The man looked at Kahlil and squinted, before glancing down at the child next to him with a scoff, "You're foolish if you believe buying such a ship for a child will be the kind of motivation that outbids me," he began with a very high and mighty tone. "I believe that this ship should be returned to its rightful owner," The grin on his face almost seemed to be filled with malice and selfishness.

"I'm sure the Sword of the Jedi would be thrilled to know her ship is still around after all, and I'll be the one to bring it to her. For a price, of course." He chuckled a little to himself, not realizing who he was talking to. In fact, he likely knew nothing about Valery either, and had simply read up on the basics after finding out about this ship.

Vera wasn't liking any of it. What did he want a favor from mom for? Why was he looking like that? Why was he talking with such an annoying, posh tone from the core worlds? Fuzzy, simply growled, and he noticed it but seemed to only be pleased by their annoyance.

"I don't wish to make this an embarrassment for you, however. So if you decide to step out of this, I'm sure I can mean something for you too." between his fingers, he rolled a credit chip. One with a lot of money on it.

Kahlil_Div2.png

"I'm afraid what my daughter wants I can't simply let go."

Kahlil smiled ever so calmy as he reached down to pat the top of Vera's head. Calm her. A Jedi didn't act out of turn, didn't break the rules or the laws. As far as he could tell this auction was perfectly legal, asides from the fact that the ship apparently belonged to Valery and that was the common knowledge. Selling the ship of another was rather.. Well, perhaps it was illegal. But for now, that could bring danger.

"I don't much care how much it costs, or who rightfully owns it. Only that my darling child gets to do with it as she sees fit. Take that paltry amount you dare offer me and step away before I take it as any more of an insult."

Vera hugged her dad's side when he reached down to pat her head, and played along when he made a promise to buy her the ship. She just smiled warmly, and shot the man an almost smug look. Clearly, she had learned that from both of her parents as well. The man in response scoffed and put away the credit chip before glaring Kahlil in the eye.

"You are making a mistake, you will regret," he said, his tone laced with ill intent. Vera picked up on it too and squinted suspiciously at him. Just what did this man have planned?

"I don't like him, daddy," she said before looking over at her mother's ship. The seller, dressed also in an expensive suit, was getting ready to begin but the rich guy they had just dealt with had pulled him into a conversation. Gamorrean guards kept anybody at a distance, and following a quick exchange of nods, the potential buyer stepped away again.

"Alright, it is finally time for our biggest offer of the day! This ship dated back to the Old Republic and belonged to Jedi Master Valery Noble!" The auctioneer called out with a grin. "For this reason, we start bids at 100.000 credits!"

Vera blinked, knowing just how much it was. Although, was it much for a ship? She had no idea but it sounded like more than she had in het little savings pot on her desk. "Daddy, can we pay for that?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

"When he tries something, we'll be ready. But remember, we're Jedi. We can't just break the law when it suits us."

Kahlil flashed a confident grin as he looked down towards Vera, then off towards the auction as it came on display. He knew something would likely happen, but he'd handle it. They hadn't picked up on who he was, which was surprising enough. Here they were trying to buy the ship of his wife, but they couldn't recognize the man who stood beside her. Leave it to their greed to blind them.

His grin only widened though as he glanced down towards Vera.

"We don't live in luxury because it's wasteful. Not because we can't afford it. Trust me." Then he raised a hand.

"Two hundred thousand."

"I know but they took mommy's ship, and they know it!" Vera scoffed with a pout, but it faded pretty quickly. She knew they couldn't just demand it, not on this planet, so playing along it was. Her dad was really good at it too, as it seemed they had everybody here fooled. Either that, or they cared just about themselves and their money so much that they had no clue about the Galaxy at large.

Either way, it was time to confront them all, and her dad seemed to have enough credits! She hadn't seen his little gamorrean savings pot that he'd one day break, but maybe he kept it hidden somewhere. It didn't matter right now - they had money.

"Five hundred thousand." The rich man from earlier looked at the two, his eyes narrowing a bit before he turned to the auctioneer. It was a simple trick to try and scare them off with a big number, but it often worked. The auctioneer blinked, grinned a greedy grin, and made a form of eye contact with the human buyer.

"Daddy, I can see bad people waiting outside. They don't want us to get the ship." Vera's eyes almost seemed to light up while she talked to her father. Visions always helped her provide extra insight.

"You can still step out. Last chance."

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Don't worry. They won't be able to stop us if they try."

It wasn't a surprise that there were people outside waiting for them, but just knowing that much meant it was going to be easy to avoid. And to change. He just smiled warmly to her, then glanced to the threatening gaze. And smirked.

"The Prince of the Epicathix would like to make a bid of Two Million, if of course an auction house of this level can accommodate such a sum. I understand some of these lower establishments can't. What would you say the limit is, exactly, dear auctioneer?"

Two million credits?

The eyes of the auctioneer were practically credit signs at the mention, but a sharp look from the other buyer made him hide his true feelings again. One way or another, the rich human had a lot of influence in this establishment. Too much. He shot Kahlil an angry glare and finally seemed to lose his composure, as he snapped, "The Epicanthix are a dead people. Your status means nothing," he hissed with venom in his voice.

"You are going to regret thaaat," Vera said with an almost sing-song voice as she looked between her father and him. She didn't think her dad would beat him up...yet...but they were getting mom's ship and nobody was going to stop them.

The rich guy seemed ready to explode, but at the last moment, he let out a soft breathe, and straightened his posture. "Fine," he said as he pulled on the hem of his shirt to straighten it out. "Have it your way." He turned away but something about his voice and look made it known that this wasn't the end of it.

He just wasn't going to pay that much for the ship.

"Did we win, daddy? Why does the ship selling man feel scared now?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

Kahlil's smug grin turned to a rather sharp and terrible glare as he spoke of the Epicanthix in such a way. It was part of the act of being the rich Prince, but he didn't exactly hide the fact he was truly angry at such a term. He seemed to think better of it though as he huffed and turned, but as Vera asked her question he didn't hesitate to answer loud enough for the human to hear. "Because he knows to insult an Epicanthix's honor and integrity is to challenge them. He'd have no choice but to fight me in a duel, and one he knows he'd loose all too easily."

It was absolutely a threat, especially against anything he might have planned. But, then he nodded and looked towards the Auctioneer. And smiled.

"So, when shall I pick up my new ship?"

This time, Vera reached for her father's hand and squeezed it, as he seemed angered or frustrated with the man. Mom always did this to keep him calm, and he did the same to her whenever she was ready to snap at someone again. But it didn't seem too necessary luckily, as Kahlil turned the man's words into a challenge. A threat. The human picked up on it and quickly broke eye contact to leave the room behind.

But the tension the Jedi could feel was far from over.

"It isn't safe," the auctioneer whispered. He almost looked pale because of how frightened he seemed to be, and his tone was deliberately shushed. "Mr. Daisa is very important to the owners of this auction, as he provides much of the funding. I-I don't think you quite understand what you've done."

"Nobody bids against Mr. Daisa."

"Daddy asked for the ship," Vera told him, ignoring all of his warnings impatiently. She just wanted her mom's fighter and go home to surprise her, so she had no time for all this trouble.

"It isn't ready to fly. You won't get out of lf this place alive with it. They know," he said with an odd emphasis on they.

Kahlil_Div2.png

Kahlil raised a brow slowly as he listened to the man, still hand in hand with Vera. He wasn't too angry, or about to lash out. Not this time, anyway. But to know there was someone like that looking to make problems because of their money, well. It was a shame Valery's ship wasn't flightworthy. And yet, it was at some point. And that alone was enough for him. He just smiled and nodded, reaching into his pocket to pull out a small datapad. Make sure the funds were transferred over.

In truth, that amount of money wasn't much at all for him.

"Oh I've met a good number of people like that. I'm not worried. My wife's ship shouldn't be in the hands of someone like that." He gave a wink. "Just let us go to the ship and we'll handle it from there. We won't cause any trouble. Just, make sure the ship is in a place where it can take off, if that's alright."

"Your wife?"

Kahlil's wink made him white as a ghost, as he understood the implication. They had carefully made sure that the Sword herself didn't know about her ship being sold for fear of her showing up, but now her husband was here? He didn't know much about the Nobles, but he wasn't about to test himself against a Jedi. The people outside would though, so perhaps this provided the auctioneer with an opportunity to rid himself of them.

"The ship can fly but needs to be fueled. I can have her brought to the nearby landing platform for it, so it will be ready for your departure, Mr. Noble." He was very quickly changing sides now, which made Vera giggle.

He just squinted at the girl with the animal on her shoulder, and sighed. "Those people outside won't let you leave though."

"We can't take them! Right, daddy?"

"I will give them a chance. And I suggest you tell them as much. I'm just here to pick up my wife's long lost ship, and I certainly don't mind paying the fjnders fee I just paid."

Kahlil kept a calmer smile this time as he reached down to pat Vera's head. She was right. They would handle it if they made a problem.

"I do hope it won't make trouble for your auction house, though."

He was right.

Maybe if he went to confront those people outside, as well as Mr. Daisa, they would leave once they knew who would be coming for them. A Jedi Master was far beyond the usual threats they dealt with out here, and these thugs tended to be cowards. They'd fight and oppress the weak, but never stand up against someone who would fight back and likely beat them.

Basic survival insticts.

"J-just stay right here!" He said, right after sending the signal for his droids to bring the ship to the landing platform. The auctioneer then rushed for the door, hoping to confront them and stop this situation from escalating.

But within less than a minute of him being out there, the two Jedi would heart a single blaster shot.

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Stay beside me."

Kahlil watched only for a moment as the man left, then started to follow. He had a feeling on what was going to happen. And sure enough, it did. Kahlil stepped out, his hand up as he caught the single blaster shot. His eyes unimpressed as he watched those who'd decide to shoot.

"That was a mistake."

The Rodian stared at Kahlil as he caught his blaster bolt, a mixture of surprise, fear and anger flashing in the Force. He had tried to kill the traitor who would ally with a Jedi on this planet, but he hasn't expected them to be capable of this. Luckily, they still greatly outnumbered the Jedi Master, and he had two other people to protect. Something they could surely use against him.

"You made a mistake coming here, Jedi-" his sentence was interrupted as Vera threw a hand forward, and sent his own pistol flying up into hie face. The impact got him to yell with pain, and the little Noble just glared at him, "You're not taking mommy's ship!" She called out, knowing the droids were already moving it away.

"What are you waiting for, shoot them!" The Rodian screamed and several blaster bolts came for Kahlil, while others missed and struck the building to send debris flying. But Vera wasn't scared, and just ignited her lightsaber to be safe, while she stayed by her father's side.

"They're coming from the other side too, daddy!" She called out to him.

"We should get out of here!" The auctioneer added as he ducked for cover

Kahlil_Div2.png

"They're not coming from anywhere I can't already see them."

Kahlil raised a hand, then brought it down. No hesitation, no holding back. Vera was here with him, and he wouldn't let her be harmed. Space itself seemed to bend, sending the blaster bolts flying towards them right into the ground. Shortly after them, the shooters did too. Not enough to kill them, he wouldn't do that in front of Vera, but he would certainly make sure they weren't able to keep shooting.

"So, where did you say my wife's ship was going again?"

"Woah!" Vera exclaimed when her father just raised a single hand to not only shield them against blaster fire, but bring the whole group of thugs down. None were seriously harmed in the process either, but they weren't going to get up and start shooting anymore. To try and help, Vera raised a hand of her own, and pulled the blasters of the thugs away from their hands, and towards herself and her father.

Her lightsaber couldn't break them or she would have cut them in half, but perhaps her father could cover that for her. "We did it!"

"It's being brought to a smaller local spaceport," the auctioneer told Kahlil, but one of the thugs on the ground managed a grin. "You'll never get off-world. Our people are everywhere and they will gut you both."

"Nuh uh!" She called back before looking at her father. "We got to hurry!"

Kahlil_Div2.png

"You know I'm starting to get a little annoyed you don't even know who I am. You want to blackmail my wife because of how powerful she is, but you don't think twice of me?" Kahlil let out a heavy sigh. As he did, the blasters Vera pulled over suddenly crushed into utterly unrecognizable lumps of metal. Not even lumps. Perfect spheres. There was no trace of what the metallic weapons had been as Kahlil reached up to rub the back of his neck with an exhausted looking smile.

"You're all embarrassing me in front of my eldest daughter."

He reached a hand out for Vera then, giving her a smile before stepping ahead to lead them to the hangar. With the assistance of the auctioneer themselves.

"Come on, Little Star. Lets get mom's ship home."

"Your wife?" One asked with a tone as stupid as the auctioneer's when he had asked. But when it clicked, the man swallowed hard. He didn't even know who Valery was - he had heard something about a ship belonging to an important Jedi, quickly looked her up on the holonet, and saw credit signs everywhere.

Now her husband stood here to claim the ship, and with him so effortlessly crushing their weapons, he knew it was over for them.

"You're all embarrassing me in front of my eldest daughter."

Vera looked up and smiled, "I think you're the coolest, daddy," she told him with that genuine love and affection she always had for her parents.

"Let's go!" Vera then called out before she followed her dad towards the small spaceport. But as they began to move, the sound of sirens and blaster fire in town would catch their attention. Chaos had come to this town to acquire the ship, and Vera's eyes shifted into the Force to learn more.

"The bad guys are fighting each other," she said, looking up at her dad. "They all want the ship for themselves." Which meant there was no coordinated effort against the Jedi specifically, but they would have to navigate through this dangerous town.

Kahlil_Div2.png

All this over one ship?

Kahlil let out a heavy sigh as he walked hand in hand with Vera. He'd keep her safe, no if ands or butts, but to think people were going this mad for it all. "Lead us through. I'll deal with anyone that gets too close."

Right now his priority was keeping his daughter safe, not dealing with the thugs here, after all.
