SPECIAL FEATURES
  • The Stryder's Electrotendrils function much like low-end Force Pikes - they are able to stun or kill and their vibro-edged tips are well-suited for exploiting gaps in armour or even outright penetrating certain types of light armour plating; the tendrils are not lightsaber resistant, however. Thanks to a bit of clever engineering, they double as slicing tools, though neither hardware nor software is sufficient to brute force advanced systems.
STRENGTHS
  • Inhuman: Stryders are not burdened by the flaws of sentience - quivering fingers will not impede their accuracy, primal fear will not force a route, and empathy will not prevent the precise termination of enemy targets. Unlike organic soldiers, they stand ready for battle the moment they leave the assembly lines, can safely be expended without political incident, and are easily recyclable should they fall in battle.
  • Durable: Built to withstand exotic environments and brutal battlefields alike, Stryders can operate near-optimally in the icy wastes of Hoth, the blistering sands of Tatooine, and even outer space; they are far from invulnerable but are generally able to tank several blaster bolts before going down and are far less vulnerable to ionic weapons and EMPs than most droids on account of their tridurium chassis.
  • Mobile: Faster and more agile than most humanoid battle droids, Stryders are able to rapidly reposition themselves on the battlefield and are outfitted with rocket boosters that allow them to boost their jumps, briefly fly, and even be airdropped into battle!
WEAKNESSES
  • Inhuman: Stryders are capable enough in terms of unit tactics but lack the creativity of organics and their ability to question flawed orders.
  • Lightsabers: Lightsabers and similarily powerful weapons will make short work of Stryders. Slice and dice, Master Jedi, slice and dice.
  • Warforged: Stryders are forged for war and war alone - they have no vocabulators, no social programming, and no ability to make use of tools outside of opening doors and basic slicing (usually to open doors). They can be used as security droids, but lack the social skills for anything more advanced than blinking menacingly and emitting screeching sounds when someone comes close to fulfilling their "engagement criteria".
DESCRIPTION
Commissioned by the Erakhian Federation as part of an initiative to modernised its defence forces, the Stryder is a weapon first and only; the initial design was little more than a gun with legs though the demands of the military and the perfectionism of TriTech's engineers lead to more and more functions being added until they had created a truly lethal predator, albeit one that was not quite as cheap as a fully-equipped S1 Battle Droid, let alone the initial concept.

Despite this, it was cheap enough for mass-production, the enormous factories of the Federation churning out vast numbers of Stryders to compensate for their relative lack of organic soldiers and laws that only permit conscription "if the very existence of the Federation and its constituents is threatened by a severe and pressing external threat"; TriTech, too, began the mass-production of this new battle droid...

... for in this turbulent age, weapons of war were more profitable than ever and TriTech was oh-so-eagre to claim their piece of the cake; so successful was this endeavour that mere hours after the official reveal manufacturing rights were sold to the Sith Empire.
