SPECIAL FEATURES
  • A Synthetic Facsimile of Starburst Crystals.
  • Grown from Stardust.
  • Primarily used as Plasmatic Focusing Lenses for Energy Weapons.
  • Generates Solarized Particle Bolts; Weapon-dependent.
  • Causes Energy and Thermal Damage.
Strengths:
  • Generates a solarized particle bolt (harmonic frequency fluctuations; bypassing conventional deflector shielding.)
  • Comparable damage output to turbolasers, laser cannons, and blasters; entirely dependent on the weapon’s size.
  • Easily grown, provided requisite materials are available.
Weaknesses:
  • Utterly useless, without shaping or refinement.
  • Insufficient properties for lightsabre generation.
  • Generated beam doesn’t destroy matter on the atomic scale like Blasters, rather, the beam warps and melts it.
  • Cannot be utilized for disruptors, sonic weapons, or proton-based munitions.
  • Improper shaping or refinement can result in a volatile explosion.
  • Can be easily shattered if the housing, or weapon, is severely damaged.
  • Must be used in conjunction with Rylith crystal-enhanced Power Supplies.
  • If used in rapid succession, or drastically overheats, the crystal can burst; engulfing the weapon and the operator in a solarized inferno.
DESCRIPTION

“There is a legend amongst our people. We were once Lost and Misguided souls that set out from our ancient homeworld, in search of a new system to colonize and make our own. However, instead of finding safe harbour, our ancestors were captured by a race of beings that were crowned by threads of ivory, and a trio of fingers. We saw these awe-striking figures as gods; due to their nigh-divine appearance and scientific mastery. We Outcasts sustained ourselves on their lies, as they experimented on us; letting none see how we starved under their ‘benevolent’ care. The Sons and Daughters of our forebearers found themselves changed under the watchful eyes of these White-haired Gods - become the first of a new breed that would later inherit our homeworld.

They shaped us into Warriors and sought to use us to defend their worlds and fight in their wars. For generations, our ancestors spilled their blood to a cause they believed was righteous. Yet, over time, that illusion of divinity began to fade. One of our own saw through their falsehoods. It was through this Gilded Heroes actions, that our eyes were finally opened. We killed our Gods then. Their abuse of our people had forged us into mighty warriors, and having reached a peak - they outlived their usefulness to us as a species. So, with our newfound freedom, we took to the stars in search of our grandsire’s dream; a home to call our own. It was then after another generation was spawned amongst the stars, we found what we were looking for. Thyrsus, we called it, and soon after - we became known as the Thyrsians - rather than the Lost and Misguided.

In settling our new homeworld, sequestered within a binary star system, we began to develop a reverence for our Twin Suns; not so far as believing they were gods - but in emulating their ever-present light. We wished to become masters of our skies, and tame the power of our Suns and use them against any, and all who would deny us our rights to live as warriors. Therefore, this desire led us down the path of Solarized Technology; the ionization of light to generate power and weapons. However, these advancements weren’t enough and we needed more to keep true to our newfound ideals. It was as we expanded past the border of our new home, that we found the remnants of dead stars - and the hoard of crystals that were left behind as they drew their last stellar breath. While we had our own name for them at the time, it was later abandoned and forgotten in favour of their true name; Starburst Crystals.”

- Excerpt from Our Path to Power; Volume Two.

Synthetic Starburst Crystals, for a lack of a better name, were artificial facsimiles of their trueborn counterparts. At their core, these artificial copies are collected motes of stardust, combined with a saturated aqueous solution, which then goes through the process of crystallization and subsequent growth. The harvested result is an imperfect reflection of the naturally occurring Kyber crystal, with similar capabilities. While the grown facsimile isn’t capable of generating a coherent Lightsabre beam, due to its quick maturity and significantly short midi-chlorian saturation period, the Crystal is instead utilized in conventional weapons technology to enhance their properties.

As most blasters utilize a focusing crystal to assist in generating a stabilized bolt of plasmatic particles, the synthetic Starburst crystal was easily refined, shaped, and then slotted into the appropriate housing. However, little changed when the first tests began. The first particle bolts generated, when using the synthetic starburst crystal, created an ochre yellow beam that acted exactly how a Blaster was intended - albeit with a marginally higher thermal rating than expected. So, in the aftermath of their preliminary tests, those ancient Thyrsian technicians began rifling through various power sources to find one that would harmonize well with their newborn crystalline creation. It was nearly after a dozen failed trials that those men and women came across the Rylith Crystal; known for its exotic capabilities of collecting and subsequently storing solar energy.

When these two crystalline substances were combined into a single weapons platform, they generated an exotic beam that lanced through a ray-shielded target and began warping the durasteel plating of their target’s armour. While it was far from a working reproduction of the solar ionization cannon that found minor success on the fringes of space, what they created was - in a way - exactly what they envisioned. They had successfully produced an energy weapon that was capable of punching through a projected ray-shield. As they began breaking down their tests and moving towards mass-producing these crystals - the Galaxy found itself assailed by the coming darkness of the Gulag plague.

For nearly five centuries, that research on solarized plasma languished in a long-forgotten deep-space installation, until it was later found by the direct descendants of those ancient technicians; the Sun Guard of the Thyrsian Hierarchy.
