Calling Jakku an inviting place would be an outright lie. It was a desert planet on the far side of Galactic Alliance space that was covered in wrecks from the ancient battle between the Empire and the Rebellion some eight hundred years ago. Native fauna was either hardy or incredibly dangerous - or both. The sentient inhabitants were singularly uninviting and only wanted to be left alone...and that was in those few places where they could actually be found. More than a few simply vanished off into the wilderness to live a life of hermitage.
Audren couldn't blame them in the slightest. This was a planet where one could disappear, very similar in scope to how the legendary Obi-Wan Kenobi used Tatooine so long ago. Having given in to the desire to withdraw from galactic events himself, it was very much understandable. The galaxy was far from any idyllic scenario that could have been contrived when this graveyard of ships had been created; many thought it was getting worse year after year. Oh, there were pockets of space here and there that weren't so bad but it didn't take much to see it in a negative light. Heck, there were probably some who thought eking out a solitary existence here was preferable to facing the Bryn'adul. No doubt that was the sentiment of those present who
had faced the Bryn.
On the other hand though, there was a Jedi Enclave hidden away here. It was small and from what he understood could almost be meant as a supplementary location for the primary Orders, hidden away as it was. However, it was also Order-agnostic and news about it was spreading in Jedi circles. Whilst nobody paid any attention to newcomers landing in the desert on Jakku, if enough ships were to gather they would no doubt be noticed.
Not long after he'd arrived, the Sephi had learned about an expedition heading off to clear out some nearby caves for potential expansion. Very much curious about the other Jedi here and fully intending to support himself, he headed out with the mixed group of Jedi and a few soldiers. The
robes he wore were woefully inadequate for extended exposure to this arid environment but would fair much better in the caves. He had his lightsaber of course, but also carried a sidearm and a rucksack with gear suitable for caves and some basic desert necessities. Who knew what they'd encounter?
Two of the Jedi in the group were injured, or recovering from injuries. One limped, while the other was fully in a hoverchair. Even with the limited speed, it hadn't been long before the group had arrived at the cave entrance. There they'd been met by yet another soldier, apparently from the Galactic Alliance. Having him here might be useful diplomatically, but when it came to a secret enclave possibly not the wisest decision. The elfin Jedi was himself just a visitor at this point however, so he held his tongue. He even held it when the Jedi woman in the hoverchair voiced her suspicion that they wouldn't find much here but to stay on their toes - most soldiers would have instantly been superstitious about the claim.
The trouble was that he could sense the same thing they did, what had been described as
something more. It was all around them yet not and as a result was quite difficult to pinpoint. This specific cave was - to all visual cues - a dead end. The Master's attention kept getting drawn to a particular section of wall however. He didn't know why, it just seemed
off. He allowed the others to talk amongst themselves and silently moved to the specific section, barely leaving footprints in the sand. Both his sense of touch and his Force sense moved along the wall. It was definitely....
here. His left hand slipped into a hidden cleft up to his wrist and encountered a lever; immediately upon contact he knew that there would have been negative consequences if he'd been a dark side user and touched it.
Never one to wait around talking, Audren pulled the lever. There was barely any friction and no sounds could be heard - clearly this was a masterpiece construction - yet he plainly felt something release with the pull. From his perspective he could see the tiniest crack appear a meter further in. This sliver of darkness was recessed: anyone looking at it directly would see the rough texture of a natural cave wall, but from this perspective it was laser-straight and perfectly vertical. Very much
not natural.
"Here."
The Jedi pulled his arm back and wedged his fingers into the crack to begin pulling. The section of wall moved smoothly but was extremely heavy. Super-dense stone maybe, or alchemically-enhanced. He got it open by a few more centimeters before stopping, just enough to clear it from the concealing rim around it.
