Orion had strolled in earlier, sitting at a small circular table in the corner. His attire didn't match that of his battle garments. Instead, he wore a nice black button up with black dress pants. Unfortunately for him, he ordered a small basket of Bantha wings. The smell was too difficult to fight off while debating what lot he wanted to partake in. People were throwing credits at many of the choices presented, but only one really enticed him.
He looked down at the tangy sauce from the wings. The saucy pool that began to build on the wax paper below, struck an idea. He lifted the tiny paper given to him. The auction was careful not to leave anyone in the dark about what they were buying, except for two mysterious offers. Lot O caught his eye before and the wings that sat in front of him, provided an even better idea. Throughout his travels he acquired many interesting items and resources. One of them would be beneficial to the MandalArms shop. In fact, if they really wanted, he could provide Beskar for them if he won. How that would translate to a custom made weapon was beyond him. Maybe, if Orion threw it into the mix he would get more out of it.
He realized two others were fighting over both lots that MandalArms offered. Instead, of splitting what he had to offer, he locked his sights on the prize.
Lot O.
Orion stood, his pale face stepping out from the dark corner of the room. He lifted his hand high, before catching the auctioneers attention. His voice slipped out with a confidence that many would eventually sneer at.
"Lot O, I will provide Beskar if necessary! On top of that I offer a solid 19,000 credits for the beneficiary of MandalArms!"
He quietly sat back down and began to dig into the finely baked Bantha Wings. The spicy kick stung his mouth, only to be eased by a smokey aftertaste that he couldn't resist.

  • A highly advanced Sasori Saw for handling the strongest materials in the galaxy

Matsu saw the queen mother and her bid for something was... damn she would have went for it but nodded her head. She was liking the things from the hive.. well okay it had merrill within the name. That usually meant a level of quality and Jorus made things for interesting purposes at times. She was looking at them and once the update came in they were still open to bids. She put them in going through what they had to offer and a chance to see what that lighthouse could do or what it could be used for. She would just have to hook it up to one of their quintessence reactors to power it. That should be able to handle the power needs and then she would need to find a location for it.

Well, that was interesting. It would seem like Orion was joining this little competition. Chuckling slightly to himself, he figured that this ought to involve less stabbing than their previous encounter... unless the ruffian from earlier got any ideas. Frankly, he had no idea how much Beskar was really worth, only that the Mandalorians seemed to be up to their armpits in it, building everything from armour to droids and even ships with it. Still, he ought not to bid too low. Who knows, the savages might be running out, what with them losing a bunch every time they got themselves killed off world without being able to collect their own. "30.000 for lot O. Lot O."

Of course, the real game was what he would be able to snatch up without making anyone aware of his efforts. Typing out a short message on his wrist link, he asked a slight favour from a Muun he knew was attending the auction. The third cousin of his company's director of finance, to be exact. The connection would be pretty obvious later, of course, but that hardly mattered. He just wanted to keep attention on his bids on the MandalArms lots, and away from his far greater interest in Sasori's lots. Soon enough, the bids of 5.000 credits each for Lot B and Lot C would trickle in, with the Muun listed as the bidder.

Ugohr Poof

The Traveling Gungan Salesman
"Itsa time to strike back! 20,000 credits for Lot A, 7,500 credits for Lot B, 7,500 credits for Lot C"

The Gungan would then be making three bids simultaneously but he still intends to make out a bargain out of this auction. Even if it wasn't out of the lots he first bid on. Maybe, when mesa time arrives, mesa bidden on one of Lots E, J and M, but issa not a given, he thought, while realizing that PVS was now allied with the GA, while he used to regard PVS as First Order-affiliated. But there was still about two more hours before the bidding would stop, and sniping was key. He'd rather wait until the final seconds to play out his remaining cards, but maybe he could bid all of one meal on a ship if he was lucky. [member="Adrian Vandiir"] having beaten him the first time would not be the first time: it was something he expected.

It would seem the creature was bidding real credits this time. How annoying. He usually enjoyed a bit of a challenge, but not at the expense of his force-related ventures. He doubted a creature like that had the brains to stop when he was ahead, no, the time for subtlety had passed.

"60.000 credits for Lot A. Lot A." He had no intention of letting this slip through his fingers, nor, for that matter, the other Sasori items. The cap he had given the Muun had not yet been reached, so he would be expecting a new bid any time soon.... and there it was. 15.000 for Lot B, and 15.000 for Lot C. Right on time.

[member="Ugohr Poof"]

Orion wasn't paying attention before, the young man that stood to counter his offer was Adrian Vandiir. A formidable opponent in the arena. Apparently, he had a knack for other activities outside combat. Orion was displeased with the quick counter. With little thought he bit into the savory flavor of meat. His fingers were drenched in the saucy delicacy as he stood. Grabbing a napkin and wiping his mouth free from any residual food, he twisted his fingers into the fabric. Clean and capable of another offer he shouted it out while looking toward Adrian.
"I'll match his offer with the Beskar!" Orion licked his lips, the taste still lingering from his meal. "To be more specific twenty-five thousand credits, and the aforementioned Beskar!"
Orion wouldn't allow the prize to slip through his fingers. Not when the others were in several other bids. This one would be his. He had the credits to continue if the auction demanded more. He hoped it wouldn't reach a ridiculous amount. Sitting back down he took a sip of his drink and began to indulge, once more.

Ugohr Poof

The Traveling Gungan Salesman
"Yousa not given up, and mesa commend yoursa tenacity. However, 100,000 credits on lot A, 50,000 credits on Lot B, and 50,000 credits on Lot C"

Hair issa mesa chance to milk him-sa for all hesa worth, and perhaps make him-sa lose maxibig. Mesa not give up on all dee of Lots A through C, even though mesa know disen moolah issa better used for somethin maxibig dat mesa think mesa get at a maxibig bargain, he thought, while not acknowledging defeat pertaining to Lots A, B and C, and not letting [member="Adrian Vandiir"] get away with those goods without a fight: he wasn't just lured by the promise of a bargain. Also, he had to remain mindful of the winner's curse: the winner's curse is a thing he knew he couldn't just ignore. And maybe getting a picket corvette for 10,000 credits would end up being a bargain, while probably not as maxibig as bidding the value of essentially one meal on a X-Wing, would still be a basement-level bargain. Time was running out and hopefully he could actually get those bargains he perceived as maxibig, hoping that Adrian would not have any interest in the spacecraft in question. He had one card left to play regarding these two lots, and he hoped he could get both lots, while he was on the clock. These two lots may prove to be a maxibig bargain, a pretty sweet revenge if he failed to land Lots A-C:

"Una Skor cake, una extra-large bowl of Phu pho and una serving of Liberty fries for Lot E. And mesa bid 10,000 credits on Lot J"

"Lot A. 150.000 for Lot A."

Damn it all, he would not give up so easily. Swearing slightly under his breath, he consolidated his bidding on A. The others were secondary, after all. All of it was secondary. Except for that bag. He had never been able to resist the lure of new knowledge. If he got nothing else here today, he would at least have that. Even if it cost him a king's ransom.

Scoffing slightly at the Gungan, he kept a close eye on the current bid as the deadline approached. He would go even higher if he had to, though he sincerely hoped it didn't come to that. He could afford it, of course, but spending too much on one item never ended well. There was always something else around the corner. Something egregiously expensive, most likely.

[member="Allana Badeaux"]

Needless to say, it was a good thing that Saffron had been trained to keep her expression friendly and neutral. Now this was a surprise. With a slight widening of her eyes, Saffron gave a small inclination of her head in respect to Allana.

"It is an honor to have you here, Ta’a Chume." the Hapans were notoriously isolationists. That Hapen Royalty was here was a tremendous honor.

"I can only hope you are enjoying yourself at the Expo?" for certain she would already have security around her. Saffron gave a slight glance around to see if she could pick up anyone.

The auction moved fast, and before she knew it, Allana had in fact won the item she had bid for.

"Congratulations are in order." Saffron said with a smile.

"How does it feel?"

Allana Badeaux

Ta’a Chume – Queen Mother
Two of the Royal Guard members that had accompanied her today were not standing too far away. Allana had them stand a bit back during the auction. It was just a friendly auction and she did not wish to appear as if she was trying to bully anyone.

Allana’s lips had parted showing her delight. “Thank you Miss Saffron”, Allana said while pulling up the auction details on the Kirehe-type Heavy Frigate. The stats she called up on the Frigate were the buyer’s information on the Gemcutter system on board the Kirehe.

If Saffron was familiar with the Transitory Mists Allana’s interest in Gemcutter technology might be a little confusing. The solar ionization coming from the pink mists made cloaking technology unpredictable and made it near useless. Not to mention one could not drop out of hyperspace directly into the Mists. The need for this tech directly inside the Mists did not make sense.

“It feels very good”, her lips moved into a slight curl. The smirk she wore is because she had got what she wanted. There were some other systems on this ship she wanted. The Gemcutter was important to an idea she had.

“Congratulations are in order for you as well Miss Saffron”, Allana looked back up to Saffron. “As for the Expo I have been enjoying myself. I’ve meet some pretty interesting people today. People from places I’ve only studied.”

A thought had just occurred to Allana, “Has the Arceneau Trade Company ever used Gemcutter technology or equivalent tech?”

[member="Saffron"]

[member="Allana Badeaux"]
Sorry so late! Super busy this week :)

"Thank you," Saffron replied, inclining her head. At the mention of gemcutter technology, Saffron gave a slight pause, thinking back on what Arceneau Trade or its affiliates have done.

"We have done research into something similar in the past. We were lucky enough to be able to find the original kyber crystals from the Death Star II years back. Along with ongoing research in stealth and cloaking abilities, we've been expanding it."

Glancing over to the young woman, she gave a curious expression, "Are you interested in a vessel with gemcutter technology, your majesty?"

Allana Badeaux

Ta’a Chume – Queen Mother
Kyber crystals from the second Death Star? Allana’s eyes were slightly winded in surprise when she heard that. The Death Star was a very horrible thought. Being able to blow up entire planets and killing trillions of life forms was a horrible thought. The thoughts and surprise receded once Saffron spoke of that tech moving into cloaking technology. She was surprised that this was where cloaking technology started from? It was not as if the Hapens needed planet killers or cloaking technology. Cloaking tech just did not work well in the mists and they hardly venture out. Why would they need it?

“It is one of the reasons I placed a bid upon it. This is not technology that was really needed in the Transitory Mists. It is a technology the galaxy uses. I’m trying to understand. That and I did have an idea”, Allana felt like it was fine to mention her idea.

“I was not thinking of a ship with gemcutter technology. I was thinking of two space stations just within the Transitory Mists but at both entrances. The gemcutter sensor array would not be for within the Mists. It would be a straight long range senor that could pick up cloaked ships outside of the Transitory Mists. It could be a healthy deterrent to end possible conflict. It is difficult to get into the Mists already. I personally would not mind friendly visits. It is the unfriendly people who link to bomb people’s homes that I’m concerned with.”

Increasing the early detection system at the gates would increase the Royal navy’s ability to protect the Consortium. The idea of this was not violence. The idea was to end violence before it even happens, a deterrent for those who wished to inflict harm.

[member="Saffron"]

[member="Allana Badeaux"]

Now that was an idea. Saffron gave a slight pause, mulling that over. Interesting. "We have not done something like that in practice, however, the technology exists to counter it. Gemcutters are millennia old, and there have certainly been methods that have created ways to detect them."

Haven shipyards also produced stations.

"We could create this sensor for you. The Station as well. Are you intending it to be solely used for automated detection or defense as well?"

Allana Badeaux

Ta’a Chume – Queen Mother
Allana took a small moment to think over the questions. This was a big move out sourcing work like this. Not every Duch’a would agree to this. She knew that. However The Consortium had needs. Those needs that they could not afford to fall back on defense of the Consortium.

“I would like if they could be able to defend themselves”, Allana made a choice not everyone would agree with. “They would be sitting in a position where trouble is expected. The logistics of the technology would make them a target as well. So I do not see this as a civilian platform. It would have to be a military asset.”

[member="Saffron"]

[member="Allana Badeaux"]

Saffron gave a small nod. "I see. A defensive platform with the capabilties to detect gemcutter technology along with anything similiar. With the Transient mists, I expect that it would be hard enough to navigate into much the less spot them. You would have a natural stealth defense then."

A pause.

"Let me see what I can draw up for you. Are there any other key items that you'd like? A hanger for deployment or would that fall more to your defensive fleet?"

[member="Allana Badeaux"]

"It depends." Saffron admitted," Although it is always a nice thing to have a complement of starfighters. However, this could be fulfilled with a patrol fleet. I am sure you already have those on hand if required."

"For example with our own stations, we emphasize defense and triple redundant shields. We also consider reinforcing the hull with triple layers like Agrinium, Matrix armor, and Alusteel. We can make these stations defensive fortresses if attacked."
