OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

  • Intent: To create a truly unique and astonishing ship for Firemane’s use. Though this was built by the Rakata it does not use any forbidden or technology unique to them. Since this ship cannot leave the atmosphere easily it is more suited to being classed as a vehicle rather than a spaceship.

STRENGTHS

  • Colossal. For a terrestrial vehicle the Pyramid is vast, 200 metres a side. Combined with heavy shields, thick plating and internal defences it is very difficult for any ground army to deal with.
  • Armament. The Pyramid is armed with an array of weaponry more often seen on a space cruiser. It can lay down a devastating bombardment or provide close support for advancing troops.
  • Forceful. The crystal array acts as a meditation chamber allowing one strong in the Force to guide the ship with their mind and also allows them to channel abilities such as Battle Meditation, should they possess them.
WEAKNESSES

  • Slow. The Pyramid is very slow, so much so that even the slowest vehicle on the ground can usually outpace it. Even a marching soldier would be able to briefly keep ahead of it. Because of this and its size the enemy will know where and when it is coming.
  • Engines. The engines are the weakest part of the ship. If the deflector shields are pierced and weapons are able to be fired directly into the base from below they might be enough to ground the Pyramid…or even cause it to fall from the sky.
  • Limited. The Pyramid cannot leave Tygara unaided. It also cannot reliably ascend higher than 100 metres above the ground. Its large size and slow speed also means it can be targeted from orbit and by enemy bombers. It is also incredibly cumbersome and clumsy to manoeuvre.
DESCRIPTION
The Rakata Infinite Empire ruled much of the galaxy for thousands of years. In this time it constructed many wonders and marvels across the galaxy, mixed with their record of cruelty and tyranny on the peoples of the stars.

One of their oddest experiments was on the planet Tygara where they sought to create different strands of compliant warrior slaves for their endless wars. To ensure their control of Tygara they constructed a vast pyramid which served as their communication and authority hub. If any of the natives considered rebelling it was the menacing shape of the black pyramid which would keep them in line.

However, the Infinite Empire collapsed before all their plans and strategies could be put in place. Tygara was abandoned after the Rakata warred with each other and left to fight their civil war. The Qadiri, Xioquo and Vashyada were left to survey the ruins of Empire. Inevitably strife broke out and the three races went their own paths, their history forgotten.

Through nearly twenty thousand years the pyramid sat menacingly in the deep deserts of Tygara. It was shunned by the Qadiri as a cursed place of bad spirits and evil. None who entered its unnaturally cold shadow returned the same…and few returned at all.

When Firemane and the Eldorai arrived on Tygara the Black Pyramid was noted with confusion and curiosity, but there were more pressing matters to attend to. It was not until Sahal Jai Azal, a young Qadiri in the service of Siobhan Kerrigan Siobhan Kerrigan , revealed details about a previous visit that the pyramid was investigated closer. The pyramid was detected to be leeching a rare form of radiation once used by the Rakata, so Siobhan and Sahal assembled a team and entered the pyramid. Inside they found the remnants of the Infinite Empire including techno-zombies, an insane Rakata spirit which offered them great power, and many boobytraps and Force illusions.

Siobhan though showed her powerful abilities in the Force and with the aid of Sahal and her warriors managed to overcome and claim the pyramid. An extensive refit followed through which the pyramid was equipped with modern technology and cleaned of all unwelcome traps and illusions. With this done it was remodelled into a powerful planetary command ship. Inside this pyramid Siobhan could have it fly over the ground, unleashing powerful blasts of turbolaser fire into an enemy whilst being incredibly resistant to enemy firepower.

In truth the Black Pyramid is most useful as a flying fortress, showpiece and bastion, as it is incredibly slow and cannot leave Tygara without the efforts of a ship the size of a battle cruiser. It is also very vulnerable to concentrated bombardment from any orbiting fleet or heavy bomber attack. However, for its purpose of routing enemies and providing a menacing shape it is well suited.
