So what going on with the Strategic Intelligence Service? I joined there but I have yet to take part in any missions there. Is it dead or are there any plans for it or something?

Uh I don't think there's been anything officially done or anything ran by a person. But when invasions happen/Dominions I've rp'd as an agent with others on an objective. I write as an agent, but I do my own thing etc.

Can we do a thing? I'm not an official SIS agent or anything, but I imagine they would work with Rebel types in clandestine operations. I have some ideas for threads.

As Ally said, historically the SIS hasn't had a ton of exclusive threads, they are more a tool/category we use in other Alliance threads whenever we want to do spy type things. The group does have a leader, at least OOC, which is [member="Aela Talith"], though like the rest of us her involvement ebbs and flows.
We've always (at least I have) written agents as operating more or less on their own, so you are absolutely fine to just RP an agent in more general GA threads like some others already do, but I also don't think the idea of an SIS themed faction thread is a bad idea at all!

Still around. Doing secret intelligent things off on my own. Sneaking around, shooting bad guys, sabotaging imperial schemes, etc.

Good to hear that SIS is not entirely dead because I really want to partake in some espionage. Also good to know that someone has ideas for it too. I only wish we start one asap.

As Kiyron said, there is a spycraft focused skirmish with the TSE that just got started. I am a little involved with the event for the moment but I'm still planning on dropping in with Deacon at the first opportunity.
