SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Grappling Hook - One of numerous "arrows" that can be fitted to the Spitter Utility Bow is a grappling hook consisting of a verikast spearhead with a thin chain coiled against the butt of the spearhead inside the Spitter's magazine. Up to fifteen meters of chain can be coiled inside the bow's magazine. When fired, the grappling hook is launched outwards until it hits a target or reaches the limits of its chain. In the case of the latter, the chain can be pulled back into the Spitter via a small crank on the right of the Spitter's structure. The weight limit of an individual grappling hook is 1500 kg. Among the Draelvasier, any Sraelvun, all but the heaviest of Aeravalin, and most Baedurin can safely utilize the Spitter's grappling hook function with normal armor and armaments.
STRENGTHS
  • It's Spider-Man! - With a grappling hook equipped, the Spitter Utility Bow can turn a normally bulky Draelvasier into an agile operative capable of climbing all but the steepest of surfaces. In fact, a group of Zealots involved in an assassination mission were able to scale a hundred meter tall wall at a 90 degree angle in two minutes using only dual wield Splitters.
  • Multi-Purpose - The Spitter Utility Bow can fit a wide variety of hollow or filled arrows into its magazine, making it useful for various tasks.
  • Pocket Crossbow - Light and easy to handle, the Spitter Utility Bow can be handled with minimal training by almost any class and subspecies of Draelvasier.
  • Arc Fire - Since the Spitter Utility Bow fires arrows that are large and slow enough to be modified notably by gravity, skilled archers can fire the Utility Bow's arrows in a vertical arc to reach over and behind solid barriers in areas where gravity is present.
WEAKNESSES
  • Low Power - Most ammunition fired from the Spitter Utility Bow is not exceptionally good at killing enemy infantry. As a sidearm, its arrows are even weaker than that of an ancient crossbow.
  • Gravity Is A Jerk - As large, solid projectiles, the arrows of the Spitter Utility Bow has a low arrow speed and relatively low range in celestial bodies and vessels with gravity, making handguns and infantry-held firearms much more useful for long range engagements.
  • Weight Limit: Heavy - While the weight of most Draelvasier can be held up by the Spitter's grappling hook, heavier members of the Baedurin subspecies of Draelvasier are often restricted from using the Spitter's hook due to their sheer mass.
DESCRIPTION

The Spitter Utility Bow is a multipurpose utility sidearm designed to grant Draelvasier extra flexibility in battle.
After years of constant warfare, it was determined that the large forms of the Draelvasier made agile movements and rapid switching of weapons difficult. Additionally, individual unit designations such as Brutes and Shamen often lacked diverse armaments and ammunition. The Spitter was designed to solve such a problem - providing a utility weapon available to nearly all Draelvasier units that allows for increased versatility.

Often seen as a combination of a crossbow and a pistol, the Spitter's small size and light weight allows for it to be easily mass produced and carried into battle. The Spitter's name comes from the sound made when an arrow is released from the magazine, which resembles the spitting noise of a Draelvasier. It can fire hollow verikast arrows or arrows filled with various destructive or elemental substances.

The Spitter is favored among Zealots and Shamen, as it allows them to perform their wide variety of tasks with greater efficiency. Secretly, the Spitter is also utilized and respected by the Enforcers of the
Tachael-Vemnak, the secret policing arm of the Bryn'adûl, for its versatility and ease of concealment. Vemnak Enforcers will often load fire or cyro charges into the arrows of their Spitters when performing assassinations to take advantage of elemental weaknesses in some Draelvasier subspecies.
