GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Organization Name: The Tachael-Vemnak
  • Classification: Secret Policing Force
  • Affiliation: The Bryn’adul
  • Organization Symbol:
    image0-23.jpg
  • Description: The Tachael-Vemnak are the secret police of the Bryn’adul, unheard of by the public but the worst nightmare of any traitorous individual. Led by a council of Overseers, the Enforcers of the Tachael-Vemnak are tasked with infiltrating the ranks of Bryn’adul civil and military divisions and maintaining their orthodoxy through any means necessary. When a heresy is confirmed, an Enforcer will silently arrive and eliminate its source quietly and without witness. To achieve such means, Enforcers are well-trained in anti-Bryn’adul combat measures. Their typical armaments include long-range Barad Spiker rifles, high-agility melee combat forms, and injections of low and high temperature substances to cripple Baedurin and Aeravalin respectively.
GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: Xaeldrask (capital city of Draemidus Prime)
  • Domain: The Tachael-Vemnak has jurisdiction over all worlds conquered by the Byrn’adul within its own set of tasks.
  • Notable Assets: The Tachael-Vemnak tend to utilize hidden and abandoned spaces in Byrn’adul constructs to hold meetings and classes. Overseers tend to establish more permanent headquarters in classified locations.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Hierarchy:
    • Order of Enforcers - Summary:
      • The Order of Enforcers is a simplified system of authority set up by the Overseers to determine the standing of an individual within the ranks of the Enforcers.
    • Order of Enforcers - Unit Listing (Lowest to highest rank):
      • Blood Enforcer - A rare variant of the Enforcer, consisting entirely of former heretics who have had a biological microchip inserted into their brain to guarantee absolute obedience. Unlike Enforcers, Blood Enforcers are almost never seeded into the Bryn’adul ranks, instead serving as ruthless assassins who maintain a veil of secrecy while eliminating some of the greatest threats to Bryn’adul internal harmony. Publicly pronounced as executed for heresy, the existence of Blood Inquisitors is kept a very closely guarded secret by the Ish’makra and Tachael-Vemnak.
      • Enforcer - The standard rank of the Tachael-Vemnak, consisting of about 96% of its membership. Members of any regular branch of the Byrn’adul military such as Zealots and Brutes that display exceptional loyalty to the precepts of the Byrn’adul are contacted privately and given a meeting time. Once they arrive, they are introduced to the Tachael-Vemnak, where they take a vow of secrecy and are indoctrinated into the Order of Enforcers. Enforcers are typically “seeded” among typical Byrn’adul units, re-entering the military unit which they were recruited from and resuming normal training and procedures while secretly carrying out Tachael-Vemnak functions.
      • Enforcer Educator - The Enforcer Educator position is a part-time position that is often taken up temporarily by senior Enforcers or those with exceptional service. Educators are usually appointed and replaced by the regional Overseer. On top of their typical Enforcer duties, Enforcer Educators have two key tasks. First off, they are tasked with recruiting new Enforcers and teaching them the ways of the Tachael-Vemnak. Typically, an eligible Enforcer will hold an Educator position for between a week and a month with daily classes until they are satisfied with the training of the Enforcer or Enforcers under their guidance. Additionally, an Enforcer Educator may also bring in more experienced Enforcers for anti-Bryn’adul training drills. These typically occur daily for about a month. Once Educators have completed either of their tasks, they will resume their service as a regular Enforcer.
      • Enforcer Overseer - Enforcer Overseers form the ruling council and judiciary body of the Tachael-Vemnak and are the highest-ranking officials in the Order of Enforcers. Enforcers Overseers are not seeded in Bryn’adul ranks, yet their reputations and positions are not publicly known. Individual Overseers typically have jurisdiction over the Enforcers on a military installation, planet, or star system, depending on its importance. They correspond with Enforcers secretly, both providing and receiving intelligence to ensure the smooth functioning of the Tachael-Vemnak. Enforcer Overseers also have the responsibility of scanning the reports of individual Enforcers to root out potential heretical errors within the Tachael-Vemnak itself. Twice a year, Enforcer Overseers meet at a conclave to report the status of the Inquisitors under their command and discuss the internal state of the Bryn’adul.
  • Membership:
    • The Tachael-Vemnak has approximately ten thousand members spread across Byrn’adul conquests, though it is not publicly known. While lower-level Enforcers know that the Tachael-Vemnak is a large operation, only Overseers have access to the exact count of Tachael-Vemnak agents operating at any specific time. Typically, Enforcers are recruited when an Enforcer Educator notices their exceptional loyalty to the Byrn’adul cause and secures a private audience with them. If an Enforcer candidate refuses to accept their new role, then they are deemed heretics and executed on the spot. However, since recruits are almost always among the most determined zealots of the Byrn’adul, refusals are extremely rare, with less than 10 Enforcer candidates choosing to opt out in the Tachael-Vemnak’s entire history.
    • Upon accepting their new position, Enforcers must complete a cultural education class under the jurisdiction of an Enforcer Educator. In order to avoid suspicion, Enforcer recruits and their Educator are called away to a “skills refinement camp” for the duration of their education, leaving their units behind. To the public eye, the refinement camps are meant to further hone the skills of capable Byrn’adul in a secluded environment. In reality, within these classes, Enforcers are taught advanced cultural studies and memorize the precepts of the Byrn’adul. Once complete, Enforcer trainees become official Enforcers and obtain all associated privileges and responsibilities.
  • Climate:
    • The Tachael-Vemnak is a cutthroat meritocracy, where even Overseers can be executed for heresy if they slip up. Those who show success are rewarded, while those who continuously fail in their tasks are looked down upon by their peers and eventually exiled. There is a strong spirit of pride within the Tachael-Vemnak, with many Enforcers seeing themselves as culturally superior to other Byrn’adul. Additionally, every member of the Order of Enforcers is bound by a strict vow of secrecy to keep the organization hidden from the public view, with violators facing the threat of execution.
  • Reputation:
    • While the existence and composition of the Tachael-Vemnak is a closely guarded secret, rumors have been spread of a mysterious force in the Byrn’adul that punishes heretics brutally. These unknown agents are seen as powerful, ruthless, and cunning, often killing without a trace and leaving the corpses of her victims publicly mutilated. Mere rumors of the “orthodoxy organization” are enough to set most Bryn’adul outside of the Ish’makra on edge.
  • Curios:
    • While very capable of blending into normal Bryn’adul military and civil units and utilizing their equipment, Tachael-Vemnak Enforcers do have one unique object.
    • Enforcers of all ranks carry a uniquely shaped Draelviser Technological rock distributed throughout their ranks by the Overseers and Educators. At roughly half the size of a Baedurin fist, they are smaller than most Drael rocks. They are marked with the symbol with the Tachael-Vemnak, and usually never leave the pocket of an Enforcer until they are alone in a private chamber. Enforcers then use these rocks, that are locked to the individual Enforcer, to record their observations for the day. Approximately once a month, an Enforcer will export the rock’s data to another storage system used by the regional Overseer.
  • Rules:
    • Quoted from The Principles Of The Order Of Enforcers - The Five Main Principles (1.1.3.)
      • 1. To the galaxy, the Tachael-Vemnak does not exist. No Enforcer should ever discuss the Tachael-Vemnak or perform its operations in public view unless addressing the Ish’makra with their explicit consent.
      • 2. The Tachael-Vemnak must enforce orthodoxy through hidden force. Enforcers seeded among the ranks of the Byrn’adul must immediately eliminate any suspected heretics. However, valuable or especially dangerous heretics should be converted into Blood Inquisitors if killing is undesirable.
      • 3. Lower Enforcers must report their observations to their presiding Overseer once a month, unless such an occurrence would risk the integrity of Rule 1. In such a case, earlier or later arrangements can be made.
      • 4. Twice a year, all members of the Order of Enforcers must take an anti-Bryn’adul combat class.
      • 5. If any individual outside of the Tachael-Vemnak or the Ish’makra learns of its existence, then they must have their memory wiped. If they prove too troublesome, then elimination of the individual is the next best option.
  • Goals:
    • The main goal of the Tachael-Vemnak is serving as a secret policing force to maintain loyalty within the ranks of the Bryn’adul and punish the disloyal. In doing so, they can ensure that the Bryn’adul are always ready to continue their galactic conquest with the full backing of the species.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

A year after the creation of the first Baedurin clones in 840 ABY, defects began to appear.

Initially, it was a surprise to Bryn’adul bioengineers. After all, their species was designed to be the perfect fighting machine in both body and spirit. The thought of an imperfection in the cloning process was unimaginable. However, the overseers soon exited their phase of denial and realized that some genes were indeed faulty. While refining the cloning process helped reduce “defective” Bryn, and the title of Tenabrak was created to more easily categorize them, the situation continued to grow dire. Some Bryn’adul who would later become Tenabrak spouted twisted ideas of rebellion, technological integration, or even the destruction of the species itself. Unable to hold back any further heresies on their own, the ruling council known as the Ish’makra decided to create a secret organization for the sole purpose of dealing with heretics and traitors.

In only three months, the Ish’makra were able to finalize a product known as the Tachael-Vemnak. Twelve Overseers were originally assigned to lead the organization, formerly high-ranking field officers who took a vow of secrecy upon ordainment. Then, they began recruiting Enforcers. Two months after the twelve original Overseers were appointed, the Tachael-Vemnak numbered 2,000.

The first action of the Tachael-Vemnak was to start an Inquisition. In a secret broadcast set up by the Overseers to the original Order of Enforcers, it was announced that the Enforcers would secretly a watchful eye on the enlisted Bryn’adul.

In the first year of the existence of the Tachael-Vemnak, seven months after the Overseers launched their Inquisition, nearly 2,000 individuals suspected of heresy were slain or converted into Blood Enforcers. At the same time, the ranks of the Tachael-Vemnak swelled to 6,500. By then, the practice of seeding junior Enforcers had been well-established, and nearly every branch of the military had at least a hundred Enforcers among their ranks.

At this point, some Bryn’adul had grown suspicious as mysterious disappearances continued to occur. When asked about the infiltration of foreign spies, the Ish’makra denied such rumors. They reasoned that foreign spies would be very easily recognizable among the uniform ranks of the Bryn’adul, and for the most part, such an answer was accepted. Then, the species began to suspect traitors within their ranks. However, the Ish’makra pointed to the irony of the claim, when it was the most munitious and eccentric Bryn’adul who were being murdered. As a result, what had previously been minor rumors about a secret orthodoxy group rapidly spread. The Tachael-Vemnak itself added fuel to the rumors, to a limited extent. They wanted some paranoia in order to reduce their workload and keep the Bryn’adul in line, but they were also careful to apprehend individuals who began to suspect that the rumors were true.

To this day, the Tachael-Vemnak continues to grow, invigorated by rumors of internal strife within the Byrn’adul as they launch their galactic conquest.
