Age: 137
Species: Komodo

Appearance: A behemoth in comparison to humans, as his typical of his kind. Aku stands at just over 6'10'' tall. He's a brute of a beast - all muscle and brawn with skin of deep blue. Aku's eyes are red with slit pupils. At one point in his life he had long, black dread-locked hair, all of which is gone now due to an excessive growth of atypical horns over the course of his long life. These form in layers of spikes and pointed horns that follow the crest of his skull, down his neck and over his shoulders, back, and upper arms. It gives him limited mobility in his neck and shoulders and makes wearing armor or clothing on his torso next to impossible - though the Komodi's armor-like scales make the former unnecessary. He has a long tail boasting quill-like spikes that can be used as a weapon and deterrent, though most of his people have prehensile tails that are often used like third hands, his quills impose limitations on what he can do with it.

Personality: Quiet, withdrawn, grumpy. Similar in nature to Sherra, but less on the friendly side. Aku dislikes socializing and prefers to keep to himself, but what many don't realize is that this is due mostly in part to his low understanding of Galactic Basic. Aku knows just enough of it to get by, but not enough to carry on a conversation or understand anything more than simple orders or questions. He actually knows more Huttese than Basic. In his native tongue of Komodan, he is considered to be on the higher scale of intelligence and affluence and is quite wise from his travels. He's a brilliant mind for trade and fair market value, has a broad-spanning knowledge of various cultures and a long standing career as a mechanic. Curiously enough, Aku is not a killer and dislikes violence. He can be ordered to detain someone, but he will refuse to bring unnecessary harm. Given his massive stature, it takes something considerable to convince him to do something he doesn't want to do.

Force Sensitivity: NFU

Weapon of Choice: Brute strength, if he must. His claws, tail, fangs. Basically himself. Oh and tools, he's been known to defend himself with mechanic tools. Aku does not carry weapons otherwise.

Skills: High skilled trader of goods with a mind for market value of a large variety of things, though less inclusive of tech like Kiin. Aku is also a skilled mechanic and serves as such on the Harrowbane. He also makes a great stand-in pilot for larger ships.

Wealth: Low.

Combat Function: The shield. The battering ram when times call for it. The threatening-looking guy standing at the back of the group with a grumpy glower. Aku does not see much combat as that's not what his job entails.

Notable Possessions: A large and heavy sealed shipping crate that he refuses to open or allow anyone near. He is extremely possessive and protective of it.

History: Like most of his people, Aku is a nomad with no place to truly call home. He's traveled across the stars for as long as he can remember with his family in tow. In his young adulthood Aku lead a small and profitable trading caravan of Komodi. Over the years and in facing events such as Netherworld, he saw his caravan numbers dwindle until there was no one left but he. Aku was forced to sell his large trading freighter and the remainder of his stock in order to purchase a smaller vessel that he used to travel from port to port, picking up odd jobs as a mechanic or hired muscle. He found his best income in working with the Hutts and so picked up Huttese over the years.

About twenty years ago Aku heeded the call of the Komodi caravans by the last living Eldar, Ravegar Utek. It was the first and only time Aku had ever seen an Eldar in his life and would likely be the last. This was a spiritually enlightening turn of events for him and made him question his lifestyle of violence he'd picked up after losing his caravan. Aku decided to stay with the Eldar's colony and help with his mechanical skills and knowledge. During this time he met another curiosity: a young golden Komodi named Palu who took a strange liking to him. Unbeknownst to Aku, Palu was the only Scribe and Apprentice to the current living Eldar and had a head full of knowledge considered to be lost. When Eldar Ravegar Utek died, Palu showed up at his quarters on the colony ship with the Eldar's tome insisting they had to leave before anyone noticed.

Palu became Aku'Mathaal's charge and the pair traveled the stars for many years together seeking out the lost tomes of the other four Eldars. Somewhere along the line Aku noticed something strange about the Scribe and realized that she was suffering the beginning stages of Cirling's Disease: a fatal and incurable ailment of their people. They decided the best course of action was for Palu to go into cryostasis to halt the disease in its tracks while Aku sought out the remaining tomes. He ran out of money when he reached Rattatak and quickly accepted a job offer from Blackthorne with the stipulation that no one was to touch his crate, ever, and that he was not to be used for mercenary work. So far this has worked out well enough for him.

Intent: Crew member #5
