  • Accessibility: The Spice Mines of Kessel is probably the most famous mine all across the Galaxy due to it's mythology and it's production of Spice.

POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Labor Camps: This is where Spice is commonly found and where slaves are quartered. Security lines the walls of each camp that are situated in various quadrants across the planet Kessel.
  • Refinement Centres: These places are where extracted Spice is transported and turned into product. When the spice is ready for distribution off-world they are brought to be transported off-planet to other locations across the Galaxy.
  • Headquarters: A very old Prefabricated ground base is located on Kessel. It was transformed into a regional Headquarters where meetings were held between the administrators, owners and customers of the mine. Administrative work is also conducted here to ensure the Spice keeps flowing.
  • Landing Zones: Several designated landing zones have been built across the planet for small, and in some cases, larger ships to land upon.

SECURITY
The Spice Mines of Kessel has a Medium rating for Security.

Guards line the walls of each labor camp to protect them from attack, but most importantly, to stop the workers from escaping from the hellish, nightmarish life that is led when one finds themselves being worked to death to extract Spice. Guard towers dot the corners of each labor camp, and a series of roads connect each camp too each other across the planet. These are regularly patrolled by the guards found planet side. Vehicles mounted with laser cannons are commonly used to escort the transports transporting Spice to the Headquarters found in the northern hemisphere of Kessel.

The Headquarters is the most secure and defended area of the planet. It is here that stockpiles of Spice are held for transport off-planet by coming and going transports. This place is guarded by towers, security guards and walkers to extra power fire. A compliment of TIE Fighters are held in a hangar bay and these are used to patrol the planet surface or escort ships coming or going.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Spice Mines of Kessel became an objective for the Black Tie Syndicate, a newly formed criminal organization in the Outer Rim Territories back in the 840s ABY, for expansion as they increased their influence and power in the criminal underworld. Miss Blonde, the crime lord responsible for the Black Ties formation, gathered the organization together to bring the Spice Mines into their control, by devising a plan in which one team would interact with the crime lords who controlled the mines whilst another damaged their operation by freeing and liberating slave camps, so that the Black Ties could then muscle in on their operation and subsequently make it their own.

Unbeknownst to Miss Blonde, Alicia Drey Alicia Drey had decided to muscle in on the operation as well, without letting the other crime lords and cronies in the Black Tie Syndicate know about it. Through her contacts on Formos, Alicia used the Purple Rejects to set up a meeting with the spice dealers that collected Spice from Kessel to sell on in their respective star systems and territories in order to set up a business deal between her, the Rejects and them. As Miss Blonde and the other Black Ties brought the Spice Mines of Kessel to it's knees, Alicia was muscling in on the sale and distribution of Spice, whilst the Syndicate did the hard work of covering the mining and culminating of spice.

The Spice Mines of Kessel have a legendary reputation that is known throughout the Galaxy for it's harsh, hazardous conditions that have been used as a form of torture in the past. It is part prison, part mine for the substance known as Glitterstim and the in-mates that live on Kessel are used as slave labour to mine the mineral, which is then distributed to star systems across the Galaxy by dealers, such as the Purple Rejects on Formos. The mines were once held by the criminal organisation known as the Black Tie Syndicate back in the 840s.

In the modern day the Spice Mines of Kessel have continued mining and producing Spice for distribution across the Galaxy. The Glitterstim produced here begun surfacing on planets held by the Empire of the Lost. Using her position as the Staff Director of the New Imperial Security Bureau Alicia Drey Alicia Drey begun supplying Spice to various criminal groups located all across the Empire which created a minor pandemic of drug use within the Imperial territories.

Meanwhile, Emperor Velran Kilran Velran Kilran begun a campaign across the Outer Rim Territories in a bid to annex Kessel in his Empire. The first of these planets to fall was Erilnar and in the hex adjacent too it was Kegan. With the acquisition of these hexes it is only a matter of time now until Kessel falls into his clutches and with it the Spice Mines of Kessel . . .
