- Inexpensive: STX-TIEs are rather easy and inexpensive to manufacture in large numbers thanks to the starfighter's extensive use of pre existing parts
- High performing: The STX-TIE retains excellent speed and maneuverability despite its "ugly" heritage, allowing it to keep pace with most comparable starfighters
- Compact: The STX-TIE is a relatively compact design, making the vessel more difficult to target at long ranges
- Boost: The STX-TIE can temporarily increase its speed and maneuverability thanks to its SLAM and PIMS (Proprietary Internal Maneuverability Systems) subsystems
- Fragile: Even with deflector shields equipped, the STX-TIE is relatively fragile and unable to take many hits during combat
- No hyperdrive: The STX-TIE does not come equipped with any sort of hyperdrive system, forcing the vessel to rely on other ships for long range transportation
- Maintenance heavy: Like many Mahporeenian designs, the STX-TIE requires spare parts from multiple models of different ships
- Limited boost: The STX-TIE can only engage its SLAM and PIMS subsystems a certain number of times during active combat
Unsatisfied with the performance of their legacy TIE Fighters, the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant decided to upgrade them with AT-ST and X-Wing parts, creating the STX-TIE "Ugly" Starfighter. Much like its predecessor, the STX-TIE was designed as a fast moving, highly maneuverable space superiority fighter. It is able to achieve this due to the fact that the STX-TIE uses both TIE engines and X-Wing engines at the same time.
The STX-TIE also boasts a number of advanced features, such as a proprietary engine boosting system that runs off AT-ST power cells. When engaged, the engine booster system will allow the STX-TIE to drastically increase its speed at the expense of its maneuverability and vice versa, though each craft is only able to boost a certain number of times before requiring new power cells.
The STX-TIE is also quite fragile, having only a modestly strong deflector shield and weak hull armor, and only possess an anemic armament system of two laser cannons and two concussion missile launchers. The STX-TIE, like most other TIE Fighters, works best in large numbers, swarming enemy targets before they have a chance to react or fight back.
