Prince of the Underworld

Small-time gangs and criminal organizations can get away with loose power structures and unclear chains of command, but a galaxy-spanning enterprise such as the Black Sun Syndicate would collapse without a carefully organized caste system. Luckily for Black Sun, their power structure has stood the test of time, tracing back to the glory days of Prince Xizor. Even now, in 902 ABY of the Chaos era, Black Sun remains true to its ancient traditions.

As with any syndicate in the Underworld, Black Sun is not immune to the vast sea of independent contractors saturating the job market. Rather than compete with them or outright eliminate external pressure, Black Sun employs them for a wide array of one-off jobs. These affiliated hirelings are often given missions where plausible deniability is key, enabling both the contractor and Black Sun to work together without the inherent risk of either having their name attached to the job.Character NameSpecialtiesLoyaltiesHand-to-hand combat, boarding action, Mandalorian cultureUnknownContraband procurement, smuggling, artefact appraisal, Force consultationUnknown

At the lowest rung of Black Sun's ladder are the Thugs, little more than urchins and lowlife gangsters but a precious commodity nonetheless. When Black Sun seeks to expand its influence, it is often the street gangs who bend their knee first. Thugs are typically eager to please and tend not to care about who their employers are so long as they get paid, making for excellent cannon fodder and scapegoats when fledged members of the syndicate are in trouble.Character NameSpecialtiesSpice/deathstick dealing, gambling, smugglingSpice dealing, gambling, protection, collection, trigger man, hand to hand

Associates are considered fresh meat within the syndicate, but everyone has to start somewhere. Members at this rank are given small jobs by their superiors often as a test of loyalty, competence, and discretion. They often conduct burglary, extortion, and smuggling operations. Watchful eyes ensure that Associates represent the syndicate well and complete jobs successfully. If they work is found to be satisfactory, they may be ascended to the next level of the caste.Character NameSpecialtiesStarfighter combat, astronavigation, pilot Extraction, sabotage, zero-G tactics, threat assessment, brawling and smugglingMatukai martial artistPilot, mechanic, spacer, smuggler, gambler, gunfighter, pirateCorsair, slave trader, diplomat

Forming a majority of Black Sun's forces are Soldiers. Members at this level are made-men, meaning that they have not only performed well for their Black Sun employers, but they've drawn blood on behalf of the syndicate. Being a Soldier is a badge of honor for some and a crying shame for others, marking either the true beginning of a career with Black Sun or the start of a bitter enslavement. Regardless of the conditions of their ascension, Soldiers are the backbone of Black Sun and undertake a wide variety of missions for the syndicate.Character NameSpecialtiesMandalorian Super Commando

Black Sun's Enforcers act as regional cell leaders and mission handlers. They are responsible for delegating jobs to their underlings and making decisions at the local level regarding Black Sun activities. Though Black Sun may lack in a formal battle fleet, it has something far more deadly: Boarders. These vicious warriors come from a variety of backgrounds from smugglers and spicers to pirates and slavers. They form the crew of Black Sun's picket fleets, small and dangerous mobilizations that strike hard and fast. When engaging enemy fleets, Boarders target vital systems such as shields, engines, and life support. When those have been disabled, they breach enemy vessels and overwhelm them from the inside.Character NamesSpecialties-

Some members of Black Sun are born killers. Their talents with blasters and blades are far superior and would be wasted if they were sent on run-of-the-mill jobs. Instead, these Assassins are given a much more fitting duty: professional contract killing. Black Sun Assassins are usually deployed as lone wolves, but sometimes work in pairs or small squads depending on the value of their targets. They are deadly agents who make use of a wide variety of armaments to dispatch enemies of Black Sun, ranging from opposing politicians and military leaders to rival crime lords and even rogue agents.Character NameSpecialtiesBounty hunting, assassination, infiltration, reconBounty hunter, assassin, infiltration, reconAssassination, spying, infiltrationJedi hunting, sharpshooting, slicing, infiltrationAssassination, infiltration, recon, skullduggery, counterintelligence, countersurveillance, stalking, slicingAsymmetrical warfare, HVT, propaganda, sabotage, subversion

Chroniclers are charismatic charlatans who act as informants and propagandists. Always watching, the Chroniclers are adepts at both recording Black Sun's legacy and rewriting events to elevate the syndicate and undermine galactic intelligence networks. They often fill their pockets with slicer cells, hacktivist groups, underworld newsfeeds, and even unknowing agents from within government intelligence agencies. Where there is a Chronicler, there are usually encrypted data-vaults of past operations, betrayals, alliances, and blood-debts.Character NameSpecialtiesCounter-intelligence

Invaluable to the operation and expansion of Black Sun are its Advisors, a prestigious cadre of majordomos who work as power brokers for the syndicate. They are meticulous strategists, political liaisons, and financial architects who shape the long game of galactic crime. While their underlings bloody their hands on backwater planets across the Outer Rim, Advisors wage war in corporate offices and senatorial backchannels. Many of Black Sun's Advisors were once bankers, lobbyists, or intelligence officers who a brighter future through darker lenses.Character NameSpecialtiesMajordomo; piracy, bounty contractsPoaching, slythmonging, slaving, viceChop shops, ship theft, getaway speeders, prison breaksInfoBroker-

At the top of Black Sun is the Underlord himself, the undisputed apex of the syndicate's sprawling criminal empire. The Underlord operates from the shadows, commanding the Galactic Underworld through an intricate and untraceable web of influence that spans from the Core to the Outer Rim. He operates with the intellect of a master tactician, balancing brutal enforcement with strategic alliances. Little is known about him, but few dare to question his motives. The mere mention of the Underlord is often enough to tighten lips and holster blasters, because anyone who's anyone knows: when Black Sun moves, it moves at the Underlord's will.
