DESCRIPTION

The Storm Ranger units were created in 902ABY at the dawn of the Dark Empire to provide special operations capabilities to the Stormtrooper Corps. The small units were equipped with troopers who passed a demanding selection process designed to identify individuals with the intelligence, grit and determination to conduct near-impossible missions far behind enemy lines with limited support. Storm Rangers operate in small units and are typically employed to conduct direct action raids, capturing high-value targets, vessel seizures, special reconnaissance, personnel recovery, clandestine insertion, site exploitation, and close protection of high-ranking officials. While they answer through the special operations chain of command, rumour has it that the Storm Rangers ultimately answer directly to the Dark Emperor himself.

The Trade Federation was commissioned by the Imperial Tribunal to develop specialised armour to enable the Strom Rangers to complete their delicate missions. Experts at Liquity Textiles developed the proprietary Acertron-Impervium-Sedrellium alloy armour plating to provide superior protection, which was doubled with advanced technologies to protect against energy and kinetic threats. The armour was given its distinctive green colouration to identify the elite units, inspiring esprit de corps among its wears and dread among their enemies.

Storm Rangers have been deployed to devastating effect during the opening stages of the Dark Empire’s invasion of the Core, including Operation Shadow Hand.
