Character Starlin Juniperus Dinn

STARLIN JUNIPERUS DINN
From Chaos, Calm

Starlin was born between a set of twins and a set of quadruplets, and as such he grew up feeling like an outsider. Where the others had their blood bonds forged in the waters of the womb, he often found himself alone even in a sea of siblings. Quiet, attentive, and curious, he took after his father's inquisitiveness and love of books, though rather than cloistering himself away in a library or workshop Starlin most often took his studies to the water's edge.
He was raised to believe himself a living God, dubbed Inakhos by the people of Zaathru who saw him as a living embodiment of their planet's rivers and rain - a giver of life in his own way, they would claim.
As a small boy of just five, shortly after the birth of the quads, Starlin visited the great city of Mercuitie alongside his Father. A bustling city of trade and peace, nestled within the oasis of an otherwise brutal and lifeless desert, Mercuitie was rife with waterways and towering ziggurats. To a young Starlin it was like nowhere else he had ever seen, and he felt instantly, maddeningly in love. There were no weapons within the city walls, save those held by the loyal guard, the streets were kept clean, and life sprung out of nothing.
It was supposed to be a very brief visit, the boy was given just a day to explore and spent it in the company of his 'Uncle Darien', the Contra-Usul, and his consort, marveling at the water gardens at the heart of the great ziggurat and playing with the consorts petite dragon. When morning came, however, there was no trace left of his Father. Their riverboat, Daywing, remained within the city's bustling port, entire crew accounted for, and his father's strange compass was later found within his nightstand, but otherwise? Nothing.
Weeks passed during which time transmissions were sent out alongside search parties to no avail. Arcturus Dinn was gone, his family was left crumbling, and Starlin found himself alone in Mercuitie.
It was here that Starlin spent his formative years, a ward of the Contra-Usul Darien Cordel Darien Cordel who saw fit to shelter him in the absence of both parents. In truth it was largely Darien's consort, Prince Theryn Hearthfire Theryn Hearthfire , who saw to his daily needs by way of a rotating slew of attendants and nannies, for Darien had no real love of company, and in the continuous peace of Mercuitie's towering walls the boy once destined for darkness was left to blossom and bloom. Theryn was a wonderful mentor, he was carefree and daring, he taught Starlin to be gentle without risking his own safety or boundaries, and helped the boy to develop his innate connection with the waterways of Zaathru.
He did not, however, indulge the notion that Starlin was a God. Theryn wanted the boy to be raised grounded in reality, and in time talks of Inakhos faded from the ziggurat even if the natives still made whispers of his Godhood under their breath.
As such it was a relatively normal upbringing that awaited Starlin as the ward of Mercuitie, one free from the technological wonders of the larger Galaxy, without the indoctrination of his wider family, and with little in the way of true strife.
Then one day, in his teens, Starlin dared to explore more of the Ziggurat he called home than he had permission to. In Darien's private wing he discovered a strange archway that called out to him, thrumming with a music no one else seemed to hear. He studied it for some time, before daring to pass beneath it. In truth he had only intended on studying it from the other side, but instead he felt a lurching in his stomach as the world around him shifted, expanded, shrank... then spat him out again.
Only it was not the floor of Uncle Darien's private wing that cushioned his fall, but the cold, harsh duracrete of a hangar.
Before him lay a beautiful yet dormant ship which looked to him like the jellyfish Uncle Theryn had shown him images of as a boy, though beyond that the hangar lay empty. With nowhere else to go, he approached the ship and upon resting his hand to the hull that same thrum of life and music which had led him to the archway pulsed through the vessel. It lit up, systems engaging at once, and the boarding ramp lowered to permit him entry. Onboard he was met by a piloting droid who had seen better days, an oddity to a boy who had been raised around organic lifeforms for as long as he could recall.
Starlin was not given the luxury of adjusting, exploring, or even asking questions, before the ramp lifted and the ship maneuvered from the hangar bay out into the greater Galaxy. He has no idea of what awaits him, nor does he know where he came from in order to return home. It seems as though the ship has a mind of its own, and a destination in mind.
Starlin is the third born child of Arcturus Dinn Arcturus Dinn and Darth Miasma Darth Miasma

RELATIONSHIPS
From Passion, Growth
FAMILY | Biological/Immediate
  • Arcturus Dinn Arcturus Dinn | Father
    • As a child, Arcturus was Starlin's whole world and the pair were known for going everywhere together. Arcturus abandoned Starlin in the City of Mercuitie, under the care of Darien and Theryn, when he was just five years old, and now Starlin holds resentment toward him. Even so, the boy misses him.
  • Rhiannon Dinn / Darth Miasma Darth Miasma | Mother
    • Rhiannon has always been a flippant and neglectful mother, focused more on her relationship with her wayward husband than her gaggle of children. Though Starlin has not seen her since he was five years old, he still recalls her abusive and alcoholic tendencies, and he has no desire to be reunited with her.
  • Eloise Dinn Eloise Dinn | Eldest Sister
    • Eloise is the twin sister of the late Marcus Dinn, with a strong moral compass and an admittedly hot head. She is the only one of his siblings Starlin has been reunited with so far, and their exchange was less than savoury. Starlin is resentful that none of his siblings knew that he was missing and thought to seek him out, and as the eldest and only one he has met Eloise unintentionally bears the brunt of that. As of now, the pair have no desire to continue contact.
  • Marcus Dinn | Eldest Brother, Deceased
    • Marcus was the twin brother of Eloise Dinn. While Starlin has fond memories of his older brother, he has not seen him since he was five years old and has no idea that he is dead. He is one of the few biological family members Starlin would have sought a relationship with, as his other siblings were just babies when he was abandoned in Mercuitie.
  • Caspian Dinn Caspian Dinn | Younger Brother
    • Caspian was the first of the quadruplets born when he was a tyke. Though Starlin remembers doting upon him and loving him, Caspian was just a one year old when Starlin disappeared. They have no real relationship, and Starlin has no desire to dredge up that part of his past any time soon.
  • Julian Dinn | Younger Brother
    • Julian was the second of the quadruplets born, and as with Caspian Starlin remembers loving him, however he has no strong memories or connections to this day. There is no real desire to meet him any time soon.
  • Altrea Dinn | Younger Sister
    • Altrea is the third of the quadruplets, and Starlin's relationship with her mirrors the other two quads.
  • Persephone Dinn Persephone Dinn | Younger Sister
    • Persephone is the fourth of the quadruplets, and Starlin's relationship with her mirrors the other three quads.

FAMILY | Biological/Extended
  • Toloth Threepwood | Maternal Grandfather
    • Starlin has no relationship with Toloth, the pair have never met.
  • Charisse Threepwood | Maternal Grandmother
    • Starlin has no relationship with Charisse, the pair have never met.
  • Ganner Threepwood | Maternal Uncle
    • Starlin has no relationship with Ganner, the pair have never met.
FAMILY | Adoptive
  • Darien Cordel Darien Cordel | Adoptive Parent/Uncle/Guardian
    • Darien raised Starlin alongside his partner, Theryn, after Starlin was abandoned in his City. Starlin absolutely adores his 'Uncle', and views him more like a Father than anything. Darien is the Contra-Usul of Mercuitie, and he had a very good influence on Starlin, teaching him about manners, decorum, and high society life.
  • Theryn Hearthfire Theryn Hearthfire | Adoptive Parent/Uncle/Guardian
    • Theryn raised Starlin alongside his partner, Darien, after Starlin was abandoned in his care. Starlin has openly called Theryn Daddy/Papa over the years, though only in private, and these days he views him more as his Father than he does Arcturus. Theryn taught Starlin how to live in the moment, and has nurtured within him a love of living things, a strong moral compass, and calming techniques.
  • Rhysion Talon / Darth Empyrean Darth Empyrean | Adoptive Paternal Grandfather
    • Rhysion is Arcturus' adoptive Father, though Starlin has never met him.
  • Srina Talon Srina Talon | Adoptive Paternal Grandmother
    • Srina is Arcturus' adoptive Mother, though Starlin has never met her.
  • The Hearthfire Clan
    • Theryn's extended family have embraced Starlin's role as Theryn's adopted child, though they have not met him and only heard tell of him through Theryn. Starlin is eager to meet them now that he is out in the Galaxy.
ASSOCIATES | Jedi/Faction
  • Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el | Jedi Master
    • Jasper has taken Starlin under his wing, and is overseeing his training. Starlin is not yet sure if it is in a truly official capacity, and as such he refers to Jasper as Mister Jasper as opposed to Master. He is grateful for Jasper's patience and expertise, and hopes to prove himself worthy of the man's time.
  • Braze Braze | Friend
    • Starlin genuinely enjoys Braze's company, and is more his carefree self in the Echani's presence. He finds the man endearing and easy on the eyes, and hopes to spend more time with him going forward.
  • Novac Lyrikal Novac Lyrikal | Potential Friend
    • Starlin has not spent an extended amount of time with Novac, but he enjoys the man's company and hopes to train alongside him.
  • Starlin Rand Starlin Rand | Namesake
    • Starlin Rand was Arcturus' best friend for a time, so much so that Star was named after him. The pair briefly met, but it was an awkward encounter and unlikely to be repeated.
  • Jonyna Si Jonyna Si | Mentor
    • Jonyna gave Starlin some insight into better controlling his water powers, and in time the pair may cross paths again.
ASSOCIATES | Other
  • Lyra Ventor Lyra Ventor | Friend
    • Lyra was one of the first people Starlin met in the wider Galaxy, and her presence was a blessing. She taught Starlin how to fly and maintain his ship, and also gave him some much needed company. Though the pair may never see one another again, he still views her as a valued friend.
