Technology Exotica

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
Wanted:

Individual with expertise in the usage, creation, and theories surrounding the development of exotic and rare technologies. Individual must come to Sluis Van for a meeting with the CEO to determine their suitability for the job.

Currently taking applicants.

That was the message Emeritus had posted on the holonet - Vitor felt that new technology needed to be developed, or the company would risk stagnation at the hands of not advancing along the curve. But it would take truly revolutionary technology to regain Emeritus' footing.

Truly revolutionary indeed.

Allyson sat at a small cafe on Borleias, she had just left Kaili’s workshop to head out on another job. She sipped the whiskey infused caf and checked the ads. She had a job lined up, but it was nothing interesting so she was open to something more showing up. Glancing through it, she came across the wanted ad. It was something safe from what she gathered and figured it was something that was a bit more desirable to do than try and smuggle some more credits from a drug lord. Though, she always enjoyed that thrill.

Shaking her head, she quickly shipped in her application and decided to head to the HQ of Emeritus. She had a knack for technology - maybe she could mentally download some of it and bring it back for her and Kaili to mess around with. Packing up her things she set off and headed to the location indicated. [member="Vitor Imperieuse"]

Vitor had received a notice from his secretary that an individual had come to fill in the job offer. The woman in question, a Miss Allyson Locke, was evidently knowledgeable with regards to archaic and exotic technology to the point that she could fulfill the needs he had. Such was the reason he was on Sluis Van, waiting for her in his office instead of home at Zahat'n'ira.

Once the secretary had checked her in, she would be coming inside...

Allyson knew nothing of exotic tech, but she was a smooth talker and could hopefully figure it out on the fly. It helped when the tech spoke to you and basically laid itself out in your head. Exotic and rare tech wouldn’t be any different than a ship or a speeder. Allyson scoffed at the idea of something being outside of her knowledge and arrived at the office. The secretary checked her in and she went inside of the office.

“Uh looking for the guy who put the ad on the holonet?” [member="Vitor Imperieuse"]

"That would be me." Vitor nodded, motioning for Allyson to sit down. Hopefully, she would find his guest chair to be comfortable. "I'm working on some specialized prototypes, and the absolute last thing I want is for them to end up causing any catastrophic incidents to members of my staff. Hence my offering." He paused, looking over his datapad. "What sort of qualifications do you have with regards to archaic technologies?"

He wanted to be sure she was capable before paying her anythin.

The job sounded a bit dangerous, which was something if she thought it was dangerous. Shrugging through, she didn’t care much for danger or the like. He asked for some information on what she could do with old stuff. Looking around she grabbed her BB unit and put him in her lap. “This little guy is all original pieces. Found him on Jakku in the hull of a dead star destroyer. Uh that’s about it.” Grinning nervously she wondered if her trip was going to be in vain.

“I do a lot of salvaging work, so I’ve seen the old stuff and I get how it functions and works compared to the technology of the new age. I went to university, but I dropped out. I’m trying to get into the Levantine Astronautical Academy, but you know that costs a lot of money.” Now she was rambling. Coughing, she stopped herself and fixed her brunette hair. “I’m the best person for the job, I care about technology and how it's handled. I want to help” [member="Vitor Imperieuse"]

"So you have enough of an understanding to realize how more exotic technology - in most cases non-human or arguably alien to this galaxy - can work. I can only assume that we can reverse-engineer it with your assistance." He shrugged, pondering over the wide variety of artifacts kept down in the basement. Keeping biological and chemical weapons in the fridge may not have been the best idea - but they were safe down there.

Safe from more than just people looking to exploit them.

Allyson pulled out one of her datapads and checked different alien tech that she had experienced through her short life and in school. She found her file about alien tech and exotic tech, opening it she frowned and saw that there was really nothing in there. Frowning, she shoved her datapad back into her bag. Shaking her head she chuckled. “Ah sounds easy. I just need to check things out.”

“Reverse engineering might be a difficult thing, but we will see what we can manage.”

"Sure thing." Vitor responded, figuring that now was as good a time as any to showcase what he had to work with. Motioning for the young woman to follow him, the two would enter the elevator before returning to the first floor and entering a secondary elevator. "We'll be heading down into the testing area." As they would enter, he looked over to Allyson, pausing for a moment. "I must warn you that once we get down here, it's important you do exactly as I say. Some of what's here is extremely dangerous, and even the slightest mishap could cause the whole facility to be evacuated."

With that, the doors closed as the elevator began to travel underground.
