been cleared very nicely, but they were still outnumbered, even if their morale was much smaller then when they had first attacked.

"Oi! That one was mine!" Naila protested with a playful frown. As the human dove over her, she rolled beneath him, deflecting blaster bolts as @[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] skewered her would-be assailant. She took stock of their situation, and was disturbed at what she saw. She had assumed they'd beaten enough of the enemy that the rest would've run off, but these guys weren't some amateur street gang.

More of the criminals were coming in. The reinforcements were eventually going to overwhelm them, as powerful as both Jedi were. She ducked behind a building pillar, yelling at Josh over the sound of fighting.

"We need to move!" She told him. They'd have to find a better position to fight from, maybe even call in help. But they were deep in the bowels of Coruscant, where even Republic soldiers had to watch their backs. Criminal syndicates were powerful down here, unlike up where a person could see the sun, or even in some of the levels below that.

The Weaponmaster nodded, rolling under a slash and rendering himself able to slash the side of his would-be assailant. Ducking down near Naila, he assessed the situation. This wasn't going to be easy, he could see that. By now, in a normal circumstance the enemies would have fled. But it seemed these ones were used to Jedi, and were getting a little ballsy.

"These guys are more persistent then a Sith plant woman in heat!" Josh joked, knowing Naila probably wouldn't get the reference unless the Knight had done her share of studying. Their positioning was terrible. They were outnumbered, outgunned, and they were in a place where they could be shot at easily. They needed a way to be able to take a good chunk of these guys, and quickly.

And then he saw it. A crane, used by the gang they had targeted. This would be a daunting task, even for a member of the Jedi Council. But if he had faith in himself... Faith in the Force....

"Hold them off!" he commanded, the natural leader traits that DragonsFlame had developed since returning to the temple and meeting Naila showing in full living color as he issued orders like a commander in the Republic military would, with ease and confidence. The pirates kept shooting at them, and Josh had nearly been hit several times. Hopefully, with the order he had given the girl, she would be able to deflect the bolts away from himself and her while he focused.

This wasn't going to be easy, he thought to himself. The crane must have weighed several tons... But bigger miracles had been pulled off before. His mind went to the stories of Luke Skywalker, the former Grandmaster of the Jedi Order several millennium ago, who had been said to have been able to move an X-Wing while it was stuck in the swamps of Dagobah while he was still in training. If a Padawan, even one as powerful in the Force as the in training Skywalker was, could pull something like that off....

Still, Josh knew he wouldn't be able to just pull the entire crane out of it's spot and into their opponents. No, he'd have to find something that was keeping it steady, rip it out and let gravity instead take their foes. But even that would take time and effort, and Josh would not be able to continue fighting during it.

After issuing the order to Naila, Josh kneeled down, closing his eyes as he felt through the Force. He searched his senses, trying to find a weak spot in the crane's structure....

And then he found it. The Weaponmaster gave a big smile as he found a spot weaker then the others. He immediately focused all his power on trying to rip it out... As the pirates were distracted by shooting at himself and Naila, Josh hopefully would be able to pull it out and send the crane tumbling onto their foes... But only if Naila could keep him from getting shot first.

The Shistavanen nodded at Josh's order with determination. Her friend had become a leader in his tour of duty, serving alongside fighters from the Republic probably exponentially more times than she had, though her own exploits were becoming more and more large scale. She trusted his command and proceeded to cover him as he made his way to a menacing looking piece of machinery: A construction crane. After a split second of thought between batting away any blaster fire that came close to either her or her comrade, she smiled a mischievous smile. She believed that she understood what the crazy human was about to do. DragonsFlame, you madman, she thought to herself, resisting the urge to laugh at the destruction that was about to unfold. In teh chaos, they should be able to get away and figure out their next course of action.

Soresu, as a combat form, wasn't her strongest form, but it was a close second. As their enemies lined up behind cover, firing unorganized volleys at the two Jedi, her twin blades were a blur of green as she deflected about a third of them back at their owners. The rest of the rounds simply flew past them both,. The key to Soresu was tight bladework to provide the most defensive coverage. She only needed to worry about what she sensed would hit them, not every bolt that whizzed by. As @[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] knelt in front of the crane, she stood a few feet behind his back, holding the enemy off.

“Whatever you're gonna do, do it fast!” She shouted. Hoping to scatter some of the enemy, she Force lifted a crate off the floor nearby, hurling it into their midst. A few pirates dove out of the way, and one was bowled over with a snap of broken bones. Probably an arm or some ribs, she guessed, but no real damage was done.

And with that distraction by @[member="Naila Rokh"], DragonsFlame had time to focus. Without blasters pelting into his head, Josh was able to feel for the weak spot once again, pulling at it with all his might using the Force.

Hearing Naila shout something, Josh couldn't make out exactly what it was. He was too absorbed in his focus on the crane's weak point to acknowledge the words of the Knight. Finally, they could both hear something snap in the crane, something the pirates did not as they continued to fire at the Shistavanen.

Finally, the noises got louder, and all of a sudden something in the center of the platform holding the crane snapped. What ensued could be described as pure destruction on the part of the experienced Jedi Weaponmaster. The crane, the platform, everything holding it together suddenly came apart, gravity finally doing it's job as the entire thing came collapsing onto the pirates. Any that weren't squashed by the crane were instead squashed by the rubble that had come crashing down upon being torn from it's original place by the falling crane.

The destruction, even if just tearing off a weak point and letting gravity do it's work, scared any pirates remaining that were planning to come in as reinforcements. They could hear screams as their enemies fled to locations unknown, likely not to cross the Republic or the Jedi again.

Josh dusted himself off as he looked over at the Knight. And as he sat up, he gave her a big goofy grin. "Victory" he finally said, laughing a bit as he cracked his neck. It had been a hard fight, but they had successfully neutralized another gang in Coruscant's underbelly. Sadly, this might be one of their last missions doing this kind of work on Coruscant...

The Shistavanen blew a strand of fiery orange hair from in front of her face as the rubble cleared, giving @[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] a raised eyebrow. She deactivated her weapons as the human stood. At his grin, she rolled her eyes with a wry grin.

"Showoff," She said, walking past him to the stump of the crane, examining the damage. "Sugoi," she muttered, seeing the warped and torn scraps of metal. "I'll admit one thing," She said, hands on her hips, "You seem to have gotten better at destroying things." She tapped her wrist mounted commlink. After a moment, a holographic image of a Republic trooper appeared. "Captain, we've taken down most of the Thousand Eyes boys, but you guy's may have to mop up the rest of them."

"Copy that, Knight Rokh. We appreciate the help." The soldier said before ending the call. Naila smiled at their success. With their help, the streets of Coruscant would be a little safer. The Thousand Eyes syndicate would take a long long time to recover from this loss. She inclined her head to Josh. "So, what now chief?" They still had some time left before they had to report in, and this was probably going to be their last mission for a while.

Josh chuckled at her comments. "I love you too" he snarked as he gave her a playful nudge. Examining their handiwork, Josh gave a whistle. They had certainly done a hell of a job at this.

Walking with her, he grinned at the second comment. "I do what's necessary" he responded. "If pulling down a crane to scare off an army of thugs saves lives and keeps Coruscant safe, then it's what I do" he said with a shrug.

Josh folded his arms on Naila's shoulder as she contacted the trooper, resting his chin on his arms as he let her do the briefing. It was her mission after all. Josh had just come along for the ride to give his friend the rub. Being on the Jedi Council, Josh didn't get the fun missions as much anymore. Especially not after Contruum.

As she ended the transmission, he straightened himself and looked at her, and smiled at her question. "Why don't I take you out somewhere?" the Jedi offered casually. Naila had done good, and they had some catching up to do anyways. The least he could do was take his friend out to a restaurant or something to take a load off.

"There's a good place near the Golden Jawa" he said. "They serve good meat. I've gone there every once in awhile" he said with a smile.

"That and... Well, there's something we might need to talk about" he admitted.

The Knight's expression brightened at the invitation. "You make a convincing argument," she replied, fantasizing over a nice big steak. However at the man's final statement, she grew curious. The manner in which Josh spoke made it seem as though something troubled him. "Well alright then," Naila said, nudging the human back. "Let's go."

After a few short minutes, they had returned to the more populated streets of lower Coruscant, the crowds ebbing and flowing like waves of numerous miniature seas as they navigated their way through the mass. The young woman contemplated her current situation as they walked. A year, even a few months ago, @Joshua DragonsFlame's offer would have reddened her face from embarrassment or inability to respond. But she'd grown used to regular interactions with others, at least other Jedi. She was still a bit mute around some people, but not nearly as bad as she used to be.

The Shistavanen smiled, swishing her tail a s she walked. She was pleased with how far she'd come, both as a Jedi and as a person. She turned her attention to the human. "So, what's this place called, eh?" She asked cheerfully.

He smiled a bit as they walked. He had seen her face brighten up at the mention of the restaurant. He knew about Naila's love for steak, and he too was a big fan. He figured it'd be the best treat for her.

"It's called The Big Steakement" he said, laughing a bit. "Stupid name, but at least you know what their speciality is" he snarked.

And he seemed to be right. They reached a building with a giant steak for a sign, reading "The Big Steakment". The place still looked classy regardless on the inside, evidenced as when they went inside, Josh holding the door open for his Jedi Knight companion with a slight smile.

"Shivvys first" Josh joked with a grin.

"Tch, bakahito," Naila said jokingly, swatting the human's side with her tail. She found a table discreetly, ignoring some of the odd looks people were giving her. Whether it was because of her species or because of her being a Jedi, which was almost as obvious given her green Moro Dashi robes. Either way, she'd grown used to it. Shistavanen didn't usually frequent public places like this, especially without others of their kind.

Ignoring the handful of looks, she slid into the booth, straightening her kama. "Glad I don't usually wear a cloak with this thing," she muttered, looking through a menu.

"So, Josh, how goes it? I hear you have a Padawan yourself already?" She probed, raising an eyebrow. She thought she'd start off the conversation and allow the human to segway into whatever it was he wanted to talk about.

He smirks, giving her rump a slight nudge with his knee in retaliation as they walked in. The ones who had given her dirty looks were met with a powerful glare from the Jedi, which made them shrink back. He slid into the booth and looked at the menu, shooting her a slight smile at her crack about the robes.

At her question, he looked back up at her.

And with that, he chuckled.

"Naila... You haven't spoken to me enough" he said with a laugh. "I've taken in quite a few actually. Keel Antel, Gherron Vael. Reiko Ike. Orihime Ike. Zooki O'Dar. Cirk Voltjak and Marek S'hader are my graduates" he said, smirking. "I have quite the track record. You should try and come see me more often"

The Shistavanen balked at the list of Padawans that Josh had already taken. Not only that, but they'd all been graduated to Knights! With that, her face did redden a bit, but she played it off, placing one hand behind her head. "W-wow, I had no idea, heheh. Y'know, with bein' on missions all the time and... yeah. I haven't been it touch very much lately."

A serving droid came over as she spoke and greeted them with a chipper female voice. "Welcome to the Big Steakment. Our special today is a Shaak porterhouse." Distracted from their conversation, Naila ran a finger down the menu, looking for something that had previously caught her eye. "Yes, give me a Reek ribeye, medium rare." She handed the droid her menu and looked to @[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"], curious what he would order. It occurred to her that she'd never eaten much with the human. Or any human outside of the Temple canteen. She wondered what they preferred. She knew well enough that Nautolans preferred fish to most meats, and Master Drel ate a lot of greens, but she didn't believe that Mattias Green was anything to go by with human diet. The man insisted on eating almost nothing but freeze dried meals and energy drinks.

Though she misunderstood him, only Cirk and Marek had graduated, the others remained Padawans... It was still an impressive group class under DragonsFlame. He enjoyed teaching them after all and was always devising new plans to improve their lessons.

He smiled a bit, putting a hand on her shoulder. "Relax, you didn't know" he said, smirking. "We do need to see each other more often though"

And then the serving droid came along and he shot them a smile. "Just a steak, please. Some fries on the side as well. As for the steak... Medium well, please" he asked politely. When they were asked about drinks, Josh scratched his beard for a moment before replying with "Cola, please"

Once the droid had left, Josh smiled at Naila. "So how have you been?" He asked. "What've you been up to since I suggested you for Knighthood?"

"Well, a few missions that I'm allowed to talk about, and one or two that I'm not," She grinned slyly. "I've decided to walk the path of a Sentinel, as I said so long ago." She said. "But you already knew that," she patted the twin sabers at her hips.

She then held up a hand, counting off on clawed fingers, "I built a couple of droids to help me... well... build droids. I've started browsing for a ship, since I'm a Knight and all. I've started a couple new training routines and, oh! I finally learned how to whistle." She crossed her arms triumphantly. "Speaking of droids, how's Kaiden been taking the upgrades?"

He chuckled a bit. "And it fits you like a glove" he responded, giving her a slight smile. Indeed, the path fit her, and she knew it. They both did.

"Kaiden?" he asked. "Ah, he's been chugging along just fine. I haven't been off planet as much so he's getting mighty antsy. Makes me think he might steal the Dragon and go for a joyride to sate his lust for adventure" he joked with a laugh. "I wouldn't put it past him after all. But otherwise, the upgrades are great, I thank you for that. Now if only we could have fixed the sarcasm" he cracked with a grin. "Jesting, of course... It's part of his charm. He got it from me. Being stuck with me a few years will do that" he snarked.

"Yknow... One day we should build a droid together" he said, smirking faintly. "Could be fun, and I'm sure if we put our knowledge together we could make magic together" he jested. "Well, maybe not magic, but certainly something useful out of scraps and parts" he added.

"Oh you know I'd never mess with the little bucket's head. And you'd never have it any other way either."

"That does sound like fun though," Naila replied wholeheartedly to the human's suggestion. "Maybe we could try our hands at making a training droid." she saw the image in her mind of the humanoid machines able to wield lightsabers with the grace and skill of a Master or the clumsiness and simplicity of a Padawan.

Just then their food came in. Naila's eyes lit up at the sight of the steaming slab of Reek meat. as she stabbed into the steak, she spoke matter-of-factly. "Did you know that in gladiator arenas, they'd feed these things meat in order to make them more aggressive." It interested her, in a biological sort of way. Morally, it was disturbing, but that was beside the point.
