GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Spirit Muzzle
  • Origins: Veradune
  • Other Locations: None as of yet
  • Classification: Flower
  • Average Growth Cycle: Spirit Muzzle Takes approximately five months to fully grow and flower, after which, the petals will remain for approximately three months.
  • Viability: Spirit Muzzle Requires soil high in nutrients to grow and a moderate amount of water. In terms of heat and sunlight, it is relatively hardy being able to grow all year round, being unable to flower only on the coldest and darkest days of the year.
  • Description: A tall flowering plant, Spirit Muzzle has red bell-like flowers that grow down the main stem during its flowering period, and a leafy green base from which a single main stalk grows.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Average Height: 45 Cm.
  • Average Length: N/A
  • Color: Green leaves and stalk. Red flowers.
  • Nutritional Value: Can be made into a somewhat nutritional tea
  • Toxicity: N/A
  • Other Effects: If brewed into a tea and ingested, a cup of Spirit Muzzle will block one’s ability to use the force for approximately 3 days. If injected to the bloodstream, the effects will only last approximately thirty minutes but will also render a person unable to be sensed in the force, similar to the Yuuzhan Vong.
  • Distinctions: Easily spotted due to its tall stalk which gets covered by red bell shaped flowers, Spirit Muzzle gets its name from its toxic properties. While harmless to non force users, the flowers of the spirit muzzle, which brewed into a tea, will deafen a person to the force, making them unable to sense or use it for an extended period of time. As many wilders regard the force as the “spirit of nature”, they have taken to calling the plant, the spirit muzzle for the way that it silences the force.
A hardy plant with deep roots, Spirit Muzzle can survive in most temperate climates with its stalk and leaves only dying in harsh environments such as freezing cold or drought. The crimson flowers in ideal conditions last approximately three months before fading from red to a dull pink and falling off. Once the flowers have faded they may still be used as a force suppressant, though their effectiveness dramatically drops, lasting a day at most.

Once the petals of the Spirit muzzle fall off, they will regrow in approximately two months. Each flower can be used to brew a single cup of tea. The tea, once brewed, is distinctive in its bright red coloration, as well as its bold flavor which carries a touch of sweetness.
Strengths:
  • Unique use makes it viable for commercial growth
  • Can be grown year round
  • Pretty to look at
  • Can be used to shut down force users
Weaknesses:
  • Can be killed by extreme cold or drought
  • Can be easily crushed, cut, or damaged
  • Flower must be brewed into a tea to have force nullifying effects
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Wilders on Veradune have often used Spirit Muzzle for ritual practices to get closer to nature by removing their ability to control it. In Veradune’s more secular society, force sensitive Zorrens often drink the Spirit Muzzle tea to deaden themselves to the force during their month-long trials which necessitate spending a month enduring the hardships of surviving in the wilds.

In modern times, Spirit Muzzle tea has been brewed in Veradune’s prisons where any force sensitive criminals might be held, and is served to them in place of water to ensure that they are unable to use the force against guards in a fight or in attempts to escape. While by no means a meal replacement, Spirit Muzzle’s pleasant taste and nutritional value make it a safe, humane, and healthy option.
