OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Organization Name: The Army of Light
  • Classification: Order of Force Users
  • Affiliation: The Grayson Imperium, the Light Side of the Force
  • Organization Symbol: The Army of Light uses the traditional symbol of the Jedi Order.
  • Description: The Army of Light is made up of Jedi and similar followers of the Light that have chosen to take a far more traditional approach to the teachings of the Jedi. They hearken back to traditionalism, adopting the Jedi Code of old, its structures, philosophies, and beliefs. Rather than proclaiming a wholly different order of Jedi, those within the Imperium chose to reestablish the Army of Light to symbolically work against the division of the Jedi, whilst also adopting the title of 'Army of Light' to refer to the martial function of their group, as well as establishing a successive canon between the Jedi of the Imperium, and those of old.

GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: Tython
  • Domain: The Army of Light is stretched across every world within the Imperium. They are based out of Tython, and have small areas of operation across the nation's holdings. Members of the Army of Light may also be seen in standard military bases, as their warriors serve alongside normal soldiers quite regularly.
  • Notable Assets: The Army of Light has financial backing from the Grayson Imperium, and a handful of temples across Tython's surface, as well as a temple currently under construction on Coruscant (Temples soon to be subbed)

SOCIAL INFORMATION

  • Hierarchy: The Army of Light is led by a council of experienced Jedi Masters. Currently the AOL is led by Masters Wyatt Morga Wyatt Morga , Battlemaster, Avo Avo , Master of the Council, Alyson Halle Alyson Halle , Head of the Peacekeepers, and Cedric Grayson, Grandmaster. All members of the AOL are expected to submit to the will of the council. Beneath the council are sects reflecting the Jedi Order of old, IE: The Jedi Shadows, Sentinels, Peacekeepers, etc.

  • Membership: The Army of Light, despite its name, is relatively small. It is made up of those Jedi that have sworn themselves both to the Grayson Imperium, and to a more traditional way of life. Membership is similar to that of most Jedi Orders; the untrained are taken on as padawans, and those with experience will undergo certain trials to make sure their titles were earned rather than given. These trials vary from individual to individual. OOCly one can join simply by asking one of us if they can jump in.

  • Climate: The Army of Light generally has a very peaceful atmosphere when not in combat. Its members are treated with total equality, the pursuit of knowledge is held above most other things, and minds are relatively open. They are not, however, relaxed. Its members are held to high moral standards, and transgressions are met with great judgement. Any mention of the Dark Side beyond that of viewing it with hostility and disdain is not tolerated, and will likely lead to a meeting with the council. There is a strong sense of duty to the AOL, and a belief that the Jedi of the galaxy have strayed far from the tenets of the Order. While the more experienced members of the AOL might be tolerant of this laxness, there are many within the AOL that turn their nose up at Jedi that do not follow the code strictly. This strictness is known enough that it is accepted rumor that the only reason the Jedi within the AOL are permitted romantic relationships is because the Lord-Imperator will require a wife to continue the line of succession, and he did not wish to deny his constituents such a right while he exercised it. Additionally the AOL is far more religious than most Jedi organizations, though belief in the Ashla as a godly figure is not a requirement for membership. The general thought is that the Dark Side is not part of the Force at all, but a cancer spread to it by the failings of sentient beings. Most within the AOL conform to this form of belief. It is not uncommon to see knights of the AOL attending the church services of the Followers of the Ashla.

  • Reputation: Within the Imperium, the Army of Light are seen as paragons of virtue. They are guardians of the people, preservers of purity, and warriors to stand against the rising dark tide. There are some discontent elements that do not care for the amount of power these Jedi have been afforded, but most see them as saviors. Beyond the Imperium, views on the Army of Light are mixed. Some see them as the militaristic force that the galaxy needs, others see them as heretics that have gone against the Jedi path, their number having grown considerably after Jend-Ro Quill Jend-Ro Quill 's open writing on the fascistic nature of the Grayson Imperium. Members of the AOL generally meet this reputation with either acceptance and a desire to change that view, or a disdain for what they perceive to be close minded individuals that cannot accept the changing of the times.

  • Curios: Members of the Army of Light carry variations of Jedi Crusader pendants. (To be subbed)

  • Rules: The Army of Light follows the Jedi Code of Odan-Urr to a T, save for two particular tenants. The first being that of romantic attachment, combating the view of the old Jedi under the belief that positive emotions such as love are of the Ashla, and thus holy. The second is that of Jedi ruling, outright going against this claim by listing the accomplishments of the Jedi Lords as their basis. They believe that those Jedi with the wisdom and experience to lead should do so, for to do otherwise would mean not serving the galaxy to the fullest of their ability.

  • Goals: The Army of Light seeks several things, the first of which is a return to a more traditional and centralized Jedi Order. The independence of the Jedi has been their greatest weakness since the fall of the Galactic Republic in the AOL's eyes, and to them a strong central leadership is the key to Jedi restoration. Beyond that, the AOL's goal is the outright eradication of the Dark Side from the galaxy. They believe that should all knowledge of the Sith and similar groups be destroyed, and the people of the galaxy taught to live morally and compassionately, the Bogan will be cast out from the galaxy entirely, leading to a golden age of prosperity the likes of which the galaxy has only seen before the Gulag Plague.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Army of Light has often been something the Jedi have called for in times of chaos. Led by Jedi Lords, the Army of Light once cast the Sith out from the galaxy for a thousand years. Its second rise saw to the collapse of the Sith Empire before the fall of the Galactic Republic. Needless to say, the Army of Light is a legendary organization, though one that has been forgotten in recent years.

Several Jedi Masters hailing from different parts of the galaxy came together on Dagobah, each of them called to the lost world by the will of the Living Force. Together, these Jedi underwent trials of faith and spirit to ensure their resolve was pure. After finishing the trials, these Jedi came together to reform the Army of Light. The reasoning for this stemmed from the near endless war that had wracked the galaxy for the majority of their lifetimes. Each founding member had gone through terrible conflicts. They emerged from them stronger, but also changed. The realities of the galaxy began to set in.

A belief that the splintering of the Jedi Order was the result of a loss of tradition sprung up in each of them. This was coupled with the near constant conquest of the Sith, and the idea that the Dark Side was not the Force at all, but rather the deformed and abused result of force sensitives letting their vile desires spill into the pure Ashla, corrupting it until it was unrecognizable. United under this mutual understanding, the group sought a means to train a new generation of Jedi under the tenants of the Order of old. They looked to history, and found themselves wanting, save for in the stories of the Army of Light. When the Republic proved itself incapable of defending the galaxy from the Sith, the Jedi of that era took upon the title of Lord, and led the fight on their own accord, eventually banishing the Sith from the galaxy for a thousand years.

Inspired by their stories, these Jedi Masters resolved to reform the Army of Light in honor of their predecessors, reasoning that they were in a similar situation themselves. Together, these Jedi began to train a new generation of force sensitives in their way of thought, forging the beginnings of an army that they hoped might match the might of the Sith Empire and her allies when the time for war finally came.
