Strengths and Weaknesses

  • + Beskar, Pride of Mandalore: Naturally, Beskar is an element that is fully immune to the blades of lightsabers. In addition, it holds up quite impressively to offenses made by blasters, slugthrowers, and other common threats of the battlefield.
  • + Taozin, Bane of the Senses: Amulets and Nodules crafted from Taozin Hide naturally blur their wearers in the Force. As such, attempting to enact Sense-based abilities on the Beskar'gam (such as Shatterpoint) will result in failure.
  • + Terentatek, Bane of the Force: Although immune to the vast majority of abilities granted by the Force, skilled alchemists can select singular areas of the Force to make Terentatek Hide resilient against. This Beskar'gam is equipped with a bodyglove and extensive lining that has been specifically treated to provide a capable Defense against telekinetics. The wearer is effectively immune to basic telekinetics whilst enjoying a Yuuzhan Vong-level resilience against advanced telekinetics.
  • - The Price of Defense: Due to this particular armor being constructed with the most coverage in mind, the wearer will be encumbered by the weight of the armor plating. Exceptional physical feats will become impossible without the aide of the Force. Combat styles relying upon excessive movement will also become an impossibility (such as Ataru).
  • - The Unshatterable Cost: The incorporation of a Taozin Amulet results in Sense-based abilities failing to function upon the armor and its wearer; however, the proximity of the Amulet severely dampens the wearer's ability to utilize Sense-based abilities as well. Outside of cataclysmic events (such as Brokellia or the death of one the wearer if Force Bonded to), the wearer is effectively blinded.
  • - The Sacrifice of Telekinetics: While the Terentatek Bodyglove and Lining grant the wearer an impressive sum of protection against telekinetics, a sacrifice is demanded in the form of their own telekinesis. Proximity to the material dampens the wearer's ability to utilize Telekinesis, making basic telekinetics achievable only through expending tremendous effort and energy and making advanced telekinetics nigh impossible.
  • - The Downside of Electronics: Most common Beskar'gam are equipped with a host of systems and modules controlled primarily by the helm. Due to the fact that these are electronic, Electromagnetic Pulse attacks can render these systems downed or completely fried. Furthermore, Sensory jammers and other countermeasures can effectively render the helm blind.
Description

Beskar'gam

This seemingly simple word holds untold significance to those who call themselves Mandalorian. For them, donning a suit of "iron skin" affords a feeling of identity and belonging. The construction and style of even the most basic Beskar'gam sets its wearer apart, showing to all around that he or she is but a formidable piece of something far greater. It is due to the significance of Beskar'gam that Isley Verd saw fit to replace that which he had lost. His time fleeing for his life had caused him to make a variety of mistakes, one of which cost him the suit of armor that meant more than all the credits in the Galaxy.

As time moved ever forward, he gathered the resources necessary to see a newer, better Beskar'gam created. Not only would this suit surpass its predecessor in terms of overall capabilities, but it would be wholly shaped by the experience of its wearer. Thus was the Terminus Beskar'gam born: The suit of armor intended to restore Isley Verd's identity as a Mandalorian.

Background

Having now lived four decades, Isley Verd has faced down a wide variety of adversaries. In his youth, he saw leaping from battle to battle as nothing more than part of the joys of being Mandalorian. However, in his adult life, Isley has come to see each battle as a learning experience. As an Alchemist, apprenticed to the great Rave Merrill, he learned to diligently seek his shortcomings so that he might rectify them. While some are simply born with flaws, an Alchemist has the rare gift to eliminate them; or to even turn a flaw into a strength.

Only through clashing with other masters of the Force could Isley hope to uncover his flaws, and time saw fit to create those scenarios. Over the course of his numerous battles, two particular encounters jarred him like never before. The first was what could be considered a "friendly contest of strengths." Isley and a fellow member of the late Templar Order, one Ket Van-Derveld, clashed in the desert sands of Tatooine. Over the course of this fight, his opponent utilized a technique Isley had never seen before: Shatterpoint. In but an instant, the armor Isley was wearing had been destroyed; reduced to pieces by his opponent.

Likewise, the second battle that shook Isley to his core took place against one that he had no ill will towards. A tournament hosted on a far flung world saw him cross paths with one Mikael Shorn on the battlefield. While Isley attempted to achieve victory through his mentalism and Mandalorian training, he was ultimately defeated by the unrelenting, telekinetic might wielded by Shorn.

These experiences left Isley with two very legitimate concerns. On his own, there was seemingly nothing he could do to prevent his armor from being destroyed by Shatterpoint yet again. Furthermore, his skills were such that nothing short of supreme tactics would see him evade being a telekinetic ragdoll once more. These truths...these flaws...nipped at the back of Isley's mind for quite some time, until he found a solution through alchemy.

In the present, now that the opportunity has presented itself, Isley has seen fit to install these countermeasures upon his newly-forged Beskar'gam. While the armor has yet to be tested by combat, it exists as the culmination of Isley's experience; attempting to play to his Strengths while minimizing his Weaknesses.

Design: Aesthetic

At the suggestion of the woman who had created the whole of Isley's armor, his new Beskar'gam bears an aesthetic which pays homage to an ancient era. Unlike the Modern Mandalorian armors, which are typically modeled after the Bounty Hunter era aesthetic, this suit of armor was modeled after the very same worn by Mandalore the Ultimate. As such, the armor grants its wearer a rather striking presence both on and off the battlefield.

To begin, the Beskar'gam is characterized by a complete cuirass of Mandalorian Iron. This is then accompanied by several plates of the same material which cover vital areas; such as the shoulders, forearms, thighs, shins, etc. However, it is to be noted that the underside of many of these areas have been left without plating in the name of mobility and actually strapping the armor to its wearer (such as under the forearm, etc.)

Directly underneath these plates, in addition to lining the Beskar'gam's boots, gauntlets, and helmet is a comprehensive Bodyglove composed of Terentatek Hide. This Hide has been treated with alchemy, thereby granting it is capabilities in addition to its current flexibility. This trait allows for the user to move in a manner that is unrestricted (save for the obvious mobility loss due to heavy, beskar plating.) Furthermore, it is to be noted that a Taozin Amulet resides underneath the plating closest to the wearer's sternum. While it is hidden from view (and potentially harm) its presence can become a source of minor discomfort; especially in the event of arousing itchiness.

Standing atop the whole of the armor is its helm. Stylized in a manner which pays homage to the ancient Mandalore, the helm also bears the T-Visor that is considered standard amongst Mandalorian Armor. Within the helm are a wide variety of modules and technical accommodations that can also be considered standard in armor constructed by Mandalorians.

Adjacent to the helm are a pair of large, shoulder pauldrons which keep the Beskar'gam's Zeyd-Cloth cloak in place. (It is to be noted that the cloak can easily be removed if the situation calls for it.) These, like the plating, are also composed of Mandalorian Iron. As is common, the pauldrons have been decorated in order to visually represent a variety of things. The right pauldron bears the Mythosaur insignia, representing the United Clans as a whole, in addition to the insignia for the rank of Rally Master. The left pauldron bears only a single insignia: the symbol of Clan Verd.

The final piece that "brings the armor together" is a simple utility belt of leather. It bears several pockets in addition to a pair of holsters for blasters. Overall, the color scheme consists of both Black and Gold throughout. In terms of the Mandalorian culture, these colors represent the values of Justice and Vengeance respectively.

Design: Capabilities

To begin, it is to be noted that outside of the Taozin Amulet and Terentatek Bodyglove/Lining, this Beskar'gam is the definition of standard.

Of all the traits of a suit of Mandalorian Armor, the most notable hail from the metal utilized in their creation. Beskar is an element that is naturally resistant to the blades of lightsabers and holds up impressively against blasters and slugthrowers. In light of these exceptional traits, the woman who drafted the design of Isley's Beskar'gam saw fit to incorporate as much coverage by the element as possible. While there are areas left vulnerable (as mentioned in the aesthetic section) for the sake of mobility, the smith saw fit to offer the wearer as much protection as possible.

However, like all good things in the Galaxy, this came at a price. While the wearer will be rather effectively covered from a wide variety of battlefield threats, he will be unable to achieve exceptional, physical feats without aide from the Force. This eliminates the possibility of Isley utilizing lightsaber forms that are excessively demanding, such as Ataru, or moving about swiftly for extended periods of time.

On another note, while beskar itself is indeed a powerful resource, it does not cover all the bases that Isley is concerned with. In light of his aforementioned trials, he saw fit to incorporate a pair of alchemical countermeasures in order to ensure that he survive future encounters with opponents of such caliber.

The first of these measures is a Taozin Amulet, purchased from the very company owned by Isley's deceased Mentor: Rave Merrill. Incorporating this particular countermeasure results in both the wearer and the whole of the Beskar'gam becoming blurred in the Force. As such, Sense-based abilities (such as Shatterpoint) cannot be enacted upon the armor; thereby preventing a repeat of the battle against Ket Van-Derveld. However, the drawback of this particular countermeasure is due to the proximity of the Amulet to the wearer. Due to this fact, the ability of the wearer to utilize Sense-based abilities is severely dampened. The degree of this dampening is such that, outside of cataclysmic events (such as Brokellia or the death of one Force Bonded to the wearer), Sensing is effectively impossible.

Likewise, Isley saw fit to incorporate an alchemically-treated Bodyglove and Lining composed of Terentatek Hide. These were specifically designed to be highly resistant against telekinetics. In particular, the wearer is effectively immune to basic telekinetics and enjoys a resistance to advanced telekinetics that is on par with a member of the Yuuzhan Vong species. However, the downside to this particular countermeasure is also due to the proximity of the material. As the wearer is effectively draping himself in an anti-telekinetic substance, he himself is subject to this effect. Basic telekinetics are only achievable through extraordinary effort and the expending of tremendous sums of energy; and advanced telekinetics become nigh impossible to achieve.

However, this is a price eagerly paid in order to not become a glorified ragdoll once again.

Outside of these countermeasures, the Beskar'gam contains a suite of accommodations that can be considered standard of Mandalorian Armors. Its helm contains a plethora of functions that assist the wearer both on and off the battlefield; and allow him to control the whole of the armor's systems from one central hub. The helm is also completely sealed, contains an oxygen filtration system, and is connected to a reserve tank bearing two hours' worth of oxygen.

Outside of walking, mobility is achieved through the Beskar'gam's Rising Sun Jetpack which, like all of the armor's systems, can be completely controlled via the helm. On another note, the Beskar'gam has full, encrypted access to the HoloNet via the Holo Data Storage Device located upon the underside of the left gauntlet. This device allows it's wearer to accomplish common datapad-driven tasks, such as accessing files, commanding slaved vessels, etc.

Armament wise, the Beskar'gam holds a standard assortment of weaponry. The Rising Sun Jetpack contains a pair of missiles which can be fired at will, and the right gauntlet bears two standard armaments. The first is a Wrist Rocket Launcher that is located at the top of the wrist and the second is a simple Wrist Laser which is located on the underside of the wrist. Likewise, while the Holo Data Storage Device of the left gauntlet is located on the underside of the wrist, a miniature flame projector is situated atop it.

All in all, as aforementioned, the traits of the Beskar'gam are what can be considered standard amongst Mandalorian Armor; excluding the two alchemically-based countermeasures.

[member="Isley Verd"] - I feel like I spent entirely too much time reading this. There is a lot of power to this, but there are some minor strengths and after confirming some vague points I feel confident in approving this pending any secondary questions.

So- Approved. Pending Secondary.
