The Commonwealth [Faction Ad/Extended Edition]

This is the extended (and updated) version of the Commonwealth faction ad. If you want a shorter version, click here [x]. Consider this the Commonwealth Encyclopedia. If you are interested in joining the faction or want to ask some questions, our faction Skype is here [x]. This thread took two and a half hours to write and research. It's not complete, but it's as good as it is going to get for now. It will be updated in the future. Enjoy.

“When I die, please bury me deep!
Place a '101 down by my feet!
Don't cry for me, don't shed no tear!
Just pack my box with PT gear!
'Cuz early one morning 'bout zero five!
The ground will rumble, there'll be lightning in the sky!
Don't you worry, don't come undone!
It's just my ghost on a PT run!”

The Commonwealth
The Commonwealth, or CW, is the name of the central stratocratic government that administers the colonies originating from the Cadi System, including but not limited to Alexandria, Gannaria & G'rho. The Commonwealth acts a border nation between the Unknown Regions, Wild Space and the Outer Rim Territories. Its closest neighbors are the First Order, Galactic Alliance, the Swarm and the Iron Empire.

Formation
The Commonwealth was founded during a civil war within the Cadi System. Following ten-thousand years of rule by the Kingdom of Alexandria, a noble-led rebellion broke out among the lower class and the navy. Without space capabilities, the Kingdom of Alexandria was subject to intense orbital bombardment until the Kingdoms army finally admitted surrender and joined the insurrectionists. The Kingdom of Alexandria began to lose footholds on key planets in the Cadi System, along with Alexandria itself.

By the end of the war the aristocrats of the Kingdom of Alexandria were offered a number of choices, from life imprisonment to exile into the Unknown, many would be executed. After the Kingdom staged a final assault on Alexandria that would ultimately fail against the stalwart defense of Horus' fleet, the king was executed by firing squad. The location of the kings remains are highly classified and unknown to civilians and most military personnel. With the death of the king, the final branch of the Kingdoms military surrendered, that being the Intelligence Bureau.

The next decade would become a heated civil war that would ultimately push remaining monarchy-loyalists out of the Cadi system and into the surrounding planetary systems such as Kayri III. With the noble-loyal remnants fleeing the Cadi System, the Commonwealth was born under the leadership of three military chiefs from Army, Navy and Intelligence. This leadership is known as the Commonwealth Security Council [CSC]. The military branches would later be renamed as the Commonwealth Marine Corps [CMC], Commonwealth Navy [CN] and Commonwealth Naval Intelligence [CNI].

Despite an official declaration of victory over the Kingdom, the civil war would continue to rage on as a silent war. Now known as insurgents, these rebels against the Commonwealth would be led by Robert the Strong from a yet-unknown stronghold far in the Unknown Regions. Due to the Commonwealths control on corporations in the Cadi System, the media does not report on the civil war. Only a small handful of resources are dispatched to quell the insurgents.

The nature of the construction industry in the Commonwealth allowed a rapid expansion into the Unknown, quickly establishing colonies on Gannaria and G'rho. Construction is performed by pre-fabricated inter-locking pieces. With over-population threatening the Cadi System, many citizens of the Commonwealth would quickly move into these frontier cities with hopes of achieving wealth in the booming mining and starship construction industries.

The rise of the Commonwealth was not unnoticed, and with enemies on every corner the Commonwealth was forced to enter the galactic political arena. They were quickly seen as a fascist dictatorship from outside governments despite their attempts of goodwill. They would quickly gain favor among the Galactic Alliance, the Mandalorian clans and the Silver Jedi, despite cultural differences.

As though triggered by the expansion of the Commonwealth, chaos quickly followed in the Unknown Regions. With the mysterious disappearance of the CRS Jade Rabbit over Kayri III, as well as a short-lived skirmish against the Black Sun Syndicate on Iskeria. Come the end of these engagements, the Omega Events began to unfold. Despite a small naval force comparative to major galactic powers, the Commonwealth would join other governments both in space and on the ground to combat the rogue Sith.

The Commonwealths biggest decision since their founding was during the waning hours of the battle. Following the devastation of the First Order fleet, and despite their political differences, the Commonwealth peeled away from their agreement with the Mandalorians in favor of performing a dangerous rescue mission amidst the battle against the Omega, saving countless lives of First Order military personnel. Despite threats from the Mandalorian clans, no action against the Commonwealth has taken place.

Primordial War

The emergence of the Swarm had devastating effects on Commonwealth colonies. The parasite-like hivemind of the Swarm began to assimilate the Vaagari species that would result in the Vaagari fleeing the Unknown Regions from the Swarm. First contact with this Vaagari exodus occurred only hours after Gulandi pirates had ransacked G'rho upon following the uncompleted Blood Trail hyperlane. The Vaagari discovered Gannaria and found that the Swarm had already begun to assimilate its population, the Vaagari would proceed to torch population centers on Gannaria.

The Commonwealth would not discover the reason for the Vaagari culling the population of Gannaria, but CNI was able to locate the fleet involved in the attack and chased them as far as Cerea before intercepting them. The following hours resulted in a three-way free-for-all fleet and ground engagement between the Commonwealth, Vaagari and Swarm. As the battle rages on, reports are streaming in that more nations in the Unknown Regions are fleeing, and they too are ransacking frontier Commonwealth colonies as they escape towards the Core.

Branches
The Commonwealth and its military is divided into three branches, the Marine Corps, Navy and Naval Intelligence. Alongside these branches are sub-branches belonging to each of the three central branches. Military personnel can be identified by a unique ten-digit number followed by the first letter of their first and last name. The Security Council is represented by all three major branches, although it is often considered by most Commonwealth civilians and military personnel that the navy holds the most amount of power in terms of military power, corporate ownership and political sway.

The Commonwealth Marine Corps, formerly the Commonwealth Army, serves the Commander-in-Chief who co-acts as the army's representative on the Commonwealth Security Council. The Marine Corps was formerly separate from the navy but was recently assimilated into the navy to provide a more mobile defense force. It is a vast network of battalions spanning tens of millions of soldiers. Their numbers are extreme and they're known for their adaptability and proficiency in guerrilla warfare. While walkers are rare, light assault vehicles, tanks and artillery are the staple of the army.

The Commonwealth Navy is spearheaded by the Lord of Admirals who co-acts as the Navy's representative on the Commonwealth Security Council. The navy's largest fleet is known as Home Fleet under the command of the Lord of Admirals, the Home Fleet is tasked with the defense of the Commonwealths capital planet and home system. The Home Fleet has never left the capital system as this would place the national security of the Commonwealth in a position of jeopardy. The remainder of the navy's fleet is comprised primarily of warship battlegroups that scour the borders of the Commonwealth for intrusions, and in times of war they will be tasked with invading foreign soil and assisting the Marine Corps to secure the nations borders.

The Naval Intelligence operations are regulated and run by the Intelligence Director who co-acts as the Intelligence Bureau's representative on the Commonwealth Security Council. The Naval Intelligence sector is tasked with rooting out threats inside and outside the Commonwealth. Typically seen as cold and mysterious, they have been known to even make the top military brass uncomfortable in their presence. Their missions are top secret, with resources at their disposal in every military division. They're the constant shadow that protects the Commonwealth, silent and unseen.

The sub-branches of the Commonwealth consists of the Colonial Militia, foreign regiments from frontier colonies that are administrated by the Marine Corps. The Colonial Militia are as varied as the planets they come from and do not have the same regulations as the major military branches, but they are also self-funded and self-dependent. Due to this Colonial Militia will often wear personal armor and blasters. They're primarily used in the defense of their own planets but have been used to defend other colony planets in the past.

Commonwealth Shock Troopers, CST, are a sub-branch in the Navy. They're elite all-round soldiers that are used for long-range reconnaissance, unconventional warfare and small-scale offensives. They're most notable for clearing landing zones for the Marine Corps by being deployed from high-orbit in single-occupant drop pods. The CST branch have been most notable for being deployed during the Omega events and the defense of Cerea. Despite high fatality rates of drop pod occupants, the Commonwealth continues to utilize this uncertain technology. They regularly work in joint-operations with Navy and Naval Intelligence

Last is the Jaguar Program of Section Zero. Prior to the Netherworld events and the disappearance of the former head of Intelligence, the Director had been researching into a super-soldier program to combat the 'space magic' of Force Orders across the galaxy. She saw them as a threat to the security of the Commonwealth but her plans had not yet been addressed to the Security Council. After the Netherworld and Horus was temporarily left with the sole mantle of leadership of the Commonwealth, he independently investigated Naval Intelligence. Horus had known of Section Zero, what he did not know was of extreme cybernetic experimentation performed by Naval Intelligence on military volunteers, as well as Morris Munitions involvement in powersuits. While the program was scrapped due a lack of room in the budget, Horus restarted the program to ensure the safety of the Commonwealth.

Technology
The Commonwealth utilizes archaic albeit effective technologies. The military is best known for its regulation slugthrowers and wheel-based vehicles. While blasters are an all-round great weapon, the Commonwealth prefers the benefits of the slugthrower despite its drawbacks. These include the lack of an identifiable blaster trail, when used with a silencer and a flash suppressor, Commonwealth soldiers can become all but invisible in combat, this results in enemies finding it difficult to locate from which direction they're being fired upon.

The MARV is one of the most iconic vehicle series in the Commonwealth manifest. It is a four-wheeled ground-based vehicle that is mostly open-aired. With an incredibly powerful engine and a fifty-caliber turret emplacement on its rear tray, the MARV has proven to be incredibly frightening when chasing down enemy combatants. Due to the galactic standard on technology, these ground-based vehicles are rarely and almost never seen by enemy combatants and will take them by surprise. MARVs alone have caused retreats when the enemy are faced with these powerful beasts.

The most modern technology of the Commonwealth is in the vast fleet, comprised of mostly small capital ships with newer models as large as one-thousand-eight-hundred meters. To keep up with advancing technology the Commonwealth has slowly begun to hire outside companies to work in the Cadi system to help develop the fleet. Alongside the ongoing developments of the fleet are researches in AI development and powersuits by Morris Munitions.

Economy
Under the reign of the Kingdom of Alexandria, the Cadi system was isolated for ten-thousand years. As such the primary trade conducted within the Commonwealth is on Alexandria, with the capital city of Mandurah Harbor serving as the Commonwealths economic center. The primary trade for Commonwealth corporations are in the mining industry to the Commonwealth military, with other major trades in the fields of agriculture.

Relations
Following the Omega events, the Commonwealth has been threatened by members of the Mandalorian clans for lacking honor in their actions of separating from the Mandalorian fleet to aid in First Order rescue missions. Although these actions were controversial among Commonwealth military personnel the general agreement is that it was indeed the right thing to do. Ironically to Mandalorian claims that the Commonwealth lacks honor, the Commonwealth has been praised by major political powers as not only honorable but righteous in their attempts to save lives of a nation that up until then had been seen as a possible enemy.

The actions of the Commonwealth has resulted in military personnel of the Commonwealth being invited to an awards ceremony in First Order space to commemorate their efforts to save the lives of First Order navy personnel. Alongside this sudden and unexpected blooming friendship between the Commonwealth and First Order, the Galactic Alliance has remained in talks with the Commonwealth over treaties and possible military agreements. Commenor has also thrown their lot in with the Commonwealth, inviting the Commonwealth to establish a military outpost on the planet.

The Commonwealth considers the Vaagari, Swarm and Silver Jedi to be hostile to the national security of the Commonwealth. The Silver Jedi had initially attempted a treaty and military agreement with the Commonwealth. Part of this was the Commonwealths involvement in quelling a Sith rebellion. During miscommunication between Silver Jedi naval forces, Korriban was bombarded from orbit. The bombardment had killed tens of thousands of lives in an instant, along with them had been Sith, Jedi and Commonwealth marines. The Commonwealth immediately pulled out of the engagement and condemned the actions of the Silver Jedi Order.

We write for story, but most of all for fun and enjoyment! Our faction is ever evolving and refining as we grow with a great idea to build upon. Help us develop the Commonwealth today!

  • We have immediate openings in the Navy as ship crewmen (officers and enlisted), pilots, and mechanics.
  • The Marine Corps can always use more brave and dutiful men and women to be our frontline shock troopers (officers and enlisted).
  • Intelligence is wide open be it a spook or slicer.
  • Medical professionals are needed as well.
  • Optional… Think out of the box where one might fit into a militaristic, NFU-centric group as support personnel either aboard our capital ships or at our ground bases, or even as a civilian contributing.

Have pertinent questions for the faction, please don't hesitate to ask either here or PM any of our faction admins: [member="Horus"], [member="Jen"], [member="Corrax Talrus"]

Or better yet, stop by the Commonwealth faction forum here and introduce yourself! We'd love to meet you and help get you started as an active member of the Commonwealth. :)
