ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS

Carrier: The Strigoi is capable of carrying large quantities of fighters and landers for its size, and just one of these vessels can siege a lightly-defended city.

Jack of All Trades: The Strigoi's armament is diverse, and it is equally capable of tackling larger vessels in numbers as it is of supporting the fighters it launches with point-defense batteries.

WEAKNESSES

Master of None: The Strigoi can neither easily win a duel with a similar sized ship alone, nor protect its fleet quite so gracefully as a dedicated picket vessel. These ships rely heavily on larger vessels or numbers to defend them from concentrated firepower.

Poorly Armored: While it possesses formidable redundant shielding like many other Helix Solutions vessels, the center of the vessel is soft and gooey, and it will quickly crumble under fire should the shields fail.

Space Brick: The Strigoi handles like a barn door, neither especially fast nor sharp on the turn.

DESCRIPTION

Finding an early need for a cheap, reliable vessel to ferry its forces from world to world, Helix would create and field the Strigoi-Class Multipurpose Light Cruiser, a vessel that lived up to its name.

Having replaced the Munificent's super-heavy turbolaser with an enormous, double-barreled heavy mass driver, and retaining that vessel's impressive light turbolaser array, the Strigoi is quite capable of engaging enemy warships, putting out a reasonable amount of firepower for its weight class. It is not unheard of for three or four of these vessels to topple a ship many times their own size.

The Strigoi's primary virtue, though, lies in its fighter complement. Carrying large numbers of droid fighters folded in the numerous hollow spaces of its skeletal body, the sight of this vessel is a harbinger of a dedicated fighter assault.

Additionally, the vessel possesses multiple redundant backup thermal shields, similar to the larger Vourdalak class, and while far flimsier than that vessel can survive a surprising beating before falling.

Should its shields fail, however, the Strigoi's armor and skeletal, hollow body will fold under fire just as quickly as its predecessor.
