The Darkness Likes Me

Vallory shrugged. In some ways it was a hindrance, like how her Vahla blood gave her frail bones. And [member="Vanessa Vantai"] then spoke of how she barely remember her own family, as she had been a slave to pirates. Slavers, how she hated them. Her hands curled into fists in her lap. She turned to the hyperspace around them as well, and giggled while also relaxing her hands. "Don't worry about me, that won't happen." She paused, then spoke again, "The pirates...did you get revenge?"

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
[member="Vallory"]

"What kind of self-respecting Sith Lord would I be if I didn't get revenge? I mean, really, the story behind every single Sith who was a slave at some point inevitably turns into "well, once we got powerful, we hunted down the person who tormented us earlier in our life and killed, enslaved, or otherwise tormented them as recompense." Seriously, I don't like talking about it because of how often it is. You could open the pages of any Sith history book and probably find that part of my life in someone else's."

She sighed. "I'm sorry. We're just so... so typical." Vanessa said. "Everything seems to flow together. There's little to no uniqueness within the Sith. It seems we all come from a similar walk of life." Her eyes turned back to the corpse. "Take our dear friend here. His entire life was one of violence and destruction, battling other warlords until he became Dark Lord of the Sith. And of course he died the usual way - getting stabbed in the back by his apprentice."

How typical.

Vallory thought about that. There had been a few who had wronged her in the past. And no doubt she would get back at them if she ever came across them again. "I have not taken revenge on anyone..." she murmured to [member="Vanessa Vantai"] quietly. But perhaps one day...If it had happened to almost every Sith then she no doubt would. She glanced to the corpse once Vanessa looked to it and spoke of his life. Was that something Sith were known to do? Be killed by their apprentice?

She paused for a long moment, staring at the corpse... "Is that what you expect from me?"

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
"I don't expect you to be stupid, that's for sure." She said. "Always remember that just because there is an opportunity for revenge against those who have wronged you, it may not necessarily be the best time to do things." Vanessa pondered. "If the person you're going after is as powerful, if not more powerful than you, you need something to help you. Or someone." Her own past experiences had indicated such to her at the least. "Just remember to form good relationships with Sith and outsiders. It's going to be critical later down the line when you become a Sith Lord - well, if you survive."

She considered more as to what best to say - she didn't want Vallory to follow her mistakes, after all.

[member="Vallory"]

Vallory gave off a short quick laugh. Of course she did not think to be stupid. She did not plan on acting stupid, even if she had already done plenty of stupid things before. She was just too stubborn sometimes. The young Vampirika smiled at all the advice [member="Vanessa Vantai"] was giving. Vallory didn't know much about them, but by what Vanessa said about apprentices stabbing their masters in the back...it made her wonder if all were this generous with advice to their apprentices.

As she sat there, she began to grow impatience upon glancing upon the mummified corpse. "How much longer must I see that thing for..."

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
“A corpse like this is a valuable asset, Vallory.” Vanessa answered. “Sorzus Syn once wrote that dead tissue is easier to work with than live tissue because it cannot resist the changes of alchemical processes.” She answered. “I recommend getting used to such things - because creating undead monstrosities will be a part of your training.”

She thought for a moment. “Patience is key of the Sith. Our decisions, while emotion-supported in nature, are not purely emotional. Logic and reason are key. Again, Patience.”

[member="Vallory"]

Vallory pouted a bit. Making more of these...these things? And patience? Well that was something she could at least go along with for the time being, just not when it had stuff to do with a corpse. "I'll try to get used to it...Just normally I prefer to toy with living things, not dead things." She started twirling about her saber to get by, now avoiding any glances towards the corpse. "What did you make last time?" She assumed that [member="Vanessa Vantai"] had done this before.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
"Something truly horrific." She said. "All I can say." Vanessa did not want to think about things - she had wished to move away from being who she once was, instead building a new life around who she was now. "You will be starting with dead things before moving to live things. Unfortunately you are not exactly the most skilled - which is why we have to do this instead of giving you live test subjects." She sighed. Apprentices were so difficult to make.

And even more difficult to adequately train.

[member="Vallory"]

Vallory remained most curious. Something horrific, was it? Her imagination wandered, and her mind was filled with disgust at what grotesque images it came up with. She shook her head, clearing herself of them. She sighed, a little bit loud and somewhat out of boredom. Despite what [member="Vanessa Vantai"] said about patience and despite it having been barely a minute ago, she was losing it again already.

They would finally land on Malachor V, within the great pit where the Cyracuse-class Drone Carrier once sat. Once exiting, Vanessa would motion for Vallory to take the repulsorsled and push it towards the direction they were soon walking. She pondered over the series of circumstances - there truthfully weren't many things that could be done with the corpse of Tulak Hord, aside from creating the abomination she intended.

"Ah, we're here. Home sweet home." She smiled.

Vallory had waited for quite a bit, and finally they had arrived to the planet of Malachor V. The Vampirika stepped off, taking the repulsorlift once more for [member="Vanessa Vantai"] and began pushing it along with them. She looked to Vanessa as she spoke of this place as 'Home sweet home'. "So, where are we headed now?" she asked to Vanessa. "Where are we doing this?"

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
[member="Vallory"]

"The central laboratory." She cracked her knuckles. "The main place where we can do this." She replied eagerly. Now it would be time to determine what exactly to do with this entire situation. "This entire facility was a former academy used to train Sith thousands of years ago. Of course it was just being wasted - so I rehabilitated it and gave it some new purpose. And now I call it home." She said.

Vanessa did love a familiar place, after all.

Vallory moved with her master, still pushing the repulsorlift with the mummified corpse on it. "A laboratory. Perfect for dastardly experiments, if I say so myself" she said, with a fanged grin. [member="Vanessa Vantai"] said it was home again. Was this truly her home? "So you live here?" Certainly was something. She wondered if, being her apprentice that Vallory would stay here from time to time. No doubt she would.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
"I do." She said. "At least officially. In reality, I'm more of a wandering rogue." Vanessa wasn't lying - her visits to the Malachor laboratory were growing more and more infrequent. Eventually, they would accomplish their goal - create Sith Undead of a monstrous type. As they proceeded onwards, Vallory would soon understand more about being a Sith apprentice - there was much to learn, after all.

So they would continue onwards.
