SPECIAL FEATURES

 • A type of kyber crystal, will adapt and adjust to the person wielding it.

 • Made from dying stars, may absorb radiation with ease.

 • On its own it buffs ambient abilities such as valor or inspire.

 • Creates a dense blade, leading to a harder hitting lightsaber.

 • Can effectively deal with ion and electrical energies.

 • Forms a bond with the person wielding it and will break when the person has either perished or fallen to the dark side.

 • Produces above average heat creating a far more intense blade that burns hotter and cuts faster. (Will still have to bite through lightsaber resistant materials, does this at a higher than normal rate, but will still struggle against such materials.)

 • Imbued with Force Light, radiates with light (four foot radius). Dark side aligned force users may feel the ‘sting’ of the light which increases in intensity the closer they are to the crystal. (On a 1-10 scale, feels like a 5 at most, if felt at all, this is up to the writer.)

 • If the person wielding this crystal in their lightsaber turns to the dark side, the crystal will break and will do this either via explosion. (It will essentially heat to the hilt’s melting point and then expand from the inside out to the point it shatters.)

 • If the person wielding it dies, the crystal will begin to crack over time (versus the immediate break as mentioned above). As it cracks it will release a light that ascends and seems to disappear into the aether.
Strengths:

 • Light: A light in the dark, this lightsaber crystal is an ideal choice for Jedi Masters.

 • Radiation: Able to absorb radiation a lot better than most average lightsaber crystals.

 • Buffs: Allows the user to have stronger ambient abilities in short range (close combat, three to seven feet), abilities such as Force Valor or Inspire.

 • Hotter: Creates a blade that burns hotter, with more density than the average kyber crystal.
Weaknesses:

 • Backfire: Should the Jedi wielding this in their lightsaber fall to the darkside, it may blow up in their face.

 • Fragile: While highly resistant to heat and radiation, the refined crystal is rather fragile. Crack open the hilt, grab the crystal and chuck it. Step on it, crush it - easily breaks.

 • Hotter: Burns hotter and due to the refinement process may become unstable, it is recommended to add a vent or at least an emergency vent to the side of the hilt.

 • Cooldown: If no vent is present, it may be best to shut the lightsaber down for at least fifteen to thirty seconds to allow it to cool down.
Notes:

 • Masters: Due to the imbuement of the crystal, it is not recommended for Padawans or Knights, and thus recommended to Jedi Masters.

 • Bonded: Bonds to the individual wielding the lightsaber, adjusting and adapting to that person so much so that if another person were to pick the lightsaber up. It may not be as effective as say an average, run-of-the-mill lightsaber.
DESCRIPTION

One of the last if not the last project that Padawan Mishel Kryze and Master Coren Starchaser worked on together. After Coren’s discovery of the Starburst crystal he wondered if it could be refined even further. The Corellian turned to his student an artifice enthusiast for advice, not knowing that Mishel had not refined a crystal before this.

Together they worked on breaking down several of the heavy crystals.. Pulling from the records of kyber crystals they created two batches the first of which was studied intently both aboard their ship, the Princess Leia and at Mishel’s flat on Geonosis. As they studied the first batch the pair began to notate the properties. The refinement process including utilizing a set of resonant tools to craft the crystals into lighter versions of themselves.

This left the crystals being completely vulnerable to kinetic energy, and slightly vulnerable to sonic charges as well. In exchange there was an increased output in heat, radiation absorption and an increased effectiveness when dealing with ion and electrical energies.

When the refinement was complete the study continued, the crystal’s inherent properties were still there. Which while both Master and Padawan were grateful for they both felt that the crystal could be more. It was then that Mishel proposed imbuing the crystals, and Coren suggested they do this with the second batch since the refinement process would be smoother.

The second batch refined, they were then to be imbued and neither one of them could think of anything better than Force Light. Not only was it a powerful ability but it seemed every other Jedi knew of it anyway so why waste your force reserves. Then it was suggested by Mishel that these crystals be reserved for the Masters. Masters who represented an ideal of one sort or another and thus they developed five of these crystals.

It would be up to Coren to bestow these crystals with the option of taking one for himself. Mishel wished that these Masters represent something regardless of their order, regardless of their role. To her it did not matter if they were a Jedi Sentinel, Consular or Guardian or if they even ascribed to an order at all. They could simply be masters of the light, but it all came down to what they represented to the Jedi and to the light as a whole. The chosen should show compassion, hope, love and have the willpower to match. Above all they had to value life, all life and thus the five values in which Mishel chose were, peace, knowledge, serenity, harmony and heart.

The last value caught Coren off guard and admittedly Coren laughed a little. Mishel chuckled but mentioned that it wasn’t enough to simply be a
lightsider or a Jedi. If your heart isn’t in it then what would it matter? It was then that he realized what she meant and agreed.

To keep the crystals safe, Mishel and Coren took them to Monastery and placed them in a discreet location. Only one other soul knows the location of the crystals and she cannot use them. After the crystals were locked away, Mishel and Coren parted ways for what seemed to be the last time.

Disclaimer: The effects of the crystal are left up to the writers, both the Jedi/Lightsider and their opponen; these effects cannot be forced upon any writer.
