  • Advanced Fire Control Protocols. Flak Gun Coordination Overseen by Integrated Droid Brains
se00WXc.png

  • Speedy: The Tally’s powerful array of sublight drives grant the frigate high top speeds, with its large array of RCS thrusters similarly driving up its maneuverability.
  • Fighter Killer: Possessing both an array of flak cannons and point-defense missile batteries, the Tally-class can lay down an expansive field of anti-starfighter fire.
  • Fire Control: With the vessel’s flak cannons linked to its array of integrated droid brains, Tally-class vessels can continue to near-reliably lay down their flak fields even while under high acceleration.

  • Limited Anti-Capital Ship Capabilities: Save for a single light turbolaser cannon at its prow, the Tally-class is entirely lacking in anti-capital ship weaponry, and is thus relegated entirely toward screening against starships.
  • Explosive: Making use of an array of missiles and explosive flak shells, the Tally is prone to severe internal and external damage should any of its ammunition chambers be detonated.
  • No Hangar Space: The Tally cannot bring any starfighters or support craft into battle.
  • Automation: The integrated droid brains of the Tally-class are prone to enemy hacking attacks. Should such an attack succeed, the frigate’s flak coordination protocols can be disabled and various other subsystems can be further sabotaged.
  • Heavily Specialized: Unlike its counterpart in the Ashkelon line, the Tally is entirely dedicated to the single purpose of screening against starfighters. When used to fulfill other combat roles, the frigate is almost entirely likely to fail.

Assembled first in the shipyards of the Karavin Concern, the Tally-class Frigate was designed as part of a new motion to supplement the Eternal Fleet’s existing numbers. 250 meters in length, the Tally-class was built entirely around the purpose of intercepting enemy fighters before they could reach a friendly battlegroup, and furthermore designed to work in tandem with the Fleet’s existing Ashkelon-class Frigate. The latter, though already reliable in anti-fighter screening, simply lacked the speed to take the vanguard of a formation.

That was where the Tally came in. Disposing of much of the heavier batteries and other such mass of its Ashkelon-class counterpart, the newer frigate could be propelled at far higher velocities and could be maneuvered with a great deal more agility, allowing it to take point of a larger formation. Once established within the vanguard, the Tally’s array of flak batteries and point defense missile emplacements could be employed to intercept and decimate any approaching fighter formations before they could reach an allied fleet. As fire, whether from starfighters or from capital ships, began to intensify on a flak line, the vessels’ immense speeds were to allow them to retreat back into friendly ranks, covering their escape with a continued flak barrage.

While particularly deadly when applied against hostile fighters, the Tally-class was left utterly helpless when used to engage larger or similarly sized vessels, much unlike its Ashkelon counterpart. Its only anti-capital ship weapon was an underslung turbolaser cannon, included more for the confidence of its crew than anything else. Should a hostile vessel begin to directly engage the frigate, its best course of action would always be to run and evade, ducking behind larger and better-suited vessels for safety.

As a heavily specialized vessel designed to fulfill a very specific gap in Eternal Imperial fleets, the Tally-class may never rise to any great renown. But for its contributions to the defense grids of larger task forces, the frigate will never be forgotten, either.
