  • Organization Name: The Ambassadors.
  • Classification: Diplomatic Caste/Covert Operatives.
  • Affiliation: Geminidae.
  • Organization Symbol: The Ambassadors do not possess any distinctive symbol or emblem.
  • Description:
Ambassadors are one of the four castes of Geminian society and the smallest, composed by those who were designed through breeding programs and then educated and trained throughout their lives to serve two main purposes. One being well-known while the other is kept a secret, Ambassadors are highly skilled and prepared individuals characterized by their independence, loyalty, adaptability and efficiency.

Publicly, and as their name suggests, they are the diplomatic and economic representatives of Geminidae outside of the Consors system. The link between the galaxy and their planet, any attempt to contact the Geminian authorities or corporations must first pass through an Ambassador. They assist meetings and audiences of any kind, speak on behalf of whoever they were sent to represent (the Geminian Sovereign, the Tribunes, a CEO from a geminian company, or anyone who demands their service) and guard the interests and assets of their people. If approached by someone unknown to them or their superiors they offer the first judgement that will define whether said individual is allowed to pursue further negotiations or discussions with the Geminians or not. Because of this, to most they are known as politicians and corporate representatives as well as the only chance of obtaining a deal with the Geminians if one doesn't already have contacts within the isolationist planet.

However, this was not their original function and there is much more to the Ambassadors than what is publicly known. For millennia, the true purpose of the Ambassadors has been to explore the galaxy, find new cultures, technologies or anything that is deemed valuable or useful, study or acquire it and return to Geminidae to teach it or give it to their people. They are the core of the foundations of geminian culture which thrives off of the assimilation and modification of foreign practices and creations in addition to their own. They are ordered to achieve this goal through whatever means necessary: spending years within a community to learn their ways, offering their service in exchange for knowledge or whatever valuable they are after, becoming apprentices to someone skilled in a certain practice they wish to learn or even infiltrating companies and other entities to steal or copy what they are after, if the more agreeable and not illegal methods fail.

Because of this, they are not only educated in the ways of cunning and public speaking but are also highly qualified and trained operatives, their skillsets designed to keep themselves alive and sort through whatever difficulty they may face be it in the form of physical opponents they may have to deal with or getting in and out of a building unnoticed. Each of them further specializes in an area of interest of their choosing, some of them are expert slicers while others master the art of infiltration and others become trackers or explorers. More often than not, Ambassadors work alone but when they decide to resort to force or infiltration they will usually pair up: one does the job, while the second one ties loose ends. They are very careful when picking which risks to take. Due to the amount of classified information they are entrusted they may become high-risk hostages should they fail to accomplishing a mission and be captured; in addition to this, because of their status as representatives their discovery could jeopardize the reputation of their planet.

More often than not they will wander the galaxy in search for new things to learn, keeping a low profile, a false identity and behaving like any other common and unremarkable explorer would. They maintain frequent contact with Geminidae and in this manner they are alerted when they are required to fulfill their roles as representatives. These orders can come from the Sovereign, the Tribunes or the Ministry of Commerce through a request issued by a geminian company or individual, in which case the Ambassador will then contact the head of the enterprise or said citizen and serve as their representative.

  • Headquarters: Altranais City, Geminidae.
  • Domain: The Ambassadors do not claim any territories or buildings as their own. They are highly respected in their planet both for the importance of their role and the renown of their abilities both in combat and with words. Ambassadors are not subjected to the law in the same way any other Geminian is. They can only be accused and processed by a Tribune or by the Sovereign themself.
  • Notable Assets: None.

  • Hierarchy:
In essence, the Ambassadors share the same influence and prestige within their own group with no exceptions. The only form of "hierarchy" originates as a result of effectiveness and seniority, but this is not a formal structure and even though some individuals may hold more respect and trust, this does not truly grant them any form of command over the rest. They respond directly to the Tribunes or the Sovereign themself, and when ordered to, also to CEOs or other individuals who might have business to solve outside of Geminidae.
  • Membership:
Ambassadors are born as a result of the geminian breeding programs. So far in their history, no one who hasn't been born an Ambassador has managed to become one.
  • Climate:
The Ambassadors are expected to be disciplined, efficient and loyal. They must be prepared to carry out any task asked of them with little room for questioning or doubt. Because of this, during their meetings and assemblies they push away any form of emotion and try to remain objective and cold to the best of their ability, ignoring any personal reservations or involvement. They acknowledge that they are both vital and dangerous to their planet at the same time, and therefore a very strong feeling of sharp seriousness reigns over them whenever their jobs are involved. Ambassadors are outside of the Geminian law and they can only be accused or processed for crimes if said accusation comes directly from one of their superiors. Failure does no longer come hand in hand with the dreadful punishments they faced in the past, but such harsh practices have set the standard and not being able to carry out a mission effectively does imply some form of retribution and a loss of respect within their own group.
  • Reputation:
In Geminidae, the Ambassadors are regarded with great respect and gratitude for their service to their homeworld and esteemed for their abilities and training. Ambassadors who have already been recalled from their journeys are perceived as wise and capable, and those who no longer actively practice the profession are often sought out for counsel and opinions. In the rest of the galaxy, where they are only known as diplomats, they have built a reputation as cunning and observant representatives with a remarkable knack for objectivity. They are described as approachable and reasonable, proving to be a pleasant and amiable company. Fierce debaters and resourceful thinkers, they are known to not be easily fooled and for their ability to exchange their cordial manner for a frigid gravitas in the blink of an eye if the situation calls for it.
  • Curios:
When acting as Geminidae's representatives, the Ambassadors wear a traditional geminian gem-mask. Its purpose is purely symbolical, obscuring their own faces for they speak as the voice of others and not themselves. In addition to this, they also wear a spear-head shaped pin or accessory (bracelet, necklace, earrings, etc.) to denote their allegiance to their homeworld and status as diplomats.
  • Rules:
    • The Code of Conduct:
      • Ambassadors are forbidden from disclosing their orders.
      • An Ambassador must always be available to respond and carry out their commands when called upon.
      • Ambassadors are not to become affiliated to any form of organization unless this is done as a means to obtain knowledge or other valuables.
      • When not on active political duty, Ambassadors must aim to keep their identity a secret. They are trusted to reveal their identities and purpose if they deem it fit, but they will be held accountable if doing so results in negative consequences.
      • Ambassadors must speak for their representee and defend their view points and assets with integrity and objectivity, with no influence from personal feelings or opinions.
      • Albeit not forbidden, they are to avoid forging personal connections with outsiders.
      • Ambassadors will only kill in self defense, by order or if granted permission by the Geminian Tribunes or Sovereign or if the survival of a third-party endangers Geminidae. The use of lethal force is to avoided.
      • Killing another Ambassador is forbidden and an act of betrayal, unless death is granted as a coup de grâce or if the Ambassadors has become a high-risk liability (e.g. hostage situation).
  • Goals:
    • To acquire new knowledge and skills or improve the known ones in order to expand the wisdom of the Geminian people through teaching.
    • To obtain new technologies and explore unknown civilizations to further the development of Geminidae and diversify its culture.
    • To serve as representatives and guardians of the Geminian's interests and assets, both political and economical.
    • Protect Geminian authorities should they ever find reason to leave the Consors system.

The Ambassadors came to be as an answer to the Geminian dilemma which saw their desire for separation and peace confronted with their unstoppable curiousness and pursuit of development and learning. The last caste to be designed, the Ambassador breeding programs began shortly after Geminidae closed its borders to the rest of the galaxy. Genetically tailored to be independent, resourceful, cunning and capable they were shaped through teaching and training into explorers, spies and skilled agents.

After many generations during which they provided new knowledge, customs and technology to their people, a change in the isolationist practices of Geminidae would see them adopt their responsibilities as diplomats. With a growing industry and a still present thirst for betterment the Geminians decided to reasume commerce with other systems while still remaining independent and separated in any other aspect. The Ambassadors became the representatives of the Geminians, in charge of defending their interests, supervising treaties and contracts and giving a voice to their opinions and claims. To this day, the Ambassadors are the only true link between Geminidae and the rest of the galaxy, the loyal guardians and shapers of the ways of their people.

I'll be conducting this review for you.

1. Image Credit.
Image Credit: Dishonored. Linked spear-head emblem made by me. Gem-mask; link (could not find any better source).

This is fine. That artwork appears in The Art of Dishonored 2, but not in a collection attributed to a particular artist. So it appears to be uncredited, even in the official materials published by Bethesda and Dark Horse Comics.

2. Affiliation
Affiliation: Geminidae

Please link Geminidae here.
